      Wonderful, it is a very good selection that still stays compact and bushy, and above all is easy to grow and very reliable.
      Remember, there's plenty more where it came from.....
      So, during the main planting season (spring through late Fall) try to visit our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ they are located all over our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region, because that's where you will find all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections like this one. So be sure to stop in regularly to see them for yourself.

      Thank you, I find it very interesting, and it helps to understand the work and effort that it takes to bring us new plants. But it also (often) helps to understand the best growing conditions for the plants. For instance, now when I look at this gorgeous little plant, I think of the sunny, rugged, mountainous conditions in SW Turkey and that helps me choose the right site for growing it.

    I expect to upset people but if Proven Winners wants people to buy their plants there should be care and maintenance as well. When I open a video to learn from it I don't want to be shown just the plant without doing something with it. I appreciate the work that goes into these but it doesn't help me. I want to know how to maintain so it continues to bloom. Where do I trim them back, etc. Thank you for the video but it didn't help people like me.

      Adrian,
      Thanks for your comments, and incidentally, you are not upsetting us one little bit! Rather, your constructive comments are appreciated and helpful. When doing our videos, I try to remember to include at least some pertinent information on the maintenance and upkeep of the plants. But, I am also mindful of the duration... and the communication "experts" tell us that most people only watch videos for very short periods, so regrettably, I am often faced with the dilemma of trying to keep them long enough to impart the most important points but short enough not to sound like I am "blethering" on and boring anyone.
      Based on your points (in our more recent videos), we are now making a conscious effort to include more little tips and advice on how to look after the plants. Meanwhile, if there's anything that you are wondering about, or you wish to push us a bit further on... feel free to drop us a question or comment, and I will do my best to try to answer it or perhaps include it in a new video. Thanks again, for taking the trouble to let us know your views.

      Nepeta Cat's Pajamas is one of our favorites, and well worth getting, it is a superb little plant that you are going to LOVE!
      Also, it is good that you spotted Eryngium 'Jade Frost' - a divine variegated Sea Holly for sunny, well-drained spots. Here's a link to a video that will tell you all about it:
      czcams.com/video/Hid1zvMKahU/video.html
      FYI, this video was filmed in our shipping area, just before these plants were sent to hundreds of our partnering garden centers located across our region. Here's a link that will help you find where they are positioned: grownbyoverdevest.com/
      Also we are adding new videos like this to our channel all the time. Thank you, if you've been watching any of our other videos you may have noticed that we are intrigued by the often untold (and fascinating) stories behind many if the plants we commonly grow in our gardens. And, in this case we neglected to include this in our narration, so thank you for prompting the subject.
      The term "Cat's Pajamas" is an idiom that describes something outstanding and exceptional, something that is very special and highly admired. And in this case, it is most appropriate because this is a SUPERB little perennial that has become one of our all time, favorite Catmints.... one that everyone should enjoy having in their gardens.
      What is interesting is that it stems like a lot of other idioms from my native Great Britain. You see, as understand it, there was a English tailor (E. B. Katz) in the early 1800s that made the finest silk pyjamas (British spelling), for the aristocracy and wealthy patrons. They were preferred over night shirts because they were cool and comfortable, and became highly sought after..... and known as "Katz’ Pyjamas"!
      Then over time, the "K" became a "C" to be known as "Cat’s Pyjamas" and eventually here in the US the spelling got changed to "Pajamas" but the association of them representing the best you can buy stuck!
      So when our friends at Walters Gardens were searching for a name that adequately described this superlative little plant, the name Cat's Pajamas was a natural and very descriptive suggestion.
      Incidentally, anyone that is looking for it, should check in with some of our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/

      My cat rolled in the scent of the cat's pajamas on my canvas bag after they leaned together in the car. Maybe the cats would roll all over them and get covered in it like they're wearing pajamas? 🐈💜

    Between the "purrsian blue" and the "cat's pajamas," which nepeta has a more true blue color?

    • @OverdevestNurseries
      @OverdevestNurseries  Před 3 lety +5

      Rachel, that's a tough question!
      In side by side comparisons, I would say that Cat's Pajamas is a little darker but Purrsian Blue is more profuse in flowering and therefore probably more showy, but neither have much in the way of "true blue color"!
      As you probably know, blue (true blue) is the choicest color in plant color spectrum, and Nepetas (to my eye) are really more towards purple and lilac shades, so I can't really say much except BOTH are EXCEPTIONAL plants and worthy of a coveted spot in everyone's garden! Fortunately, both are compact growers too, so unless you have very limited space, I would suggest you enjoy them both for the fantastic plants that they are!

    • @OverdevestNurseries
      @OverdevestNurseries  Před rokem +1

      There's no plants we know of, that will deter cats.
      The Nepetas (Catmint) we grow and offer through our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ are superb garden plants that are easy to grow and reliably put on a terrific show.
      If you decide to visit some of these places, ask about animal repellents because many of them will stock products that are designed to deter other animals and maybe they would work for cats too.
