    The g85 size sells it for me when out hiking and I get so much more back with shooting more pics. Picture quality is just amazing.

      Thanks Adrian! Lumix cameras do make for some really great video cameras. I am very happy with both the G85 and the G9. They do a fantastic job!

      Glad you enjoyed it! I watch videos about cameras I don't have and never have used all the time. Haha! I really just like learning about different cameras. Thanks for watching!

    Great work and comparison Dan. I really like the Lumix color science, I just started using a lumix FZ 300 for vlogging. Thanks so much for sharing my friend- Safe travels Dan

      Yea, the Lumix cameras make for really great video cameras. I love the G85 for that. Thanks for watching!

    Great comparison of the two, I love the video that comes out of those. I need a second cam for the vlog, the G85 might fit for what I am looking for. I may want to stay all Sony though and get a A6xxx or even an RX100 to keep it tiny. Choices choices....lol.

      Thanks Paul! The G85 has really fantastic video. I'm really enjoying using the G85 for video and the G9 for stills and extra B-roll. It's always hard choosing a new camera!

    Dan, thanks again for the great comparison. If you could do a video on how you carry your gear and the actual set up for shots now that you have 2 cameras ( one video the other). I don't think I've seen a video showing have to best set up for shots, how to carry camera so it's quickly ready for use, tri-pod set-up and placement for hiking video shots, etc. You would be one of the first to do this. We often see the results of video or shots, but no the actual details it took to great the great video or shot. Thanks if you could do something along these lines. Also talking about camera protection with weather changes and how it's carried in a pack and covered to protect from excessive moisture, heat, cold, etc. Thanks if possible. My g85 arrives this week, can't wait. Thanks again for recommending this camera and great details in your reviews.

      Hey Greg, thanks for the suggestions. I'd be interested in doing some videos talking about some of the things you've mentioned here in the future. Carrying two cameras while hiking can actually be a bit of a challenge for sure! I'll try and go into more detail on some of this in a future video. I hope you enjoy your new G85! I've gotten a lot of great use out of mine so far.

      @@DanKleinow That would be really cool. I think you totally understood what I was getting after where you could video how you set-up shots, do video, carry the camera and tripod ( i'm like you prefer not), how you protect the camera but have quick access, etc. I love you work, keep it up.

    Hey Dan! Thank you SO much for this review!! You covered things on here like the dial that I have not seen in other places. So my worry is this. I have done alot of side by side comparisons of photos from both cameras. It seems like the color profile on the G85 is just...better. It looks more warmer and more rich if that makes any sense? Did you find this to be the case and any input on the differences?

    • @DanKleinow
      @DanKleinow  Před 3 lety

      Hey, thanks so much for the comment! It turns out that the G85 looks warmer in this video because I had the white balance on different settings on the two cameras. My bad. I should have noticed this while filming this video. That's why the G85 looks warmer in this. Thanks for pointing that out!

    Thanks for making this video! I'm shooting with a G7 now and I love it, but am looking to upgrade for that sweet IBIS.
    Do you mind the G9 being a bit bulkier when you're out hiking? It seems like the G9 is more stacked when it comes to stills, but do you think the video features make it worth the upgrade?

    • @DanKleinow
      @DanKleinow  Před 3 lety +1

      The IBIS on the Lumix cameras is amazing. I don't mind the G9 being a bit bulkier. It was absolutely worth the upgrade for me. Especially since I was looking to buy a second camera mostly used for stills.

    Good video, I love Lumix cameras, they really represent great value for money. I have the G85 and I love it. Just one correction, the G9's viewfinder resolution is 3,680,000, and not 3,680 dots. Cheers man, keep up the good job!

      Haha, thanks for pointing out that mistake! Yup, the G85 is a fantastic camera. I've been using it for two years. Glad you liked the video!

    Dan, another ? on how you carry and set-up . This will sound way to newbie, but do you carry your camera with lens cap on or just let the nd filter be the lens protection? I'm still working out the kinks with carrying where camera is quickly accessible but still protecting it as much as possible. I've even thought about making or finding a nylon bag or sleeve that I could loosely fit over the lens for quick protection between shots. Plan to buy peak design clip, but also wonder about quick attach to tripod or do like you and try to shoot mostly hand held to stay on the move. Thanks for all the help for a new landscape enthusiast.

    • @DanKleinow
      @DanKleinow  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Greg. If I'm using an ND filter at the time than I'll just leave it on. If not, than I normally will put the lens cap on while not shooting. I want to purchase a peak designs clip at some point for my G9. When carrying the camera. I always keep a wrist strap on my wrist just in case I were to drop the camera. It does happen sometimes. As I prefer to shoot handheld. I only take my tripod out when I feel that I absolutely need it. Like filming clips for these videos or if I'm doing long exposures. Honestly, I feel like the tripod slows me down most of the time. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!

    hi, which fast lenses are available for the G9 camera? thank you.

    • @DanKleinow
      @DanKleinow  Před 3 lety

      Panasonic and Olympus make numerous lenses for the micro 4/3s system. There are numerous lenses they make that are f/2.8 and lower. Depending on what you are looking for, there are many options you can choose from.
