I have had my 1880 for 19 months now, I have had a few minor issues, but well taken care of by Vexus. I bought a tin because I just fish for fun, but I fish alot of different lakes, and I could not be happier with my 1880, for the money it is IMO the best out there in the tin market. If I were going to guide on a lake, a Tin Boat would not be my first choice even for Crappie. Boats, are overpriced for sure, but so are Cars, Trucks, Homes and food, we just got to deal with it and enjoy life the best you can.

When you sit down and look at your budget, and you weigh the cost of a new one with that word that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside (warranty), you get a tin rig. Guiding out of it has been a breeze. When you want something bad enough, you make it happen.

To all looking at a new tin rig , go look at gater trax strike series . For one that has a paint job on it , as for vexus it's an automotive finish , your truck will scratch so will this , there's not a paint job on a tin rig that is more durable than an auto finish , because that's all they are . Over all it is what it is , and as far as boat weight to horse power , today's boats out weight yester years boats by almost double . My first ranger boat just the hull was 1050 lbs rated for a 150 , that thing would run 70 any day and didn't have any prop blowing out problems except the 50 ft rooster tail it would blow . I've been doing used boats for my last three boats and wouldn't pay what they want for a new one today , you can less than half the price on one that's been well taken care of , and if you don't mind one 10 yrs old you can really get a deal . Good report on the vexus boat , dealers are not honest about any aspect of the deal they just want to get you to buy . Thanks

Guides know best on these boat reviews! I am retired mailman but would use a new boat a lot as to have something to do alone safely and be outdoors. We spend that kind of money on these things and with the high price tag that's paid, we also deserve something that can go day to day w no issues and be worry free for years. But that is not the case for you. Thanks for the review w balls to it.

Yes I have a 94 tracker I bought new 26 yrs ago and I thought trackers were bad. I have found all the weak areas tracker cut corners to save money. Their weak assembly parts have all been replaced and reenforced. Even with all that, the boat owner has to do their own Pm's because parts do wear out & raddle out and vibrate and work loose. I've been so accustomed to it, its become a habit to check every nut and bolt before I take it out. Nothing is overlooked.

Vexus must have heard you. I have the same boat only its a 2021. I have had no fit and finish issues. My lockers never get water in them. The front seat post is a bitch to get in and out but does drain. I prefer the scew in type seat post. Thr Trailer bunks have never moved. I use fenders at the dock just like a did with my glass boat. Any scuffs or scratches in the paint come right off with 3m rubbing compound. I fish 2 to 3 days a week year round. My Mercury 115 pushes the boat to 48 mph at 3000 ft of elevation. 50 mph at sea level.
A 150 Merc weights 100lbs more than the 115. Not gonna happen. If you need more speed buy a differnt boat.

Nice review thanks for the honesty. I left the aluminum boat market 8 years ago and went glass. I was considering getting a tin can boat because the lakes I fish in fluctuate in water level daily and those submerged rocks seek my boat out at times. That fit an finish issue is a carry over from the issues that were plaguing Ranger Boats. There is a reason that Jonny Morris was able to purchased Ranger boats. I almost purchased a Ranger 621FS and I saw issues with the carpeting, led lighting wires hanging lose on a 110k boat I passed. The prices for boats is astronomically out there. This review came just in time as I am going this week to look at a Vexus DVX 20. Maybe I will stick with my Skeeter WX or go back to another Skeeter WX , but Skeeter is into the package setup..not to fond of that marketing style. Thank for the review.

I appreciate your review and agree with a lot of it. But I am very pleased with what I got for the money. My only wish is that I would have got the 2080 with the 200hp and it’s only 4” longer than my boat with 50 more horse power. Keep up the good content I look forward to watching more.

I have an AVX 1980 and like it very well, I ordered it without carpet so I'm not having any of the issues you are but the only thing I agree with is the bunks have come loose once and that is about it. I am retired and live in southern California so I fish two to four days a week. My 150 Merc. powers the boat to about 53 mph. on a good day and it handles well but not like a fiberglass boat for sure. My paint is chipped in a few places and I have a couple of dents in the hull. This is because I use the heck out of the boat and in all kinds of weather so when I tie the boat up to go get my truck it gets banged around in the wind or heavy boat traffic. Every time I see these boat reviews 90% of you are always saying...this is not a deal breaker or not to bad or I can live with this and that. The problem is what you said...hold them accountable. As far as the hook-free carpet, I asked my local marine dealer about this and they said ( it is a add-on to 95% of boats you have to ask for it to be installed ) again not enough of us are demanding more for our $$$$$. One last thing, stop believing in these guys that are sponsored by the companies. They will lie to us about everything to keep the money 💴 coming in. Yes... Sorry that you don't agree, but this has been my honest experience. I also fish out of this boat 25-30 days out of the month. 62 mph for a 200hp 20 foot boat is slow, and these handle no where near a glass boat like they advertise. My buddy's brand new ranger glass boat, same size, similar price, had much better fit and finish and components. I don't know what glass boat you came out of, but this is no where near a glass boat. Run your current boat and then get in a phoenix or bass cat. It will hurt your feelings. I say this because I know from experience! They are good aluminum boats, but that's where I draw the line.

Hope you changed your mind about buying the Vexus… Now a problem on 75% of the aluminum boats is a torquing issue causing the HULL to split right down the center.. Not on a weld either.. This boat that the review has been done on has since been sent back to the factory and re-hulled and after 1 month you can tell the issue is about to re surface again… After speaking with the CEO of the Vexus company and him asking Mr. Bass what he could do to make it right HE WILL NOT RESPOND period.. What a joke.. Go buy one of these boats if you want but don’t say you haven’t been warned… 2200lbs and a 115hp 🥴 My Phoenix weights 1850lb and rated for a 250hp.. The Vexus does ride good, I will say that. How can it not though at 2200lbs running 41mph… How could that be a bad ride.. This boat is for a weekend fisherman that’s never owned a boat and has nothing to compare it too.. Those are the guys arguing that there awesome boats, because they don’t know any better… This company will fold soon.. Trust me

I considered getting a Vexus, because they're built by former Ranger employees and should be a great boat, but now I guess I'll go to my original idea of getting an Xpress. Vexus ought to at the very least trade your boat for a new one, but that may not be an improvement either. I really hope they take care of you on this, and your honest review is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your honest review I've been looking for info like provided in your video. Vexus should have been able to tell you what motor would run at whatever speed. I agree with you that it should run a 150 HP motor but I'm not a speed guy on water. I thought Vexus boats were the one I wanted but after tons of research I have changed my mind. All the Vexus models are over priced. I've been looking at Express boats myself. I would like a Bay boat because I have a bad back and would like a leaning post instead of having to get up and down in the seats, but as mentioned earlier in this comment, the Bay boats are really over priced for what we're getting, plus the Bay boats are not that well designed IMHO. I wish G3 boats would restart manufacturing their boats. I've watched most of the Vexus vids which look good especially the ones on riding on plane. The only problem is they are on pretty smooth water. I would like to see one on choppy water with white caps.

It’s a design flaw IMO and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone got fired over it. The boat is 2 inches shy of 19 foot at 2000 lbs, very obvious it needs a 150. It would be an animal with a 150. Fail. Read through your comments, and thought at first you just needed to lube the cleats, but saw where you said the nylon bushing is digging it.... I agree that's unacceptable, all of your shown problems do lead one to think it's poor craftsmanship. Honestly, knowing what I know now, I'd recommend buying a used glass boat with some remaining warranty for about 5k more than this boat was. I don't think any aluminum boat is going to be able to handle like a glass boat. I think all these aluminum boats are cookie cutter to each other. Look at this new brand "avid" that just came out for example. It's literally the exact same as vexus. The other thing I learned is these "great" manufacturer engine warranties, really ain't that great! Read the fine print; they do not cover "wear and tear". So what good is a 6 year warranty if wear and tear is not covered? If I could do it over I would go buy a 4-5 year old bass cat puma ftd or a phoenix 920. If you have to go new, Nitro has the best price. You will be able to handle and go decent speeds but I don't know how long it will last you.

Wow for nearly $4K cheaper you could of had a Xpress Hyper-Lift 18 bass boat with all the same options and probably would not of had any of those issues. I feel bad for ya dude

So you have a 6 months old boat and have parts going bad? Your words not mine. Had to swap out "props" to get speed right? That wasn't done before delivery? I'd I was ever considering buying an aluminum boat, which I'm not, I wouldn't buy a boat that is breaking down the first year. So much for your research. Sounds like a piece of junk.

A lot of those problems could've been prevented by looking at the boat good before you paid for it

DUDE, you wine about the speed, and the speed is because YOU chose to use suzuki versus a real motor.

Since when was stating a fact considered “whining”? The entire vexus line is slow and under powered regardless of the brand of engine.

@@MrBassOutdoors not true. My 1880 with 115 merc, tournament load and two adults pulls 50-52.3 on the electronics read out. Had you done research, you'd know suzuki was a junk motor.

    • @MrBassOutdoors
      @MrBassOutdoors  Před 3 lety +1

@@Venandii77 LOL you again? 50 mph is slow. It is a known FACT that all the aluminum Vexus line is underpowered and would not pass coast guard inspection for the motors that should be on them. That's straight from my Vexus' rep at the factory. How's that for no research? Merc's tear up just as easy, I saw tons of engines down last tournament that was here and they wouldn't bring the Merc trailer. Too much warranty work. Move along scab.
