Will you you grade nfl teams 2022 draft classes after year 1
He's built to be a center.
@@penguinzero180 yes
He looks good. Super calm and fluid. I see the power in the hands
If you was 6'8 400 lbs you would move that way too but this dude is an athlete with his hands !!!
I heard he was 360 to 370
@@marcuspope3387 368/375
Orlando Brown sr and Orlando Brown jr are that size and are and were really good players.
360lbs
Thanks for the film, as always. I'm a Buckeyes fan, so I know Dwand's limitations. He would best fit in a man blocking scheme, where foot speed isn't quite the priority as a zone scheme.
Will he fit in chiefs ? Apparently lot of mock drafts are picking chiefs to draft him
Dawand Jones is a freak but can't help but watch Cody Mauch in these clips too. Nice to see he has the versatility to kick inside if needed. That run that went all the way was all him. He took on two defenders and cleared the hole.
He was playing LT, LG, and C too.
I noticed him too. Not too shabby.
But Mauch is getting pushed a lot
Welcome to the Cleveland Browns, Dawand! Looking forward to watching you maul Steelers, Ravens, & Bengals 💪🏼
Dawand Jones is a massive man! Dude looks like an NFL RT playing O line with high school football players.
Dominating dudes like Trent Brown did a few years ago.
Those hands got some pop. Baby Tyron Smith
Baby ??!
This guy is the BEST! I don’t just mean good…..I am talking Orlando Pace and Corey Stringer good! The kid is a great Buckeye, great man and extremely athletic! He is a great man to be around! Very humorous! He is everything that is GOOD about College Football! I am going to miss him in the Scarlet and Gray SO MUCH! Good luck big guy!
Darnell Wright and Dawand Jones are going to be good OT in the NFL. Both guys are sound in their technique.
First clip shown Dawand Jones is wrong. He isn't the only lineman wrong on the first play shared.
DJones should aggressively slide across the 5 tech and get eyes on the 7 tech. RG works with him with an aggressive slide to work blocking the 5 tech. DJones should keep left arm on the 5 tech until he sees the 7 tech commit to a rush. If he doesn't then the 5 tech is naturally doubled team by the RG and RT as the eyes from DJones looks for any D gap pressure.
Play action back reads from MLB (inside #1 LB) to any other pressure that might be from a FS or unblocked DB or LB.
LT and LG need to work together to take the 3 tech to the QLB ( inside number 2 LB). This prevents an effective A gap QLB pressure.
The sliding playside H back (#87) slides over to seal the backside 7 tech on the opposite side.
The TE (#81) influence steps that backside 7 tech to occupy his eyes to buy leverage for the sliding H back and also leverages the SS eyes to get him to look inside on the play fake setting him up to beat the SS to the flat.
The issue here is both sides of the line make mistakes. Duncan is not in charge of the 7 tech in this concept. DJones's steps are wrong because he misunderstood the concept of the play. However, this is totally understandable in a practice setting such as this. New plays and its only Day 3 of Senior Bowl week.
The bigger point though is this: during implementation meetings where plays and responsibilities are being discussed, players have to show they grasped what was taught and they can transfer that to the field correctly.
Football IQ is super important in evaluating players. I would always tell my assistant coaches, anyone can see who passes the eye ball test, big, fast, good hands, athletic and strong. I need them to tell me who are the smart players. Can they take what was instructed from the meeting room and correctly apply it consistently.
This post isn't to say the first play says players are not smart, because more than one was wrong on this concept on the first clip. It is just too share what coaches look at in their evaluations of a player. If there is consistent mistakes on understanding concepts, no doubt a players stock drops.
Keep up the hard work Sanjit. Really appreciate the end zone looks that you share.
He will be a monster if he can drop 40 pounds to enhance his foot speed to realign his feet against power speed rushers. If he keeps the same weight he will have trouble at the NFL level.
He is an amazing prospect, I have to wonder about his speed and footwork on NFL speedy outside pass rushers.
Denver Broncos NEED this guy!
Chuck Noll once said that they all look good in their shorts and shoulder pads.
His hand placement needs a ton of work and with his size, he will struggle against pure speed
Supposed to be his strength
What's wrong with his hand placement I like what I'm seeing I'd love to have him if we could get him in the 3rd probably have to trade up though
Dawand Jones has 1st round talent and could be one of the very best tackles of this draft.
But teams are terrified he's gonna be another Aaron Gibson and 400lb his way out of the league.
Classic high-upside pick
What a steal by my browns
With the 28th pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the cincinnati Bengals select.....
Trent Baalkes type of player, he likes them big strong ,athletic dudes..Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with Jags especially with Jawaan Taylor gone
So much for him falling into the 2nd....
Man, if the Bears can put him next to Teven Jenkins boi, that's a problem
I would rather get Wright
The Bengals really need a good right tackle. Collins was injured and they are not sure when he is coming back. A New right tackle such as Jones would be a great fit for the Bengals. That is if they take an offensive tackle with pick number 1. I hope they will , but we will see. The Bengals also need a good running back.
This is why i really hope My Titan pick up Paris Johnson and Dawand Jones as a pair. These two are in sync as pair on the right side. First i was looking at film for Paris since his been brought up on mock draft for my Titans, then i notice 79. This guy stood out to me . These two as a pair will be solid on the right side for any team and i hope on Titans team lol.
He plays basketball so he is athletic he would be a hoot to watch on goal line tackle eligible plays
I don't think he'll make it past Pittsburgh at #17. Considering they need OT's badly, and i'm hearing a lot about Skoronski and B. Jones getting moved to Guards possibly.
Nice work.. I like what I see..👍🏼 dude is massive… Darnell Wright and Stromberg/Vorhees are also guys that I hope they are considering for the Bears..
Vorhees is loosing money this week.
I'm taking him if I need a OT
Every team could use another OT
I watch anthropology stuff and he looks like a giant out there.
Hopefully Bengals pick him up
Bears GM Poles needs to trade the 9th pick down to the 25th-28th range while acquiring additional picks. With the lower pick, Poles should draft Ohio State RT Dawan Jones. There is plenty of evaluated films of him on the internet available to review. His Senior Bowl film is ridiculous...he bullied anyone that lined up in front of him on passing downs and destroyed anyone in his way on running plays. He has the widest wingspan in the history of the NFL. AT 6'-8" and weighing 360 lbs. he has a jarring punch and simply overpowers someone trying to get around him. There is no sense in trying to bull-rush him. His exceptional long arms keep defenders away and off balance. According to some stats...he did not allow a single sack or pressure last year playing against some of the most elite college talents. Dawan Jones will be a pro-bowl right tackle for years to come. Dawan Jones playing next to Teven Jenkins would be the most fearsome duo in the NFL.
Remind me of big whit while with the rams
I hope bengals are able to get him before he is gone we need to upgrade we tried to upgrade didn't work out
Gonna look good in KC
I’m hoping my Bears draft Paris Johnson at 9 and Dawand Jones with one of there multiple 2nds to really lock down those tackle positions for Fields. Free agency I’m hoping they go Guards and Center so both tackles have a vet next to them who can help them.
I hope the raiders are scouting him
I want the bears to draft him so badly
I want Wright or Torrence
Just like one of the top commenters said, I think he'll get eaten alive by speedy edge rushers and blitzing LB's and DB's. Sometimes size ain't shit if you don't have the quick feet and legs.
What value for my Brownies!
If fast on feet guy looks like niner dream pick.
Got Dallas Cowboys draft pick written all over him!
Running back playing like Justin Fargas used to for the Silver and Black
He would instantly be the best lineman on the Bears!
Him n Tevin Jenkins on the right side
@@johnmuhammad4421 our line would be right side dominant for sure!
Jets will have a good selection of OL talent available to them from rounds 1 - 3.
I'm sorry Sanjit, but he seems a bit slow afoot. I can't help but feel a speed rusher will have a field day with him. He is a monster though and point of attack run blocking is right up his alley as long as he doesn't have to pull too far.
Yeah, he looks like he needs to increase his speed. Definitely big, strong and that reach is tough.
Yea but with those long arms how much does he need to push a speed rusher off his mark....he doesn't back up...there is no space
I spoke about just that, half ways through. I definitely saw this on tape toom
He destroyed speed rushers like Flosky in one on one drills. I do wonder if he could play in a stretch zone offense, because of his lack of foot speed.
Michigan Wolverine D-ends have eaten his lunch the last two seasons consecutively. No question it’s a long way to get around such a huge tackle, but he won’t make it long if he doesn’t learn to get quicker.
I really hope he’s still available in the third
Team changer
Get this guy a niner jersey
I would like a team to draft both Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington and just watch that team run to the right and never get negative yards.
Wish the giants would
@@ajkareem5685 Giants need WR first
I wonder if someone will draft and get him to move to Defense 😅 #Seahawks 💙💚
KC gets their bully right tackle!
There are several tackles with far better feet, If he trimmed down about 50 pounds and really worked on his footwork he would be really good at the next level, but, when he does his kickstep and shuffle his feet are almost right next to each other. NFL defensive end or outside linebacker is gonna knock him over and eat his quarterback alive, as far as the run blocking goes he's an animal he reminds me a lot of Orlando Brown but without the foot work. He's pretty much Daniel Falalah but plays for a way better school so gets more notoriety.
Probably top right tackle..will be drafted top 10…
No way he’s drafted top 10
@@asmodeus1274 maybe not too top 10 could be drafted late first rd. There are some tackle that are his size get drafted middle to late first rd. Ohio st does produce some good and very good oline in the nfl.
@@klohr311 Yeah I’m thinking some where late in first round maybe high second. If he was a LT, then maybe 10 through 15.
@@asmodeus1274 left tackle is hit or miss in the first rd imo…it’s very tricky to get franchise left tackle..🤷🏻♂️..best of luck to him and see how his combine result is…
@@klohr311 I don’t know about that hit and miss at LT. The Cowboys definitely hit on Tyler Smith last year (not Tyron Smith, even though they hit on him too) One is definitely going to be a Hall of Famer and the other is likely to be.
Can't coach 6'8" 400
RAIDERS SHOULD TRADE UP TO GET THIS GUY. BUT THEY PROBABLY WON'T.
Naww dude is a project player, who's going to need a season or two of refining. I like what we have in our project OL from last season, Thayor Munford. If this dude is available in the 2nd round (assuming we have a 2nd round pick) I might pull the trigger.
Stop the cap he is not 400lbs. He was coming out of high school.
Hopefully the patriots get him
Mauch and Broderick jones for the titans please
He'll be a holding machine if he makes NFL I'm afraid.
more like Pancake machine!
Niners to get Jones and Steve Avila C from TCU. That will fix their Oline.
Chiefs
Why didn't he play in the game??!!
Would I take him at 7. No.
My first question, why is he playing as a senior and not entering as a junior. Late bloomer, not motivated, couldn't beat his predecessor, etc.
Is he just a PBS. He's massive but don't think any scheme is for him.
Overthinking it
Nah....maybe a late 2nd rd pic at best. These are drills and it shows he is to slow for longterm NFL success. Drop 40 lbs and we go from there. Jonathan Ogden was 6'8 345 but had footwork
Jones has both bad footwork in and takes bad angles at shallow depths in pass pro. Mauler in the run game though. He needs more explosion out of his set.
Could he play guard?
That would mean not using his wingspan and length on the outside and relying on his lateral movement skills (not a strength with his massive size), while a zone running scheme team could get away with it, it wouldn't be ideal. In a power run scheme (pulling guards often) it wouldn't be wise.
3rd round at best
Pittsburgh Steelers #1 need a true NT
Too much weight. His knees won’t last. He will have to slim down a lot.
49ers need Jones
I'm seeing some different things then you. Not as dominant as you say .not doing that much not very athletic.
I feel like he would be better at guard
Not really His arm length is strength at Tackle position
