What are your thoughts on the closure of the Provo Temple, the renaming, and new look?
I think there are better ways to spend our tithing dollars unless the building is unsafe.
As They Build Their False New Temple, Of The Anti-christ, Of False Teachers And False Prophets, Of Joseph And Brigham Young, And As GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD.
I don't like it.
@@joyce7892 Not your call just keep paying.
Thank you for posting this!
I still remember the many days I walked up with the wagon full of kool-aid, cups and ice. Most of the time I went up, drinks for the construction workers were free.
I am a little bit sad that the structure is needing to be changed. However having been a demolition expert in the military and knowing that temples 50 years ago could not handle the levels of earth quakes that are coming our way; this needs to be remodled. Round structures are very fulnerable.
Thanks for the accurate information!
It's not my place to say. It's what happens inside that's important.
Then why did the church rebuild the Nauvoo Temple and buy the Kirtland Temple?
It will look just like all the other temples.
I was so hoping it would be unique
Technology has changed significantly from 1972! Large areas were dedicated to typists recording temple ordinances-these areas are no longer needed and not easily converted to ordinance rooms, etc. Yes, I will miss the Provo Temple - it is the temple where I was endowed and later sealed to my wife.
Remember, it is Jesus Christ under the guidance of our Heavenly Father who leads His Church! Glen M.
So much symbolism in the old design. Of course that was erased when they painted the spire white.
Interesting! What color did it used to be and what did it symbolize?
It was gold. It was supposed to symbolize a pillar of fire surrounded by a cloud. Old Testament reference.
Ya, the white steeple cancels out the 'pillar of fire by night' portion of the symbolism.
True. And the new cookie cutter designs symbolize absolutely nothing. The lack of respect for our history shown through the desecration of both the Ogden and Provo temples is apalling. By employing this sort of mindset, one might go ahead and raze the Kirtland temple now that we have acquired it, and replace it with something more modern - what with it being obsolete and all.
It will be so beautiful.
@@kathrynhathaway5145 it will look like all the other temples.
It's only being redesigned because Horizon Zero Dawn has a post-apocalyptic version of it, and the church doesn't want them to be right about how it will look in a thousand years, after the apocalypse takes place. It's sort of a "Ha, we got you Playstation game! Now what?" I'm petty sure the game designers are waiting for the church to finish the new one so they can patch the game with the redesign.
what program or service do you use to generate your AI images? just curious.
Why was the Ogden deteriorating in the first place? Assuming the Provo is also deteriorating? Were they not built correctly in the '70's? Seems like a waste of time and resources unless it isn't safe.
Is it an earthquake construction issue?
Are the other temples constructed around this time safe or are they headed to be tore down too?
I was hoping there would be more answers to these questions.
The new one is going to look like all of the rest that are being built in my opinion.
Looks like a 1930's power station!! 😂
The Salt Lake Temple has also been destroyed on the inside. somethings up.
Wait, so it was demolished because of less than high quality construction? I thought that temples were supposed to be built with only the highest quality materials and construction practices.
Look at the Salt Lake temple and others built in the 1800s like Logan and Manti. Those temples have stood the test of time, and they're objectively the most beautiful temples the church has built.
😢
I never cared for the architecture of the Provo and Ogden temples. I am looking forward to the new temples in both locations.
These AI generated images are creepy
Nobody should care what the cookie jar looks like so long as the cookies inside are good. We do not worship a building, we worship God and this is a tool to serve him. It is not the building but what the building represents and the work completed therein.
Well said!
How would you feel to see your childhood home demolished?
You don’t need a building to represent God all you need to do look around you.
This change shows that the church is not lead by profits. So sad
I'm still confused about the part where Joseph Smith got his words/ideas from a hat with a rock inside of it when he created the book of Mormon
You're confused because you got the story wrong. In less than 90 days he translated the Book of Mormon from Golden Plates. He used the Urim and Thummim and this seerstone to translate. I hope that helps.
@@troygstott still a stone right?
@@mariuskoen1 And the staff of Aaron was just a stick. The brazen serpent was just a brass snake on a stick.
He didn’t create thr Boook of Mormon he translated it
@@troygstott Joe lied to Emma, the church and the world...
It’s hard to imagine having that much money to throw around, young families going hungry just to pay the church, and left to feel guilty if they don’t pay their tithing
The temples are used every day, so it's not being "thrown around". God's work of salvation is the very reason they are constructed. Also, I wouldn't pay tithing out of guilt. I've been unemployed and I pay my tithing with gratitude.
@@troygstott money would be better spent on actual living people unfortunately, it’s wasted all the time, I used to feel that way also, I get it ♥️♥️
@@China-Clay You say this because you don't believe. It's easy to criticize something you don't understand. The LDS Church supports the living as well.
@@troygstott go easy on me! There are many around us who have various nuance, I hope we can find space for one another♥️
@@troygstottyou’re right. There’s no shortage of critics! I’ve noticed that those that criticize something cherry pick certain things to justify their criticism. The first thing I thought was the safety aspect of the “issues”!
Ie: the Salt lake temple foundation was strengthened and the Tabernacle rafters were also refurbished/strengthened. I’m sure it wasn’t a whimsical thought when it was decided to demolish the Provo Temple.
Best to be safe than sorry!
The old one had a very intersesting design. I find the new one to be bland and it reminds me of soviet architecture. I laughed a lot at the eyes of the AI generated images and the total absence of anyone who isn't white. Thank you.
Mistake, mistake, mistake. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I am heartbroken. It's been a beacon of my faith for 50 years. It feels like someone I love has died.😢😢😢😢😢 All historical church buildings are important as they represent sacrifice and faith, not just the Nauvoo and Kirtland Temples.
What this really is is a diss to 1970s
architecture.
Well?
Also millions of dollars of your tything is waisted so they can build a another great and spacious building
A huge mistake to redesign LDS temples. The so-called "new design" is sadly not new at all.
No need for temples, Jesus resides in our human temples, temples made with hands are no longer needed, the bible is the truth and Jesus died for us, and he created a path to the kingdom of God, Jesus is sufficient, he is all we need.
Do you have a biblical reference for that? Just days before He died, Jesus chased moneychangers from the temple to show reverence for His father's house. The keys provided on the Mount of Transfiguration are directly related to why we still need temples. Also, the atonement is not just for souls that lived from his life forward, it goes back in time as well. So, temples are always needed. I'm not sure why temples would suddenly be obviated by the crucifixion?
The AI illustrations are terrible.
Hideous. And the steeple is too short. We can’t do real temple ordinances in a temple with short steeples.
Steeple is the important thing
I don't care for the redesign.
No new information, fake illustrations, ai hollow text - saying so much and yet saying absolutely nothing.
As They Build Their False New Temple, Of The Anti-christ, Of False Teachers And False Prophets, Of Joseph And Brigham Young, And As GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD.
No, it's a real temple. You will be able to touch it.
Waste of precious tithes. The people will have to answer for the cries of the widows.
