  • Welcome back to East Coast Refuse. During my Spring Break I learned that Casella had plans to replace about 25 trucks with new Mack LR Low Rider Curotto Cans. After confirming with one of their drivers that it was indeed true I went out to look where I knew there would be some gems. The first truck I found was a Mack LEU Heil Durapack 5000 Rear Loader doing recycling. I heard from the driver of that truck that he was going to be trained to drive one of the Curottos. After leaving the neighborhood I filmed tin I found this truck right away. This is another ex Al's unit Casella acquired. Im really happy that I was able to film this as the driver of this truck will also be trained and might actually be currently driving a Curotto. This was also the first Sterling I have ever filmed. Al's ran a fleet of these Heil's consisting of Mack and Sterling cabs as well as Sterling McNeilus's. My favorite truck Al's had in their fleet was the Orange Peterbilt Heil 7000 but Casella got rid of that fast. A big thank you to the crew for giving me some more information about Casella. Enjoy - East Coast Refuse

What a sweet truck! Why did they get rid of the Pete 7000 so fast? Would've loved to see some footage of it! But anyway back to this truck. Those guys were flying! And this one sure has a nice sound to it! This one's powered by the Mercedes MBE4000 engine I believe. Do you know if they're going to sell them off or send them to scrap? Would be terrible if they were sent to the scrappers, they have plenty of life left in them!

Thanks! I think most of their old trucks will get sold while only a few will be scrapped.
