    Hey Joe, recently found your channel and have been amazed by your effort and quality. Your work is superb! If I could sugest something to aquire in the future for Headphone revies, get that Binaural ears microphones, I follow another youtuber named This is Tech Today and he does some heaphone comparisons, mostly music and lifestyle, I would love if someone would do that to gamimg heaphones. In adition to that graphs you show from your measurments, which are awesome!! The part "hear it for yourself"would be perfect.
    Your EQ for the Inzone H9 helped a lot in the sound quality for me.
    PS: I have no idea how much that binaural microphone costs, so its just something to consider.

  • @rhalfik
    @rhalfik Před 8 měsíci +1

    You should try some drumming headphones. I used to have Vic Firth Sih-1 and these things had a thunderous bass that was so visceral! You could feel some sounds were really "heavy" as in they felt like heavy objects. I loved it. I think even as an audiophile, these earmuff style headphones with strong clamp and passive isolation are an exciting way of listening to all kind of stuff. Sometimes they have no bass because it's difficult to tune them with all that air spring around but if they're well tuned, they sound awesome, just not in a conventional way.
    However I have a few points to add here. The way you describe magnitude graphs has one oddity. You treat each anomaly as an intentional treatment. I can assure you it doesn't work like that. This kind of enclosure takes heavy toll on fidelity especially in highs but also in bass. The dips and peaks that you see, well at least some of them, are there by accident. There is simply not much you can do in an enclosure as small as this. Normally a lot of the standing waves can be vented and resonances can be notched with resonators but with total encapsulation of the driver you end up with uneven response. Obviously the manufacturer doesn't feel comfortable talking about this stuff but this is the tradeoff of isolation - you get worse fidelity of reproduction. How do you fix that? Well, you can't really get rid of the consequences as they are lingering not only in magnitude but also phase. Just take a look at group delay around that wiggle in the bass. You'll see the enormous variation in energy storage in the structural vibrations of the reactive force from the magnet transferred to the baffle and the rest of the earcup... But you can use EQ, that part is doable and recommended.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Thanks for sharing! Part of the dips, although of course not all, are intentionally though. I actually spoke to them in great length about this and even the rear driver housing, baffle, pad material, were all chosen to perform in a certain way for frequency response in gaming. The headset has active DSP so they could have easily masked some of the unwanted dips if they were okay with some minor phasing issues. I'm not saying your wrong, as I agree they have to deal with the headsets physical properties, but I do know some were intentional.

    Another great review Joe, thank you
    Regardless of how expensive a headset is, it can even the best ever headset that will give you wall hacks in audio form, if the sound engine in a game inconsistent and unreliable, it’s going to be a waste of money
    COD for example, when the sound engine properly works and it’s consistent, which is very rare, then these headsets will really play a massive role in your game, but we all know how inconsistent the sound engine is and regardless of which headset you use, there will be lots of moments where you’ll say ‘omg he was right behind and I didn’t even hear him coming’
    I’m still extremely happy with my Nova 7, especially with your latest EQ with the lifted 125Hz and it’s a beast of a headset including imaging and I also still have my Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 wired with the super amp and again beast of a headset for FPS games
    I really don’t think it’s worth spending £800 on a headset, but that’s my opinion

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Nova 7 is arguably the best bang for your buck headset on the market right now. I still think it represents almost all of what gamers need/want in a headset, at a very reasonably price.

Have you had anything similar?

  • @TheQuickyouknow
    @TheQuickyouknow Před 8 měsíci +2

    Great review as always.
    Would it make sense to tune other headsets to the frequency response to make it the most competitive? For example, would tuning a Stealth Pro to match the dip in the 4k help make my headset more competitive for COD?

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Thanks! Not necessarily, no. One issue is with aggressive EQ you can introduce more phasing issues that counter the work gained from adjusting specific frequency volume, or amplitude. It comes down to personal preferences on what you're sensitive to as well. Stealth Pro is excellent out of the box, but I would consider an 8k reduction if you haven't already. That seems to be the most glaring fatigue point with that headset.

    can we get a 3 or 4 way versus? From easiest to use/tune. presets, software, out of the box, download profiles etc. positioning for footsteps and distant sounds. wired vs wireless features/latency. could careless about the bluetooth or dual inputs. just strictly Gaming Versus battle.
    Would also love a explanation of softwares you use and recommend we use. I have no idea what you mean when you talk about Dolby or Windows whatever softwares, outside of the headphones software, like Astro Command Center, would other softwares help in addition or just instead of? I dont think i have needed that or would benefit from that if my amp is doing it (Astro mixamp pro). I do love Dolby Atmos with my tv and soundbar 11 channel system. It's a better gaming headset, but not as comfortable. It's more than double the price and only worth it if you need the crazy passive noise isolation properties.

    This is good for ps5 without dac for fps games?

      It's arguably the best you can get for PS5 if you're okay with the strong clamp force.

      @@GadgetryTech Thank you for the answer, but I want to know that I am far from the device and I cannot connect the headset to the device via USB, and it must be via wireless or via aux. What do you think, is it good with aux? Or should I choose another headset, what do you think?

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  Před 8 měsíci

      It’s still good with aux, just not “as” good. Technically you can add a USB-A extension cable to it to make the cord longer too. The ps5 controller is okay when it comes to the headphone output but it can limit performance a bit. I’ve still been fine playing with aux though

    paid biased review, will help purchasers feel better when they watch this review after spending $800 on a crappy headphones thats got a tight fit to block noise, I hear sound quality is atrocious for the sound quality, Audeze gaming headphones sound way better for way cheaper, absolute hype for a cheap product marketed towards people are willing to part with $800

      I can assure you there was no monetary exchange for this video so I would not make false accusations. I don’t even have affiliate marketing set up with them so I have no financial gain from making this video. It does not sound as good as the Maxwell for example, but it is much better for noise isolation and footstep awareness for those looking for that edge.
