- Janis and I tested the Bose ProFlight Series 2 headsets in the Cessna 182 to get our initial/preliminary thoughts to see how well or if they would work in a piston powered aircraft

Nice review and hair! I'll stick with my Bose X. My P4TC hat fits perfectly beneath without losing any seal even with my specs :-) The man I bought it from, made me first promise to take good care. He retired from the airline and gave his lemo plug too. Before I forget, happy birthday to you, Ron! Hope your day was full of blessings and cookies!!
Thanks and yes it was a good day!!!
Watching F1 Qualifying now!!
@@Parr4theCourse Fantastic!!! I didn't watch F1, but my hubby told me Max has pole position. He never misses the F1, just like you!! :-)
Now we have a pair of both! I do like the lighter weight and lighter clamping of the pro flights.
@@janisparr8592 Probably not nesseccary to mention to you guys, however... Make sure that you always have extra batteries with you! I don't know how the A20's are in passive noise reduction, but my X are quite bad with that. Those Pro series look like they don't protect at all when noise reduction stops working. I ran out of batteries whilst flying laps in the pattern. Couldn't hear tower nor my instructor anymore and the ambient noise was terrible. Good thing was I had spare in my backpack. I had my instructor take over the plane, so I could get my bag from the backseat and changed batteries. Huge relieve!!
@@dutchygirlwe do always carry spare batteries and try to be pro active when it comes to changing them out.
You just reminded me that my annual is due this month. I paused your video and texted my AME. Thanks!
Glad I could help🤪😜
Don’t want to forget to get that on the schedule!
Too many seals being broken! 😁 Cool that you are growing out your hair for a great cause. 💪
Yep…..
Thanks, Janis likes my hair longer so it was an easy choice to let it grow a “little” more for a good cause!
Even the good headsets can get a bit uncomfortable on a long flight.
You guys are getting fancy with your equipments. Real pros. I always love the quality of your videos. Before you know it you’ll have to buy boating recording equipments. I was waiting for the tie in of those travel peeing bags when you kept saying “Breaking The Seal” 😂. Of course Ron kept in Janis and her human error.I would like to see Buzz Cut Ron.
One day…..
Boating equipment will have to be the same as aviation equipment 🤪😜
Glad at least one of our videos was memorable!!!
We have so much going on this summer - so no time for haircuts! 😂
another Fantastic video Ron and janis... I look forward to your full review on your headsets!
Thanks, so far we like them, we want to take some longer flights before we make a final decision on them!
Glad y’all are enjoying your new headsets. Been flying my Bonanza wearing Bose Proflight 2 for about two years. I went ahead and had custom ear pieces made. Improves the sound quality and the ear pieces don’t work their way out of your ears. IMO the proflight 2 is much more comfortable when on 3-4 hr trips .
Great to hear, we already noticed the sound quality is better, comfort is way better…..
That is so good to hear. We always liked the Quiet Technologies’ Halos and we wore them on long flights.
I've never personally tried those headsets myself but I absolutely agree that there's a few other options that are just as good or if not better than the A20. The old Champs and Cubs are some pretty noisy aircraft trust me😆 I think that's such a wonderful thing you're doing with your hair Ron. Thanks for the honest review and I'll see you guys in the next video.
Thanks Kevin, and you’re right, lots of options!!!
You could sport a buzz cut! Curious as to how they’ll do when worn for a long time. I’ll use earbuds while on the treadmill but wearing them for longer periods of time start to hurt my ears. Bose A20s hurt after long days but usually nothing noted on shorter flying days. Look forward to future report, include how earring cookies is with them!
We’ve had experience with the Quite Technologies Halos for long flights and the “In-Ear” design doesn’t bother us at all, the A20’s on long flights we noticed started to clamp our head too much, so far we’ve had 3 hours in the air with them and remember why we liked the Halos so much….final analysis forth coming!!
Looking forward to wearing them on longer flights. I will say that ANYTHING can get uncomfortable on a long flight.
I am still hoping Bose will make a headset one day so I can wear my cowboy hat!!!
These are close….
I’m thinking “AirPod” style has to be in the works.
In the meantime you just need to modify a hat! 🤣😂
yes, i suspect that cookie crunching would be easier but perhaps loosen the seal in these ear buds… 🤷🏼♂️
😜🤪😜
😂😂😂
So Ron, do you need a drummer for your new 80's hair band? How about a pro cowbell dinger? LOL! I see @Martin Pauly flying with a similar headset and also wondered how that would work with a piston aircraft.
You a drummer?
I think Martin flies with the headsets we showed in the video, the Quite Technologies Halos…
Hello my good friend. Been watching your videos but this one really caught my attention! I gave Bose an opportunity to convince me that it is worth spending 1k for a headset a few years ago by sending me a unit that I could review but their marketing refused. Needless to say, I also refuse to spend 1k or do any business with them. I've had my cheap ones since 1998 and they have endured the test of time. Being that I was also a sound engineer and also owned a recording studio in Florida I can tell the difference between analog and digital sound. Personally speaking, nothing compares to the more natural feel of analog sound frequencies. But that is just my personal story. Others may find it worth a thousand hard earned dollars 😀
Yea, headsets are a very personal decision, some blindly have brand loyalty, others want noise canceling, some do not, some like in-ear and others prefer over the ear. We really liked the Quite Technology Halos we first started flying with, they were inexpensive, but the wires frayed after a couple years. Sporty's has a 30 day trial period for headsets, so we thought we would give them a try!
👍✅ Glad you got the plane back, thanks for the flight. Ageing hippie hair look Ron? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What do you mean “aging”?
But I was a “Hippie” back in the day 😜🤪
He’s just celebrating the fact that he still has hair!! 😂
Thanks for the review. The headset looks great. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on sound levels after you have a few more hours. Also is there room to put an attachment for O2. My wife and I have the A20s and our Mountain High O2 boom cannula attachment is on the ear piece.
That so far is the only disadvantage I see, you can’t use a “boom cannula”, you would have to use the over the ear tube type conserving cannula.
I will update when we’ve had a few more hours on them….
I have those your head does not get sweaty and tired
How long have you had them and I assume you’re pleased with them?
I’m hoping we can tell the difference on long FB lights.
I used for 6 hr flight trip much better for me to use I clip the wire to dash so I can adjust volume quickly
Yea, the volume control fits nicely in the door handle ….
Love that you are growing your hair out to give away! You can take or leave this advice, but we recommend giving your hair to Children with hair loss and you only need 8 inches. Locks of love has been known to not be a true charity and often makes money from your hair.
Glad you found a way to use the headphones with long hair!
Yea, I’ve heard that as well, Wigs For Kids may be an option as well, I really just mentioned the other as they are well known and after I committed, I started looking into the differences between each organization….
@@Parr4theCourse I’m glad you found a good option!
