Retals has been GRINDING.
About a year ago he mentioned in one of his 1v1 videos that he had to get better powershots from a distance, because he allowed his opponents to get too close without punishment, he scored a ton of distant shots in this match.
About 2 months ago he mentioned how he needed to get a better first touch to allow for aerial plays, because every mechanical player was super consistent at those, and it allowed him shots like this: 33:53
He's been at an upwards trajectory and its quite impressive.
he also mentioned how easy stalls are and how it's sm people should incorporate, and he used it there. also, he said if he grinds he can be one of the best and i fully believe him.
Man Retals' 1v1 level is so impressive rn. Really impressed at the mental especially

I’ve been watching retals for a while and in my opinion I would say he’s one of the most mechanical players in the world. Not in the way that he can hit 400 heli resets but in the kinda way that he is SUPER smart with how he uses his mechanics.

Seeing Retals get mechy this season has been really fun to watch honestly. He knows he’s not a young guy anymore and is working hard to keep up and beat the stigma of age this game is really bad about.

As someone who used to play on around 100 ping and just got better internet and now I play on 50, there is no difference. The only difference is the latency variation. Is it even possible for humans to feel that difference?
I generally like kickoff strategy, but I'd love to see a custom 1v1 mode that takes traditional kickoffs out of it.
Do you mean like the heatseeker spawns? I think leth has made a vid with that concept
@@tHEsTIQPotentially. There is room for creativity in adjusting the traditional kickoff or replacing it with something completely different. Kickoffs are the most boring part of watching 1v1, yet they are by far the biggest difference maker in matches. How many times do we watch someone grind out a minute long possession for an exciting goal just to be instantly deflated by the opponent scoring the same kick off goal we've seen ten thousand times.
@@SchizoFrenic.Good opinion, but a personal one nonetheless. I'm curious as to what ideas you have to replace a traditional kickoff. At the highest level of play, it's difficult to device a game mechanic as fair as a traditional kickoff, no matter how boring it may be, to start each round of 1v1
@@russellhan3534thanks for the reply. There are a few adjustments that could be made to change the traditional kick off: initial boost total, spawn positions, one time boost pad pickups. My suggestion would be to try to remove some of the volatility from kickoffs and shorten the kickoff "phase" of the game in 1v1s, maybe by spawning the players closer to the ball and/or giving them more boost on spawn.

Still a little new to RL but Retals has been the guy I have been watching and he is playing really well I think. I hope LG can make something happen this weekend. Btw everyone who gets upset about the demo play in the OT 33:15 I think its just a smart play. Yeah bumps and demos are annoying but its apart of the game. Cosmic didn't have to go for the ball when he did.

Retals has honestly always seemed the best on LG, Magic has never delivered in threes on any team and Cheese is good, but Retals balances their entire defense and plays well as first or third man
Cheese is a good player and has the highest peak, retals is consistently good though. Majic has always been a bit underwhelming IMO.

have you ever considered adding a few minutes of dead space at the end of your videos when the series don't go the distance? i kinda knew that the winner of game 3 would win the series, since the loser wouldnt have time to win three games (given how long the video is)

People don’t do that as it affects the watch time. No ones gonna sit through 4-5 minutes of nothing so CZcams sees that as viewers tuning out before the vid is done.
You could’ve just seen that retals is the better player and know that he’s gonna win
Johnyboi used to do that a long time ago, but adding extra time to not spoil comes with its own set of problems. I guess the solution at present is just to avoid looking at the time, although this isnt a perfect solution.
Retals def stepped up in 1v1 but beating anybody that's not Daniel, FK or Cronic in NA isn't an achievement. Y'all saw what happened in salt mine quals. Lets see if he can beat a real top 10 1v1 player before we say how good Retals is. Props to you though Retals, you've improved a lot

@@gregorygoodman1842 I meant within the same game he was doing impressively mechy stuff one moment and whiffing the ball the next. I never said the overall gameplay was bad, there were obviously more zen moments than plat, just that consistency still needs a bit of work.
