    We need someone to stitch together all of the bass jams over the years into a single vid for a long-running music vid!

    I like those HB guitars, whether it be 4 or 6 stringers. My Enhanced MP-4MN Rocks the world. What a sound for it’s price. Very versatile!

    I gigged my pj74 a whole season with a few upgrades and a set of quarter pounds. Killer bass and one of the best necks you can play no matter the price. I sold it for little less than what I paid. Maybe I'll get a pj75 sometime.

    • @Vinterloft
      @Vinterloft Před 2 lety

      I went with the MP-5 because of the P-pickup configuration, it makes more sense to have the pickup position be closer to the neck on the lighter strings, not the thicker strings. The PJ uses the old experimental 2006 Fender Modern style configuration. Neither bass copies the "canon" Fender configuration, but MP-5 sounds better to me, probably because the pickups it comes with are much better and less microphonic. Also stainless steel frets with 0-fret is a godsend

      @octavelocity Před 2 lety

      Completely agree. One of the best necks around on the PJ75 as well.

      Recently purchased one off of reverb (used) and it’s great. Been a long time guitar player, picking up bass to see if I can get good enough to take over for bass in a friend’s band next year when they’ll lose their current bass player.
      What gauge and brand strings do you use? I think this has med/lights DR nickel blues on them, and the e string gets fret buzz on frets 1-3. Action is nice and low but wonder if I should go with a lighter gauge or raise action a bit. I know some of it is me figuring out where to place my fingers on the frets and finger strength compared to guitar. Though I guess lighter strings may make it worse if the truss needs loosening a bit, if that’s the issue.
      The only other issue I have ran into is static build up on the pick guard started last week. Something I have ran into on my guitars, but I know it happens with pick guards. So need to get maybe put some shielding underneath it and get some dryer sheets.

      with a p-bass you can‘t go wrong completely. it is not the most versatily bass, but even a cheap one sounds normally pretty good.

    • @bbbbojangles2737
      @bbbbojangles2737 Před rokem

      Well not really. The Harley Benton comes with a nice setup from the factory, so you'll be able to play it comfortably right away, but it all depends on your skill level. It's on par with the new Squier stuff. And that's some pretty decent stuff these days.

    • @linguafranca86

      Just received it today and I couldn't be happier. I was affraid the neck was going to be chunky like the last cheap SG bass I bought. But this neck feels good.
      Also the intonation is outstanding. Barely needed to tweak it.
      1 small point of attention were 2 tuner bushings that weren't seated properly, so I had to remove those strings and push them into place with some pliers.
      Hope they'll stay in place.... no big deal I think it will be allright.
      Great bass!! Feels and looks better than most cheap bases out there.

    I love mine. My Collection ranges from basses for 100€ to 1500€ and this one is my favorite. Plays like heaven. Only downside is the terrible humming from the single coil J Pickup. Most older instruments do so, but i decided to change the pickups. Just bought the EMG Geezer Butler Pickups, a Fender Hi Mass Bridge and Gotoh Machines. Let‘s see what happens 😁

    I don't get one thing. Since the bridge position has such a thin sound compared to the middle/neck one, why don't we get higher winding pickups in the bridge position to compensate? Why is it so frequent to have configurations like a PJ or an EB3, rather than the other way around?

    • @richardrichard5409
      @richardrichard5409 Před rokem

      More windings make for a louder pup but the sound suffers accordingly, over wound makes for a darker sound, less highs, the opposite of what a bridge pick up should be. Underwound is more scooped in midrange, more highs....its all a compromise

    Am I the only one who can never make PJ basses work? When the two pickups are engaged at the same time, you lose volume and definition. This has been the case with every PJ bass I've ever played, I usually just give up after a while and end up using just the P

    • @ernieD
      @ernieD Před 2 lety

      Bought a new, MM Sire P-7 P/J 5er last year. First time I've been able to use a P/J pupped bass so well and getting great tones from both or individual pups with or mostly w/o the active preamp. Pretty good basses for the price. I own 2 Sires' now.

    • @Vinterloft
      @Vinterloft Před 2 lety

      Try the MP-5, the humbucker in the bridge doesn't do this (or the electronics compensate as it's active, I'm not sure which)

    • @lewishowells6021
      @lewishowells6021 Před rokem

      With any 2 pickup bass you can achieve a fatter sound by turning the volume down ever so slightly on one of the pickups. Not sure why this is but it's an audible difference compared to both pickup volumes being on '10'

    Dear Gregor, I think you should consider having Julia Hofer, Nik West (my bass teacher who played with Prince) and more women bassists come on your channel to demonstrate the gear that you showcase. As you know, there are more women playing basses today than ever before! Professor Nik West is scheduled to open for Lenny Kravitz, somewhere in Germany, in May, June or July this year. Maybe you can catchup with her then…Until Next Time, Take Good Care, Vince
