    The United States has a massive amount of man power and military equipment invested in defending and protecting other nations across the world, but what if the US pulled out of it's responsibility to NATO, or the The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and packed up and left European, and middle eastern countries to defend themselves? In today's video we're going to look at something that could spark World War III if it actually happened.

      @josephcantarelli7040 Před rokem +12

      Well that's semi true. Russia has a lot of old soviet relics, but they still have a modern military. However Ukraine is being supported with NATO equipment, most notably American equipment. Even Russias most advanced fighter jet couldn't compete with an American fighter jet (for example). If Ukraine wasn't backed by the USA and the rest of NATO, Russia would've walked through Ukraine. The Russian equipment can't compete with westernized American equipment.

    • @michealbaker8216
      @michealbaker8216 Před rokem +3

      @Joseph Cantarelli
      Why Russian equipment is worse than American? Russia has better air defences, artillery, ballistic missiles and their helicopters are on the same level as USA. If USA and NATO members have more money, where do they go? Russia produces only 1.5 times less equipment with a budget 10 times less. How can be? Ohhh, NATO spends most of their money on their bases and equipment maintenance. Or they are just stealing money, like Pentagon hasn't audited funds for years. I can’t give any other reasons

    • @josephcantarelli7040
      @josephcantarelli7040 Před rokem +10

      @Micheal Baker the US has better funding than Russia. The West was always more advanced than Russia. Russia has long ranged missiles that are effective (if they are accurate) and the largest nuclear arsenal. But in the 21st century, American equipment is far superior to Russian equipment. What do u think Ukraine is using to fight Russia, and why do u think Russia is losing Ukraine. All they have is ballistic missiles. But put them against US infantry, tanks, aircraft, naval vessels, and special op force's, they are no match better trained, equipped, and supported US soldiers. We have better industry and laboratories than the Russians. But I said, if Ukraine was NOT backed by AMERICA, Russia would have Ukraine by now. Russia has modern equipment. It is just not as good as American equipment. Meaning Russia is not weak. They are just not as strong as the US. Idk how else to explain it to you. Watch his other videos about the problems of the Russian military if you don't want to listen to me.

      Unlikely, as Europe and Russia have very different political ideologies, but not impossible either. All countries are going through a political upheaval, and NATO is a military alliance, not political.
      Russia would have much to gain but also much to lose. Europe does not need Russia, but in certain scenarios, would have much to gain too.

    Edit: Surprisingly, this is the first video I've seen about NATO that actually mentions the financing behind it that I'm talking about below. Also thought I'd mention that Greece has been at the 2% mark since 2014, and a few smaller countries not mentioned in the vid have reached the 2% mark in 2019 too.
    The reason Trump said he wanted out of NATO is because NATO requires members to spend 2% of their GDP towards NATO. Before Trump came into office, the US was paying NATO over 3.5% of its GDP, and the UK and Greece were the only others paying at least the required 2%. Only 3 out of 28 countries in NATO were paying their fair share.
    In 2019, Bulgaria, Estonia, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland joined the US, UK, and Greece in paying at least 2%. No wonder Europe hates him. Its because hes actually putting America first.
    I know he said he wanted out of NATO, but I think he really just wanted to scale back our involvement, but knew he'd get the free media coverage if he appeared more extreme. Plus, hes a businessman, and the first rule of negotiation is to appear to want more than you actually do so you can negotiate them down to what you want.

      Trade with the EU (minus non-members like the UK, Switzerland and Norway). is worth $658 billion a year, to put that in context, that is most of the US military budget of $730 billion a year. If Europe was hypothetically overrun by Russia (this scenario completely ignores that fact that the UK and France have nuclear weapons which would make it unlikely) the loss of this trade would devastate the US economy and the US would have to both make severe cuts to its military and its healthcare budget, so leaving Europe to its fate would be a false economy.
      There is also the matter of the UK being home to RAF Flyingdales, which is a crucial early warning radar site that would give advance notice of russian ICBMs flying over the Atlantic to strike targets on the East coast of the US, as well as GCHQ that provides critical intelligence sharing with the USA. Basically, the USA has an overwhelming strategic interest in defending Europe, and abandoning Europe would only accelerate the US's decline relative to that of Communist China.
