I’ve a Red 1988 205 1.0L XE as well. It actually starts from cold at the minute without choke most mornings but it just doesn’t pull away without either choke or stalling until it’s warmed up. Only bought it a few weeks ago. I guess the winter will be fun!
You won't find the sound and touch of this car in new cars.. about starting it's carburator, not injection, it's like Dc3 aicraft engine, it need time but when started it's a pleasure...take care
@@that205style Yeah my DTR is over twenty years old but still goes well...a good older car like that will certainly grow in value as well. Will look out for some more vids over the winter🤪
@@dt125guy7 yeah i defo will make some more cold start videos even tho it is sort of the same thing everytime it is still fun to do them. Just waiting for some snow next time i do one because that would be better haha. i will try my best to keep the rust away as well but i dont think that these rusted as near as bad as the other cars at its time :). remind me what DTR is haha ;)

usually in colder weather i get in the car then press the clutch twice, press gas 3 or 4 times to get fuel through then put clutch in and pull choke and turn the key to start
the keys have never got in the way of the choke ever, and i can also quickly open the door and the choke is really close so i don’t have to reach over to push it back in
that interior looks pristine, i can only wish to have mine the same way

TU sound. I've got a 1.4 GR from 1992 and sounds the same. Carburated, it needs to pull out the starter. Real good cars

@@Manualchoke I had the same model up until 1999, C Reg. Quite normal for it to do this, but was sweet once it was warmed up ☺️

Runs sweet when its fired up - my DT takes 3-4 mins to warm up on choke before it will take revs properly.
yeah mine is the same actually. if you dont give it enough time then it wont want to drive in the cold that much haha!

Ive got a Peugoet 205 GL 1.1, starting it without a choker is almost impossible and in slow traffic or hills it struggles to stay going!
yeah mine is exactly the same but i’m not sure if this is normal

Not very convenient having the ignition key and the choke on the same side. Have to try to juggle the two with one hand.
the keys have never got in the way of the choke ever, and i can also quickly open the door and the choke is really close so i don’t have to reach over to push it back in
