ISO certificate completion ceremony of Khyber Teaching Hospital (MTI-KTH), took place at 5h floor, KTH Auditorium on the 11th of February, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
Esteemed Mr. Taimur Khan Jhagra, Minister for Finance & Health in KP, was the chief guest of the ceremony. Various collaborative efforts were discussed including quality healthcare.
Chairman board of governance KTH/KMC/KCD, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Khawar emphasized the importance of patient safety & care.
Dean Khyber Medical College Prof. Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb, hospital director Dr. Zafar Afridi & associate hospital director Drsaud Islam Malik also declare their gratitude to KTH - board of governance & staff dedication on such a big achievement.

Esteemed health minister Mr. Taimur Khan Jhagra said Khyber Teaching Hospital is one of the historic hospitals of Pakistan which has got ISO-9001:2015 certificate. Only two government hospitals of Pakistan have been able to get this certificate. Both the hospitals are in Pakhtunkhwa which is the face of revolutionary reforms of KP Government. This honor of Khyber Teaching Hospital is a source of pride for the whole province. Reforms in the health department are inevitable. Strict measures are to be taken for the betterment of the people. Minister for Health and Finance Taimur Khan Jhagra addressed the event at Khyber Teaching Hospital.
So far, only two of the government hospitals in Pakistan are ISO certified, both in Pakhtunkhwa. Earlier, the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology was nominated for the award. He was speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony held at Khyber Teaching Hospital in honor of obtaining ISO certification. Secretary Health Tahir Orakzai, Special Secretary Farooq Jamil, Dean Khyber Medical College Prof. Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb, Chairman Board of Governors. The Hospital Director and others attended.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Health and Finance Taimur Khan Jhagra said that this honor of Khyber Teaching Hospital is a source of pride for the entire province and obtaining such certificates would promote healthy competition among the hospitals, which aimed to provide best health facilities to the public.
He said that this certification is a start and maintaining this standard is a challenge which is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the hospital management to provide the best facilities to the patients.
Regarding the significant increase in the efficiency of the health department, the health minister said that in the limited resources of the province, the five hospitals of Pakhtunkhwa's LRH, KTH and HMC have outstanding role during covid 19 pandemics.
Chairman Board of Governance KTH/KMC/KCD, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Khawar emphasized the importance of patient safety & care. Further he said its continuous process to maintain the quality system & final product for us is public satisfaction. Different Clauses are involved in ISO certification like leadership commitment, planning, support, operations measures & performance evaluation.
2+ billion projects are in the pipe line which includes 20 OT’s, 6 wards, MRI new machine, IB base surveillance system, management information system, revamping of ground floor etc.
Our next plan will be KMC/KCD/KTH lab ISO certification & most probably next eye will be on JCIA.
Dean Khyber Medical College Prof Dr. Mahmud Aurangzeb warmly welcomes the health minister and appreciates the team efforts for ISO achievement & idea is to bring the institute to international level.
Quality assurance consultant Dr.Haseeb Ullah gave his remarks. It seemed difficult at the beginning when the task was handed over to me but with the help of management it became possible.
Hospital director Dr. Zafar Afridi said by the Grace Almighty ALLAH in less time we achieved this goal. Moreover he requested the health minister for some financial aid to improve the infrastructure of the hospital.
At the end Associate hospital director Dr. Saud Islam also declare his gratitude to KTH - management, board of governance policies & staff dedication on such a big achievement. Moreover he said behind every success there is a powerful vision which was supported by the Board of Governance, dean KMC & health minister.
