  • Just purchased these new General G-MAX AS 05
    tires for the Accord size 245/40/19. This is my review on them after about 500 miles of driving. There is a huge improvement in ride quality. Handling and wet are awesome! All around this is a great choice of tire for someone looking to change from their OEM equipt tires.

    Took your advice bro. Didn’t get the Generals because they were out of stock but I did get Falken Ziexs in the same size. Such a better ride than the stock tires.

    Had these on my Mk4 GTI...as far as snow goes, you will have traction, but let the traction control do its job and don't overdrive the conditions. These tires aren't miracle workers. They are for occasional snow, the fresher, the better. They do not act like an All weather tire and are far from a winter tire. I'm thinking of going back to general and dumping my conti (same company) dws06 for the gmax AS-05 and get a quieter tire w/similar performance for less money (235/45/17)

    Good information. About to get the same tire size in a different brand Kumho. The oems drove like trash imo even though they gave me close to what they are rated for, 45k miles. I feel like this size should've been stock. They look better.
    Edit: Ended up with the Eagle Touring tires oem for a steal. $425 installed on Prime day, $200 Prime gift card +6% cashback.

    I don't really hear any difference in road noise. I just bought a new 2022 accord hybrid with 235/40/19 96V Michelin primacy mxm4 . They are SUPER QUIET but also expensive.

  • @TheMB2333
    @TheMB2333 Před rokem +1

    I've got the 18' and I'm in desperate need of tires. I'm surprised you haven't seen more downside from those...both in noise and overall performance. The warranty is for 80K miles and that tends to lead me to believe the compound is much harder than the 55K OEM touring tires (in my case OEM was Michelin Primacy AS Touring). I've been leaning toward the Michelin Pilot All-Season but am concerned about mileage.

      The width and the height. First number is the width the second is the aspect ratio. If you increase the with from 235-245 even if the second number remains thr same it will be taller than the original 235

    Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm curious if they are running quieter because of the tread pattern or because the tire height is about 1/4" higher than the OEM tires. Hondas are always louder than most (which is the only thing I dislike about them). I'm also curious if you've had any problems due to the higher tire height (clearance, speedo/odo, shifting problems, etc). Thanks again for the awesome video!

    I have a quick question for you, Ive been having a lot of problems with the rough roads here in California and if I hit a pot hole instaint tear in the tire. I have gone through about 2 to 3 tires so far cause of this and a rim. I have a 2018 accord 2.0T and the low profile tires are a pain. So my question..is this a thicker tire that helps with that? Can these tires take a little more abuse? I try to avoid any kind of cracks and holes like the plauge now so I would like a tire that can take an impact incase if I hit something 😅

    • @DanVilla7
      @DanVilla7  Před rokem

      Just FYI, I just bought these but the newer model the AS-07 245/40R19. It appears to be the same tire just newer model, so I’d go that route because there is a possibility the AS-05’s might be discounted for the AS-07. I just came back from them being installed but I can confirm what Dan said they are quieter and better in the rain.

    My only concern is that the tire doesn't have enough siping "slits" for lack of a better word (very important for snow traction). I have a still night pearl 2.0 in NY... I'm actually eye balling some pirelli cinturato p7 all season plus II's.... Not a 100% sold, but as a long time repair shop owner, they may be the best bang for the buck... At least in the north east.

    • @DanVilla7
      @DanVilla7  Před 3 lety +1

      I agree with the more sipes the better for snow. I wanted an ultra high performance all season for traction reasons. They supposedly have good snow reviews on tire racks tests ( I'll find out this comming winter how accurate those were lol) The Pirelli you mentioned is a grand touring all season, it's pretty hard to have it all in a tire.
