  • Every index you add to a table increases its storage requirements and DML overheads. So it's a good idea to create as few as possible.
When you have two or more indexes using the same columns, you may be able to get away with just one. But how do you decide which to keep?
This video discusses how to analyze your queries so you can cut the number of indexes you create.

Hi Chris. Thanks for your videos about indexing. It was really useful to understand the principle of indexes. A lovely way of presenting the subject. You should be a teacher if you aren't one yet. Keep producing great videos.

In this video the constant jingling sound effect started to get REALLY distracting... you had so many graphics transitions that it seemed like it was going nearly constantly.

+Jason Bucata I must be going deaf, I can barely hear it! Or are you referring to the sounds for the transitions?

      Right, the transitions

The "related videos" that CZcams has selected for the right-hand side are quite amusing...

very informative. Thank you. Two points... One, I have to agree with Jason on the sound effects.. I find them intrusive... but, I am old, so my hearing is going... Two, why do allow your poor daughter to eat only the red candies? She will develop complexes and start to have hard feelings about you, or the other colors. Open up a little.

Thanks! We'll make the sound effects less intrusive in the future.
"why do allow your poor daughter to eat only the red candies"
It's just a story! I don't let her eat any candy...
(OK, maybe I do sometimes ;)

Please please use less sounds effects. It is just like having too many unnecessary indexes.
