Oh shit I just made the connection that
1. In the first section and the flashback section they both have a recurring meeting at 8:00 that both erodes and builds their relationship
And
2. The connection between "I thought sending word beforehand might make it worse" and how she already told him most people prefer not to know when the cleansing charm is going to happen. He prefers to know when its coming and she always respected that. Later when he's trying to be overtly kind to her, one of the best things he thinks he can do is not warn her beforehand. Which I realized when listening she does flat out tell us that knowing before hand is the worst thing for her, she makes herself sick with anxiety. (Which makes me think about WAITING somewhere for 16 months without knowing if the wait will ever end... ugh my heart : (

Great catch! Did you also spot this hidden gem I discovered: so when Hermione is first taken to Voldemort by Draco right at the start of the story, they have a conversation just before apparating back to the manor. Draco gives Hermione a potion to stop her blacking out. Hermione asks him if it's happened to him before, and he tells her his training was rigorous. I always thought he was acting a bit shifty here as the conversation progressed, his eyes were narrowed at her, it was like he was trying to suss her out. Then his eyes widened "incrementally" at one point and he snaps his mask back into place.
Anyway, when I got to the start of the flashbacks, I was shocked, because when Draco first meets Hermione in the shack, they literally have the *exact* conversation after Draco offers her a pain relief potion after teaching her occlumency! Draco must've remembered in Voldemort's lair and wasn't sure how to take it, would love to read a POV of him at that precise moment.
Sorry if you already picked up on this, I just thought it was such a cool little detail! SenLinYu is a literally genius!
