G#dim7 to Am sounds nice because it is like
From E7b9 to Am but the E in the bass left out.
So it is like a V I progression in disguise 😉

Hahaha love this!
fr though lmao
It actually is, getting into harmony 2 was my course
Is it that easy at school? Or is it just because he Did not gave too much info to make it more sample ?
I would really want to learn Mus Theory
well in school they help you drill this into memory with examples and exercises. people will watch this video and forget what they saw tomorrow.

Another way I like to look at it for passing diminished chords is the diminished triad can be extracted from a dominant 7th of the chord you are passing to. So for the progression: F-Am, you can take the dominant 7 of the Am and get E7, then take the E out of the chord and you are left with F-G#dim-Am.
As far as other uses, one I've always liked is moving from a minor chord, to the same chord, except half-diminished, meaning you only move the fifth a half-step down, maintaining the 7th (the C-chord version would be a C-D#-F#-A# after a regular Cm7), as a passing chord. Great video though
what's a good chord to follow it?
Thank u
You’re welcome Vasco! Thanks for watching!
I am literally writing down on my phone notes the theory from your videos to be able to study and practice it.I love how you teach man!
Much love Cristian! So glad to hear that you're finding the videos useful!
Sameeee
🔥🔥🔥we need another midi pack i still use the old one til this day
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Great video man! Can you make one going over augmented chords?
Love a good diminished arpeggio/inversions for building up anticipation and tension for the following chord! Great video as always bro bro!!!
🎹💙🖖🏾
Bless!!! (^^,)v
Yoooo brother!! Ah yess!! They sound so dope arpeggiated! Thank you bro bro!
That chord progression at 358 sounds so damn familiar!
Thanks great tutorial, Can you plase make a Video of Chords Movement, On which chords chords follow after the other
Hey! Long time! Thank you. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have a think about how i can approach this!
@@stefanguy Yeah long time,Been busy with studio work, Thanks for replying. I will highly Appreciate that. will be waiting for that tutorial
Thank you for the lesson!
Can you feature Sus Chords too please!
An extended course for diminshed and augmented chords is exactly what I need because I never know on which next note I should play them. Is it always a halfnote over or under the next key? And how you use augmented chords? Or sus seventh chords? Jesus, there is still so much to learn for me...
👍
Aight, I'm subbing and binging your videos. Are there any rules to going outside the scale when using passing chords like this?
who disliked it man cmon
I know right, some people aye? Lol
@@stefanguy 3 months later and its still only one dislike man thats proof you got some gems right here
Very helpful my friend🙏🏽
I was wondering if you use or every tested out the iMaschine 2 app for iOS?
Would be really cool see more videos about here on the tube☺️
NiceOneYea🎧
Hey brother! Glad you found this one helpful! I’ve never touched the iMaschine 2 app you know. Never even considered it until now 🤔. I may have to check it out!
Stefan Guy : Well in that case I’m glad I mentioned it as I believe Stephan guy can present a crisp video for us☺️🙏🏽

great video!! 💫so if Im in the lets say c major and Im using some passing chords, would that affect the melody I layer on top of the chords? or could I just use the major(white keys) to play the melody? sorry if the question is confusing
Hello, can I play a fancy R&B chord progression with small midi like the one you have?
Dim chords are some of the most versatile but hard to use chords in a progression in my opinion
How did you do that walk down at the beginning?
when you play the csharp diminished how do you know to that chord when the black notes are not in the orinigal scale
Do you mean a semitone below the Dm7?
Not sure how that applied to a scale? Does the dim chord need to be in the scale, or just a semi below? Thanks.
i have a question. are the chords that you played in the same scale ? like c#dim to d. i hope you undertstand 🙏
Anybody know the chord progression that he play at 0:11
Can you tell me how to figure out in which scale this progression is? The diminished throws me off. Fmaj7 and Am7 are in C/Am, but the sharp in the diminished chord is not
Did you find out? I'm wondering when you use diminished chords as passing chords if you can go "outside" the scale. The intension is to create tension for release and playing outside the scale creates that, so it would make sense. I guess, when you implement notes utside the scale, you look for chords that doesn't sound too weird from the chord you came from and the next chord inside the scale has a nice/good release.
I'm assuming I can't use this as a passing chord to major chords then?
Multiplier? That you son?
