Spring Series 2016: Stevens Disposal Volvo/ McNeilus REL

- Here we have a McNeilus Rear Loader mounted on a Volvo conventional chassis, which is not overly common in the refuse industry. The fact that it was a single axle unit with the smaller pusher axle made it pretty unique as well. It definitely made for a nice change of pace from the heavily dominant Macks of my region. The truck was collecting recyclables in Waterville, Ohio on a dreary Monday morning. They city used to be serviced by BFI/Allied/Republic, hence the abundance of BFI bins, which made for a nice touch to the video as well. The crew was a blast to watch, they can absolutely fly! A big thanks to both of them for letting me film!

Really nice find! Interesting to see a McNeilus that doesn't have a tag, and only 2 axles and a pusher. That's a first. Nice too see a fast crew too. Truck sounds like a modernized version of the WGs that I filmed. BFI bins were really cool too, if they ever go auto then I've got to get one of them! Great video!
+garbageproductions1 Thanks! Yeah, they have this and a couple freightliners and maybe an international without tags, but most of their trucks have tags. That's Michigan haha. This crew could move, that's for sure. Haha that is a pretty accurate description of the sound, but I guess that's to be expected. If they go automated there will be plenty for the taking, that's for sure. Who knows, maybe you could make it down or if we figure route stuff out I could come up into MI and we could shoot together. Would be awesome if we could figure out what those side loaders do!

perfectly suited truck for recycle collection--no tipper in the way, packs on the go, accelerates fast, body's not excessive in capacity.....love it. does Stevens collect the recycles weekly?
+Trashman242 Yeah, a good truck to run on recycle for sure. Yep, recycling goes weekly in this city. Although they might have some carted every-other contracts, I'm not real sure about the rest of their work.
Again with the tandems on the pusher lol except this time it looks like they robbed a Prius of its wheels for the pusher haha. Very nice looking (and sounding) truck. Cool to see some new stuff, and the quick crew and fast packing cycles definitely made for a fun video.
+3amrepmike3 Funny this went up the day I saw that comment and thought about the same thing to myself. Sure is a small tire. I agree, truck looked and sounded great! Funny, this little stretch here will probably be the longest run of new stuff I've had in years. Trust me I love filming different trucks and starting to get worn down with they pythons and Curottos too, but its hard when they completely dominate the area haha. But people keep watching them, so I try to find little differences that make the videos fun to watch. Am effeminately going to try to expand my territory a little if possible, though. This was a fun one to watch, and the fast crew/truck heavily contributed to that!

But I see this truck is a different image of Taz compared to the other truck I saw that you posted before this video. Ah the crates and bins gives this video a real old school feel to me. +TheNVTrashMan Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Was glad to finally catch up with them again- I had planed to try for more this winter but things just didn't work out. The character was a nice touch, one of the things I like about small haulers. The crates/bins setup is alive and well in Ohio, although carts are starting to pop up with almost every contract renewal or new contract so give it a few years and I'm sure we'll be caught up with the rest of the world.
It may not look like the Macks which dominate your region but it sure sounds exactly the same lol, but that's to be expected. The vertical stack was nice. Same for the front bumper & pump, the aero bumper Volvos are ugly IMO. That pusher is funky, I'd guess that's a particularly cheap tire size. Make you wonder what weight it's rated for. It's great to hear the city changed companies from big blue to a local hauler. Stevens sure has an old school feel to them, best exemplified by that kick ass paint job. That sort of classic painted lettering and pin striping always looks good. Definitely agree about the crew being a blast to watch. A great video all around.
+georgewuzheer Haha that's right on. At least the looks give it a step in the right direction... That pusher was weird, you're probably right about the tire size. Yeah, seems like all the contracts either end up with Big Blue or Big Green when they change hands, not the other way around. They paint all their trucks with cool little details, which sure does give them a cool feel. It's been nice to see them in action after being surrounded primarily by megahaulers. Completely different feeling to interact with. Was glad this crew happened to be in this rig, as they make the video that much better. Thanks for the kind words, brother!

aGreat video! Absolutely love this truck! Love the growl of the takeoff at 7:24! What year is this truck? When you say Volvo conventional, do you mean Volvo WG or Volvo WX? Is this a WX64?

+GarbageSean Thanks! It has a nice sound to it for sure, not real sure on the year though. And it was in fact a VHD. The WX is a cabover chassis.

hey rws 676 there is trash truck that I see ever week where I work at in east lansdowne pa Tuesday they collect trash on Wednesday they collect recycling and on Friday they bulk pick up and trash the can you a video and the company is called city wide services
