    I saw a post one time on reddit and this guy said he was an atheist and his coworker or someone found out. So the person says to him, what’s keeping you from killing someone or raping someone if you don’t believe in God? He was like “because it’s shitty to kill people and raping is wrong?“
    If you need a bible and all this to be a good person, something is essentially wrong with you as a human and you need help.

    • @Bhaxs
      @Bhaxs Před 2 lety +5

      That is not the point being made. Can you explain why it is ''shitty' to kill people and what the meaning of wrong is? Why is it wrong? Sometimes killing someone is justified right?
      Everybody instictively knows that killing someone is wrong and that rape is wrong. But WHY? Where does the conscience come from? Is Gods law written on our hearts? Or do we just say that it is wrong so it is wrong?
      We do not need the bible to know basic right from wrong, this is true. But the bible confirms our conscience.
      But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people - Jeremiah 31:33

      The ABILITY to empathize is learned and can be taught.
      People are born with different emphathetic capacities. Some people have more some have less, depending on the genetic make-up. But you can still nurture them to have empathy even with a low capacity.
      When you have a empathy disorder, it is partly due to genetics but MOSTLY due to nurture. Did they have a good childhood ? Were they born in a war torn country? What kind of morals and ethics were they taught? What kind of friends did they have?

      I’m Asian but I look middle eastern. My identity was always based on my religion. Like yourself, it wasn’t until I ventured into learning Mandarin and a bit of Korean, that I started to appreciate not only my own Asian ancestry but Asia, as a whole.

    Shapel's story is like me and anime. When I was growing up, predominantly black country, where I lived didn't have much anime fans. Like if I go to school might be a few but like maybe ten who were opened about it. It was better if you stated that you like punk music than anime. That too was still stigmatized but more acceptable. It was worse in university. Stated it to a couple of people throughout whenever they asked about my hobbies and interests. Once in a group setting and this happened. One person declared that anime was for children. Luckily, another fan was in the group and defended the idea that anyone can watch it. Made a friend that day too. And so befriended the other as he too agreed anyone could watch it. Funny enough became friends more with the disbelief person as I lost touch with the anime fan. He still not really a fan of it though. So his mind was not changed. But accepted the idea as such. We talked on and off for years now. Now, I see it much more talked about more openly as even my siblings are into it but there is some stigma about it though.

    There were two reasons for me to stop believing in Christianity. One, was the statement, don't you believe in the Bible. In Jesus' time, the everyday person did not have a Bible (maybe for religious leaders). They used scrolls because the printing press was not invented yet. Two, the clincher, Jesus lied which he was supposed to not be able to. All the miracles he performed, he said everybody would be able to do it. My favorite was changing water into wine. He even said that they would do more different types of miracles than he even performed. Remember, his miracles were instantaneous. In the last 2,000 years, how many people were able to do the things that Jesus did? The only thing they (organized religions) are able to do now is to miraculously pull money from our pockets.

    • @Bhaxs
      @Bhaxs Před 2 lety

      1) The people at that time did not have the Bible . But they had Jesus walking amongst them in the flesh.
      2) Miracles still happen today. People's heart being changed from darkness to light. For example there are a lot of testimonies of people addicted to drugs accepting Jesus into their lives and after that being changed. This is the true miracle. People with no hope and purpose being changed into people with a higher purpose. People that were '''dead'' raised up from ''death' into life.
      Exorcism have been performed. There are documented exorcisms that you can look into.
      A lot of miracles in wartime have happened aswell , for example the Battle of Antioch 1098 AD.
      Luke 11:29
      And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.

    With domestic abuse towards men, there’s always another way… men always want to talk about how ‘biologically stronger’ they are then women then want to say it should be equal grounds to hit chicks? In a domestic abuse situation where a guy is being hit by a woman, while there are many mental health factors that stop people from getting help, including societal norms, the best way is to always leave or be defensive and block a hit rather than hit back. Domestic abuse either way is never okay and men hitting women isn’t okay. Women die everyday at the hands of men and it’s tragic.

    I relate to joes story, used to be religious til the religious folks around me couldn’t answer the questions I had to my satisfaction. Im a man of science now. I think about it like a really big puzzle with a handful of missing pieces here and there. Like we’ll probably never have the full picture… however given enough time we can still make something beautiful if we put enough of the right pieces together. We made something pretty so far but nonetheless there’s still more to be rearranged.

    • @Bhaxs
      @Bhaxs Před 2 lety +2

      What questions did you have that weren't answered? You can be a man of science and still believe. You act as if you have to pick one or the other no? The early scientists were christians and jews , do you not know this?

    • @JonathanAlexanderM
      @JonathanAlexanderM Před 2 lety +1

      @@Bhaxs I’m well aware of that however I am picking one and sticking to one. The way how I understand the universe religion was used to give answers to questions people asked. How was I made? How was earth made? How should we live our lives?” “What’s good? What’s bad? What’s right? What’s wrong? Why does it rain? How does rain happen? Etc etc etc back then god answered all that. Now we know that was never the case at all we know why/how things happen. Earth is not 6,000 years old it’s 4.5 billion years old, it doesn’t rain because this god or that god is blessing us it rains because of the water cycle. We were not made by some divine being were a species of great ape that has history going back millions of years etc. I hold no ill will towards those that believe differently. But me myself I choose one because one has to many inconsistencies for my liking and the other has evidence quite literally in all places. Written in our dna and in the ground itself.

    • @Bhaxs
      @Bhaxs Před 2 lety

      @@JonathanAlexanderM You are right brother, religion is made by men. But the connection between God and yourself is a relationship, it has nothing to do with science . Science is always changing.
      You are picking one and sticking to one? Why? The questions you ask , will science answer them? Science does not teach morality.
      As for your ''scientific' objections.
      1) You tell me earth is 4.5 billion years old, not 6000 years old. This is all based on speculation and assumptions. Radiometric Carbon dating is fallible because it relies on assumptions. You for example don't know the starting amount of C-14. It also assumes that the ratio of 14C to 12C has always been the same in the atmosphere as it is today.
      If the assumptions are accepted as true then the results of these tests can be biased towards a desired age.
      So you telling me the earth is 4.5 billion or 3 million or 6000. How can you know for sure?
      2) Ape ancestry theory . The only historical evidence that can support this are fossils. Unfortunately the fossil record of man and ape is very sparse. Approx 95% of known fossils are marine invertebrates. 4.7 percent are algea and plants 0.2 percent are insects and other invertebrates. The remaining 0.1 percent are vertebrates (humans , apes , monkeys , lemurs). Very limited amount of fossils that we can use to research . There are 3 ways to make an '''apeman'' 1) Combine ape fossils and human fossils and act like they are of the same ''apeman'' . 2) Emphasize certain humanlike qualities of fossilized ape bones, and with imagination upgrade apes to be more humanlike . 3) Emphasize certain apelike qualities of fossilized human bones, and with imagination downgrade humans to become more apelike. In the end you are just assuming on appearance.
      You talk about DNA. Do you know how much information is stored inside of you? Our brains are better then the most advanced supercomputer. The eye itself is a magnificent camera it can detect over 10 million color hues.
      Do you think we are here randomly? That we evolved from apes? There was a big bang but not a big banger?

    • @this_is_arge
      @this_is_arge Před 2 lety

      @@JonathanAlexanderM I get from the way you answer as if you were substituting religion with another religion which is scientism, treating science as something that must take the place of religion, that can never be the case. Regarding questions normally science answers the how, there can be some exceptions but as a general rule is like that, and philosophy and ultimately religion focuses on the why, the purpose. Science can never answer a purpose question because it's not what's made for. A pure materialistic point of view can never give answers regarding final causes, because it denies them, also regarding good and evil it's denied by this position.
