Elton’s a different breed in this version
Coke helped a lot
@@Bruh1986.dude I know your a true fan, but I get so tired of every one referring to ejs well documented coke habit, it’s quite possible he was under the influence that day, I don’t know, but one can see many reasons for his stage presence, which I don’t think was that unusual for a great entertainer. He’s playing to a worldwide audience, one of the biggest acts on the bill, a historic day for rock, why wouldn’t he be giddy, or whatever the poster meant by being a different breed…the band rocked, he played one of the longest sets, and this don’t go breaking rocked, I think as good as 1976, especially Kiki, who punished that stage with her presence. I know your cool , I know we’d be pals if we met, but respectfully, uuuugh I can’t stand people saying every time ej seems weird, it’s coke..truth is, I’ve seen him act quite weird when he wasn’t on coke…he can be weird , and I don’t think he was that weird that day. I’ve seen him way weirder, his 50 th bday was weird. He wasn’t on drugs that day.
I'm sorry but can we take a second to appreciate the horn section... The notes they hit are phenomenal! Kiki and Elton completely nail performance, hats off
Maybe, I don't think the horn section sounded phenomenal but the engineering was so terrible (minimal sound checks for the whole production) that it's hard to tell.
I've heard and read stories that the reason Queen sounded so amazing was part due to their greatness and part due to their sound engineer. And that's, perhaps, why the Thompson Twins sounded so awful.
Regardless, Kiki sounded great, even while dancing, and Elton brought great energy and piano playing (vocals were not perfect, IMO...I'm not his biggest fan).
@@tylerseboeI watched it on tv back then .. We never noticed the bad sound . The TV were mono, some stereo, we recorded on V2000 or VHS tape with a lot of loss.. we didn’t know better . But I can still feel the energy and power of bands like Queen and Elton John ,maybe vocally not on his best , he gives himself 200% . Just like the others and that makes this concert so memorable . Time flies .
Yes, respect to the truly amazing band👌
I wish more artists today performed without digital background track. Live sounds always amazing :)
So true, but it requires talent and passion.
not enough talent nowdays
@@B121092 you got that right
Indeed
Blue G that’s why there’s so many “musicians” today. It’s easy to make something sound good but hardly anyone today can actually “sing”
Kiki Dee = the most Underrated woman in music.
Star was such a great song too

no
So true
Just lovely. I really miss those days. We should revive this and get together again around the world. Instead of what we’re heading for now…
If the Queen wouldn't have performed in this show.....the Elton John's performance would have been the greatest 💥💥💥💥💥
KiKi opened up for Elton at Olympia Stadium in Detroit, MI in 1973....my boyfriend took me to see Elton . One of our first dates.. and it's been Elton ever since...46 years an counting...the ticket was only $8.50....oh and that boyfriend? He's my husband now..for 43 years....
Awesome story , god bless you both .
Thanks Jim K.
Any big plans for the anniversary you don’t have reply but it would be nice
so beautiful Love
Dude definitely didnt go breaking your heart!
Elton John's performance is up there with Freddie's on this day. Smashed the fuck out of it!
I agree.
Phil played both venues. Started in London and flew to Philly to play there.
should of included it in Rocketman , but that would be copying . Either way I think people would view the hell outta Elton's live aid if it was included in the movie
Elton was always a showman but for the record he’s the one who ran back stage and proclaimed Queen had stolen the show.
Couldn't have put it better myself 👏👏👏
Her voice was amazing!!
Si, en otros conciertos es aburrido
Still is !
Kiki was always a brilliant live performer before this performance..she was so underated as an artist..such a shame she never got the recognition she deserved.
Damn I didn’t know ziggy stardust preformed with Elton john and took Kiki’s place 🤔
Ahhahah
Ziggy & Rocketman are good friends
Not a bad plan , now we need to have all 3 perform under pressure and we'd have something
Fucking amazing....why is there no music like this anymore......breaks my heart!
Dude... don't go breaking your heart. ;)
There is still music like this around
Its just underground
Kiki Dee rocks
Kiki dee be out here looking like David bowie
Nah - that's just the 80s
Sure as hell looks better there than that boy look she had in the original video!
Ziggy Stardust*
I thought she looked like Sheena Easton at first. She looked great even with that 80s hairstyle.
@@TheDavidbooth hell no she was bautiful in the original video ... definitley better than here
I imagine the privilege of being in that concert. Incredible performance by Elton John and Kiki., And all the band's excellent and talented musicians.
This is definitely one of the highlights of Live Aid. The energy. Musicianship. They are having a blast!
Elton sure looks like he had his "coffee" fix before the show, it's quite an energetic performance.
no this comment made me so sad
Pretty sure he looks energetic because he missing his glasses
I hear he used to have about 100 sugars in his coffee
Maybe his husband put a little too much caffeine in his cup. Lol
I'd have a 'coffee fix' too for such a performance.. to be fair though Elton always used to perform like that 110%
Saw Kiki at The Plough Torrington last year She still has it!!
Elton in his cocaine heyday. This is a great live performance . Love it ✌️
I like how everyone said, oh no that's sad to another comment about elton and cocaine but nobody says anything here
The 80's were everyones cociane heyday...
Watched this entire show live when I was 17..still watching the same performances at 56! Kiki ❤ The good energy is just so palatable..everyone getting their groove on..for free..for the best human reason…and like 90% of the entire planet joined in the minutes…hope those starving kids learned how to feed themselves too! Thanks friends!
Kiki is still looking fabulous and singing great. I think she has gotten more beautiful as she has gotten older.
Everyone is comparing Kiki to DB but she reminds me of Frida (ABBA) in the 80s. Check out "Something's Going On" by Frida (trivia alert: produced by Phil Collins ;)
Difference is, Frida was drop dead gorgeous.
@@gahloot and your saying Kiki isn't? you nee to have your eyes checked man because Kiki is beautiful as a performer and as a woman.
@@swampwitch6133 LMAO David Bowie looked better.
@@gahloot Dude you must be blind in one eye and the other one glass, I bet you get all hot watching Justin Beiber's Ass.
@@swampwitch6133 It's sad Kiki didn't want to pursue or just got bloked from having a better career and role in the music industry...she had almost everything...
Elton John has really become a skilled tenor in the early 80s + falsetto.
I love how in the music video of this song, Kiki was all shy and here she's dancing and jumping, having the time of her life 💖💖💖
Amo as músicas do Elton John ❤👏💜💘❤️
I just love ki ki full of energy and georgous
❤
Every song in this concert was sped up.....like him haha love it 👀👀👀👀🤫🤩
was cocaine up! hahahaha
Kiki's voice was still rockin then!
Davey Johnson (guitarist) just celebrated his 3000th show with Elton John (Oct 1 2019-Saskatoon Canada)!!
Kiki Dee always had a great voice.
I remember live aid. Watched on a tube tv with a single speaker. Imagine seeing this today with the tv technology and surround sound.
Kiki dee looks fab!
This is how it is done.
Awesome performance. Huge difference in this and some of today's music.
What a Superstar!!!
Seems like the best crowd to play in front of.
They were so engaged
Kiki Dee rocks like a goddess, one of the most talented in our generation, always forever loved by her fans x
She came out of the bullpen.
Right out of the back up singers to a a huge standing ovation
I actually didn’t realize that at all!! Good catch!
Kiki Dee stole the show
No queen
This seemed like yesterday. We had the TV on with visitors and we kept glancing to see who was on next. Damn, does time fly. Look how young Elton looks! I've loved this song from a kid when it first came out till this day. It still have a freshness about it. A great song from a time when much change was right on the horizon.
you sure she's kiki dee?
it's david bowie
No....its your mother..old and spooky
@@rupertigu3302 Wow, you got me dude, keep learning those jokes from your local kids book
He ius David Bowire for shyures!!!
:v
It hur hair style
One of my childhood songs. I remember little me in front of the mirror dancing to it.
Lovely song even now when I'm much older😊😊😊😊
Me either! My mom used to listen to this every day in the 80s!
Ray Cooper always brings so much energy to these performances
Elton smashing that piano is a joy to watch
Kiki Dee young forever!!! You're so beatifull...
Love this and song
This song will always take me back, to 1976, and Elena, the one that got away...
Kiki Dee has such a beautiful tone!
Wow! This is better than the studio version!
Ya sé que no nací pa'eso, pero me gusta soñar con que una mujer como ella me quiera un día.
I love KiKi Dee
Kiki Dee sounding amazing!
i'm in love with kiki dee
Me too. She's so hot!!
Don't go breaking her heart!
She's so cute
Purify I'm in love with Elton John 47 years I've been listening to him and loving him he's my sweetie I'm still standing
I know me too, have you watched any of her interviews? No only is she beautiful as a performer but a a person as well, she is so positive. It's too bad today's performers most of them all we hear is negative crap come from them.
As a big fan during his classic era - this song/non album cut 45 single seemed like a formula commercial duet sell- out in 1976.
Huge song that summer - number 1 for weeks on both sides of the pond. This live version is vastly superior to 45 rpm version that was played on AM radio. Really enjoyed this version. I was 23 at the time of Live Aid in Ottawa Canadá - a friend had his parents house and swimming pool for the weekend. Big party. We wheeled the colour TV onto the patio ...with live aid piped through his stereo speakers at max volume. It was 95 degree hot - and everyone was gathered around the tv set watching our music idols and enjoying cold beer.....great time to be young. Elton, paul McCartney, Queen, Bowie, Clapton, U2, dire straits, and newer acts like simple minds, electrovox....then the show started in Philly..
necesitamos un live aid como este en nuestra actualidad
It's great to see them perform the song live
Kiki Dee is amazing!
Kiki Dee se parece a Anni -Frid "Frida" del grupo Abba.
Tremendos Elton y Kiki!
Love this old shit❣️❣️❣️❣️🫶🥰
I just love the guy playing the bongos! He fucking went for it!
I ADORE THIS AMAZING SONG!!!!!!!
Kiki Dee is a beautiful lady and Elton picked a great lady for this song 😊
Originally Elton wanted to record this song with Dusty Springfield who backed out due to illness. Glad it was Kiki who got to sing the duet.. It worked out better in my opinion.
Outstanding performance absolute gem of a song ❤
Ray Cooper is always so much fun to watch. Really important to EJ’s career....
Jeez, the talent on that stage. They nailed the shit out of it. sounded awesome. Elton was a beast, and she sounded divine.
Elton really brought it. I enjoy this iconic track.
Elton saw how good his pal Fred did and had to really up his coffee fix to match that energy...
2:17 what a voice!!
What a fabulous and energetic performance by all! And you can tell from the original 1976 promo video, and this live performance, that Elton and Kiki have such good chemistry! The intangibles like that really matter in taking a song to the next level, as good as the physical aspects of singing, playing, etc. are. I love this! This song takes me back to my childhood, 5 years old, Summer of '76, living in North St. Louis, on Warren and 14th St. :)
HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY

Banging live rendition, great pace and great to see a horn section too!

Amo Elton John ❤
Elton is sexy in the 80s...and such a powerful magnificent artiste
Absolutely smashed it, but was it in any doubt?
Espectacular Elton como siempre 😻🥳😬🥳😬🥳
LOVE this version. Full of energy etc.. Got to love EJ - national treasure!!!
Love this song and the way it's played!

Completely nailed this performance of one of my favourite ever songs! Which was number one just weeks before I was born too!
Incredible performance!! 💖💖😘😍😘😍😍🎉🎶🔊
Best performance of Elton John and Kiki Dee.
Kiki DEE smoking hot as usual
What a frantic pace.
The brass in place of orchestrals really does something for me
it looks great and it sounds even better
God save Sir Elton John!
Epic bongo performance.
Great music!
Do you think Freddie Mercury was watching this from the sides?
Tea TV I hope so, that would’ve been cool
Prob

Ofcourse Sharon Is A Best Friend
He probably would have been saying, “poor darling, the coke’s changed him.”
Essa música só poderia ficar assim perfeita com esses dois!Uhrrruuuu😂😂
great song
Total excitement! Awesome!! THIS IS LIVE FOLKS. wow.
Song sounds great w energy like this. Now it was prob blow in the 80s but it kicks ass.

With David Paton ex Pilot on bass and Mick Clarke ex Rubettes backing vocals
The great David Paton on bass guitar 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love this song and I love old school R&B
No other words, just fucking brilliant.
