We need Gem power extract for 2star gems
2star gems will still have a place.. its very expensive for low spender to obtain 8 copies of 5star to unlock rank 5 for awakening. Some 2star gems still good like mother lament and fervent fang

Thanks VK I was very interested to see how this update would affect the gem-meta and I agree with your conclusions. I'm sad because I was very excited to run Grim Rhythm and I had already ranked mine up to 9 to play with it. It's cool but it probably makes more sense to melt it now. Also as a crusader I prefer to run a blessed pebble for the utility but I wonder if that's even still viable anymore. Thanks again
Blizz has no effs to give for low spend or grinders. We get screwed every time.

How the hell did you get screwed ? Instead of having to get 2* gems to rank 10 awaken you can awaken it at rank 5 and for plat if you call that getting screwed than ok. Just sayin it makes no sense
i know f2p players with 3k res and 35k cr holding their own in roe and shadow war and bg cry more
@HalfHotHalfCold each server is different. Keep that in mind. As well as I saw markets where each 2/5 copy costs 16k plat. No point to argue

When the game first started I pursued only 5* gems but one year in as f2p I realized that awakening was only going to happen if I used 1* gems. I awakened every slot using 1* gems then one by one began replacing them with a 2* when I had it to rank ten. I had 4.9 2* stars completed at time of the update. When the update took place I still had four 5* gems at rank five in my stash that I thankfully saved from when I started the game. I plugged those into the 4 remaining 1* slots and bang I have all awakened slots at 3K res. I have a 3* rank 4 bsj in my stash and a 3* rank 1 RC in my stash as well that I will begin servicing. I need 3 more ML to get my Mother to rank ten so I will finish it even though eventually it will be replaced but it is a good place to bank gem power until needed and I will probably use it to sub out the power & command or one of the other 2* seeing how it goes. This update really breathed new life into my building process.
Sad but true, new awakening system is a massive kick in the guts to players like me running fully awakened build with lvl 10 2* gems. 😢
the builds Based on 2star gems rank 10 was a complete different base of players who enjoyed awakening slots there was a time that a skill based 2* player kicked a lot of 4-7K players in heaven. Huge Changes over time are killed that way like cancer...

Fair solution is retract back lowest market price. Right now nothing move, platinum scarcicity, you only can progress by buying orb....

As a low spender, I had already built for awakening every slots with 1's and fervent fang (i don't pvp). While I agree 5* is most efficient for rank 5, for me starting at the bottom on collecting all the copies needed in a timely matter isn't practical with the good 5's being 64k plat or none avail to buy. So I'll just upgrade to 2's and try to get 2k res for white wings to go with Prophet skin, and collect copies of a couple good 5's for someday down the road.
I have to disagree here. For the F2P getting 8 copies a specific 5-star gem is very difficult. You have to try and sell enough to make the plat and hope the market has it available, or hope your leggo crests drops the exact one you need. A 2-star gem is guaranteed to via 20 rare crests, and these crests can be obtained very quickly. Plus, you only need rank 5 of 2-star gem to awaken, if the goal is to awaken all the gems/gears.
Up to rank 10, you need 41 copies of 2s. And a lot of gem power. I realize that each case is different, and it's quite difficult to make one simple conclusion.
But pls note that telluric pearls are getting more accessible over time.
Definitely until the update, awakened rank 10 2s were sort of end game gems for me and for quite long period of time they still will be. But I know that eventually I have to replace them for 5s. How long it will take? No idea.
But back in the days I sacrificed a lot of 5s copies to get gem power to rank up my 2s. (My ideology is to not push any 5s until I don't have 4 or 5 star copy)
If I could reverse all process today then most likely I would rather collect those copies instead of turning it to gem power.
A r10 2* is more gp than a r5 x/5
The dupes of the x/5 will set you back but you do save GP
I will never as a F2P get a 5 star to rank 5... I can barely get them to rank 3! So i am glad i get awaken some of my rank 5 2 stars!
Is a very bad situation, because when you had 6-8 2 star gems awaken with 2 awaken benefits open you could fight equally with everyone to 6k reso, developing your skill as well. Now they've remove this option and is forcing you instead to take Resonance route. The only benefit to have 2 stars now is to keep your reso low and be sent in lower brackets for PvP as the players pool is a lot bigger now in BG, due to players that are reaching 3k easily with 5 star gems.
yep exact it killed the skill based 2* player base immediatley
I'd like the ability to combine 1- and 2- star gems so that the combined gem has all the attributes of both. So I can put my carsen into my lament and have a gem that has crit and atk speed boost at the same level as the two gems.
Finally made it to Immortal clan after playing since the beginning. My Wizard equipment isn’t working right anymore. Now the gems are with nothing. I think I’m done with the game.
I so much agree with all you said here. I am a med-spender on this game and have decided to stop spending money on this game in any shape or form since the last update because, what's the point? There is no bracket system, and the game has become even greedier than it ever has been. I mean, I still love and enjoy the game and would play it still, but they're no longer getting any money from me anymore.
Make the awakening bonuses 5% at rank 5 and then up 1% per lvl. Fixed

Enjoyed the video. I still think 2 star gems have their place. Pain Clasp, Viper's Bile, Fervent Fang, for example. Also Mother's Lament. Bloody Reach for rangers. These are great for min maxxing dmg. But as you stated, now the benefits have nothing to do with awakening!
yes but its a way more easy to replace them worthy for 5 star gems for everyone. No more Way to be a part of a own league it was always nice to see skilled 2* player Reaper Killing the whole BG
I disagree with you when you are saying that 2 star, and one star, gems are not worth it in the awakened slots. I say they are because it would take many long years to come even close to having all 5/5 rank 5 star gems. It would take even longer to get them all to rank 10 without spend, spend, spend which is what i will not do. So I will still use both one and two star gems.
For f2p is going to still be difficult due to the high gem power to even rank 5 star gem to rank 5 is a high gem power
Actually it consumes less gem power than getting 2's On rank 10. That's an issue.
YES how ever, its hard to get copy of a 5 star gem, for an example my bsj is already rank 4 and I need 5 more copies, i think so I can upgrade it to rank 5

this finally made me loose fun for the game. Skipped roiling, cause 2*lament with awakening seemed to be more worthy. Now blizz/ease finally "removes" any worth of 2* gems from the game! Invested bunch of money and they change things like they are crazy
They want low spenders to go rank5 5* now, getting more resonance in the progress(about 1-1.2k for equal gem power). And those who don't will fall behind in power significantly enough they will have to follow eventually.
Basicly all have to spend low amounts again to gain copies = 5* prices will go up, whales can sell better.
Overall nothing can beat the passive bonus that the 1-2* gem gives.

as f2p i don't even consider ranking a 5 star to 5...to way. i just awake with 2 stars...i wanna play the game and not wait for a year for 5% lower cd on bonearmor, lol.
ps. how do ppl here talk about awakening as f2p before the patch?

But isn't it better to awaken a 2* gem and put 1* 10th rank into it to get an additional dmg bonus than to awaken a 5* which I need 2* at rank 10? I think it's more profitable, especially since games like Fervent Fang, Pain Clasp, Mother's Lament, Viper's Bite are still VERY good. I'm mainly talking about F2P here.
Personally I need many fully ranked 2 star gems to insert into my 5 star awakened gems

I’m still running mostly 2* and 1. Struggling to rank them. Relying on gear. How do I get more powerful? Answer that . Tell all other creators. How. Sick of this. I spend nothing. No $ explain how I get more powerful.
I dont even have 2 star with me. I better keeping all rank 10 1 star with awaken gear. Resonance aside i can have 100 %uptine for all skill😊

So the system does work just like the normal Gem Resonance system. The only difference is that there is less limitation than the original gem res system. Where the original system has a set of required gems that you need to insert, the new system allows you to insert any gem, of any rank, including dormant gems(at an even further reduced Resonance amount). THis does give a little more flexibility, but the amount given is still +2 for a 2* and +10 per rank for a 5*
Personally I think this system is stupid. There is simply no benefit to alienating a large portion of the playerbase by restricting this so severely. 8k res is still a $50,000+ investment and its ridiculous to have such a high bar set if they also expect to maintain a reasonable playerbase. Whales cannot just exist on their own, there has to be players from the full spectrum of F2P low / mid spend and up.
Markets are dead everywhere. Pets being introduced sparked a mass of people buying platinum without having to sacrifice gems and Gem power, so to spark the markets back into being somewhat active they intended to push whales and anybody close to 8k and up to spend again, people that had mostly stopped and were focusing on secondary stats took the bait and here we are. It also pushes the highest spenders that are mostly done with legendary gems into buying more, so its just to maximize their profits it seems.
All around very stupid. With the limitation on spending now forcing prices to be listed for the minimum only its forced people into mass undercutting, secondary gem prices are great if you are buying and horrendous if it was your source of income.
All around bummer patch situation imo.
