Those were the days. Less is more. I'm not onto full face glam it takes away from real beauty.

I remember a few years ago, I went to a holiday park/centre and there was a little, quiet bar there and I saw the most Beautiful woman I had ever seen. She was in her seventies, short grey hair, no make up, playing cards with her husband and friends. She had the most beautiful smile and a glow about her. I honestly could not stop looking at her and it totally redefined my idea of beauty.
To look that good at that age, you need to start with good bone structure. When nature and gravity take their course, your bone structure lets your skin drape more attractively.
Mine was a lawyers wife I met at a local grocery store. He introduced her. Probably near 80. Just beyond "pretty" I mean PRETTY!!!!! I told friends repeatedly just wow pretty.

Yes I do remember that movie. I actually wouldn't mind seeing it again now that we can just press a few buttons on our televisions or phones. I remember when I heard her tell a story of a day she was riding the subway and someone came up to her saying what is she doing riding the subway as if it's the most dangerous thing to do in the world. Her reaction was pretty much that's what you do in New York. I fell in love.❤
The gentleman who stopped her actually meant it like she was a treasure and should be chauffeured around but that wasn't really her 24/7. ❤😊

One of the reasons I gravitate to UK and European tv is they know how to age gracefully. No delusions of trying staying young. Beauty comes from youth sure, but also confidence and experience.
Yes, 🇬🇧 tv has actors who look like the rest of us. They get jobs because of their talent not their looks . I don’t even watch USA tv shows at all. Thankful for Britbox and acorn tv!

@@cristinakarlin5589Jamie was one of the first Hollywood stars to be very open about the work she’s had done and her problems with image issues and the unrealistic demands of the industry. I think she also mentioned comparisons to her famous mum were a major issue too, and her poor mum suffered lifelong ED to try to fit in. Decades before anyone else was so open.
I’ll disagree with you on the hair, always think she’s rocked that style brilliantly, it suits her. Not all women should have to aspire to the ultra feminine look, there’s room for all looks and styles.

We need more of this. When i let my hair go natural to Gray hair, my bff, said you need to dye that you look old. My reply was I am old and I don't care, I'll do me and you do you.

My 66-year-old sister tells me the same thing, to dye my hair. I'm 64 and am still medium brown with white "highlights" while she pays $300/month to be platinum blond, which to me looks fake and makes her look older. I'll take my look any day.
@KarenPaasche-qj6tf my mother had dark brunette and it flushed through with a steely grey. My father had golden blonde and it mixed with silver. They both went grey beautifully.
I started going grey at 19. When I was in my 40s I decided to dye my hair ( mostly on a whim) kinda like a why not moment. It was a mixed bag. Some people told me I looked so much younger and better and I should keep the color ( medium brown) and others told me I had a fabulous head of silver grey and why cover it. I did redye it as the roots become noticeable but I dyed it much lighter blond so I could grow it out less noticeably.
I found my first grey hair at 18 and this past year (I’m now 34) have decided to grow out all the dye I’d been putting on it since then. I’m also someone who never wants any kind of cosmetic surgery to try and retain any youth, all I want to retain is my health and my sanity 😂

God, I loved Jessica Tandy so much. SO MUCH. Fried Green Tomatoes, Driving Miss Daisy, Batteries not Included…Cocoon, Still of the Night, The World According to Garp….I watched those movies over & over again when I was a kid. I probably have every line of Fried Green Tomatoes memorized. Whenever I think of Jessica Tandy, I can literally hear her voice in my head saying “You know, a heart can be broken, but it keeps on beating, just the same,” and for some reason, the little sound she made when she took a bite out of the fried green tomatoes Evelyn made for her birthday….I hear that too.
It broke my little 14 year old heart the day she died. But she lived a full, beautiful life. And she gave us so much. ❤

If you haven’t seen Nobody’s Fool (1994 starring Paul Newman), I highly highly recommend. It was Jessica Tandy’s last film, and she is amazing in it.

Sometime ago, I rebelled against the standard Hubby gave me in dyeing my hair, the constant dietieting and making up. When he asked why I wasn't doing that any more I said.
"I'm not doing that any mire because I don't expect You to live your beer belly, dye Your hair or wear a wig. I still love you, we're just older. Why can't we be honest about that?"

Eats animals again after being a vegan. Sorry, but that's ugly on the inside. When carnivores do it, not knowing HOW MUCH ANIMALS SUFFER it's different from someone who knows how much animals suffer and chose to kill by supporting killing, going as far as working on a cookbook. Ugly on the inside makes her ugly on the outside, not that she was ever very pretty anyway.
I’m starting to get grey hair and it’s soooo nice seeing people like Jamie who embrace it. ❤it helps me a lot. I was plucking them out until I met a doctor who was around my age and she had beautiful salt and pepper hair.
My mother had beautiful salt & pepper - from dark brunette to a steely grey.
My mother did as well. She looked so much better when she let her hair go all grey and got a short sassy haircut.
I struggle with letting my hair go gray. I'm still not ready to let myself go gray . I have colored my hair for years. After listening to Jamie Lou Curtis and the one comment about looking like coloring your hair but looking old to color your hair I may be ready. Not quite yet but I wonder what I would look like old. Even though I am old. I'm still afraid 😮😢

Just wanted to acknowledge that even if celebrities go down the natural route they have unlimited access to skincare treatments and products, access to private chefs to prepare healthy meals for them, can source the best quality food, money to have fun with and take trips whenever they want, access to personal trainers, access to top of the line mental health care. Just saying that normal people shouldn't be comparing their version of natural to Drew Barrymore's.

Im 58 and I have only worn foundation and made up my face with blusher etc only once for a stage performance. In my late 40s. Other than that, I only wear mascara and lipstick sometimes. Mostly for special events, I've only had one manicure way back in 1984 and never had a pedicure or spa treatment or facial. Frankly, I dont like make-up seems silly to go to so much bother.

I’ve never seen anybody that looked better after Botox or plastic surgery. They always look fake. They look like they’re fighting aging. And they look like they lost the battle. It’s an improvement. It never is. look what Melanie Griffith and Goldie Hawn have done to themselves. They were so beautiful and they would’ve been beautiful as they age but they look like a science project gone wrong now. It’s sad.
