1) Europe is a dying continent demographically and economically.
2) due to mass immigration and low native birthrates, it's native population is being replaced muslim and african peoples.
3) most europeans hate the USA and American people. not one drop of American blood should be spilled for a people who despise us.
4) the future for the USA is at home and in Asia. the new economic powerhouses will all be in Asia as Europe dies.
5) europeans want the USA's nuclear umbrella, but i will be damned if the USA will strike russia with nuclear weapons and invite a nuclear counter attack if the russians were to use nukes in europe. ask the french and the uk to use their so called nuclear umbrella. (literally a handfull of weapons) good luck with that.
there is short term disadvantages for the USA to leave Nato and the europeans behind, but in the long term partnering with Asia will over come that.

The US helped Europe twice already if I recall. We helped win wars, we helped rebuild after wars and NATO wasn’t around. Our allies as in Real allies need not worry NATO is a joke anymore and without US money will cease to exist. BUT it would be a pleasant surprise to see them actually pull it together themselves

You make it look like US did it for free. By helping to defeat Hitler and rebuild Europe US got the biggest market for it's goods and established US dollar as a world reserve currency and first countries to use dollar as reserve currency were european countries. Basically US recovered from great depression by stimulating production of goods and selling them to Europe. Before WW2 Europe was very protective of it's industry and had high import tariffs which made it impossible for US products to be sold in Europe. But after WW2 all tariffs were removed and US not only recovered from great depression but experienced an economic boom mainly because of exports to Europe.
Both times you were late though. And how many times have US allies helped the US just in the last 25 years? Countless times.

America will lose its major power if it gives up on nato. Whole nato is also economicly linked. After america backs out of alliance some will back out of economic ties too. And then america will be declining and finally falling apart like soviet union did.
