Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, Canadian classic prog rock guitar teacher on CZcams. I grew up on classic 70s prog but abandoned it in the late 80s. Prog seemed dead and my orig. prog band was told by labels we were too prog. So i went onto grunge, pop, then folk, then strictly acoustic solo guitar etc...staying loyal to my staples like Yes and Rush, BUT 2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery that SO much great prog went on that I'd totally missed out on. So join me as I catch up on 30 years of prog!

This is my favourite too from the album, especially when those subtle drums kick in, then that long slow harmonica - just wow!

I absolutely love this track, my favorite from the album ever since the first time I heard it. It just forces me into a certain mood that I really love to experience.

@@deanwolfechannel I would dare suggest you react to Mark Hollis's solo record if you want even more like this.

Or maybe go back one album to Spirit of Eden before going forward to his solo album. Spirit of Eden is a masterpiece in my humble opinion.

Fantastic track, which looks backwards to Sibelius' Tapiola (from which it presumably takes its name) and also forwards to Radiohead, where you could almost believe it was from Kid A.
Also it has a very different mood from most of Talk Talk - much darker.

In another video of yours i mcommented about a track in which God makes an appearance.. this is the track. You nailed it with the “The Brass is telling a story here” comment.
It is my interpretation of course, but the segment feels almost otherwoldly. Quite a feat on an album that in general feels otherworldly.
Vaughan Williams has a few places were i get a similar feeling but on other topics. Romanza from his 5th symphony especially. There i see it as a sting of pain associated with love.
No, i am not high. ;)
