Outstanding review, very clear and easy to follow, best I've seen by a long way.
Now that is what I call a proper review! Keep up the great work guys! đđ»
Most thorough breakdown of functions, especially the sounds.
Is it? Does it have 120hz supported?
Great review and very thorough. You have a fan in the US!
Great Complete Review that gives me information on that I can understand and Use to make a buying decision - Thank You. I will be watching more of Your Reviews.
Very nicely done and straight to the pointđ
Keep it up for free offcourse.

Just going to pick up the 55A80J...excited...and good review!
Best review I've seen. Cheers.
Just ordered my 77â A80J over Black Friday and feel like a kid Iâm so excited. Awesome review, thank you
So do you like the TV?
@@raelkaz7828 I absolutely love it!! HDR content like Dune and streaming movies are amazing. I don't regret it at all and highly recommend it. The blacks are amazing, but I'm coming from an LCD tv where shadows and edges were glowing. Some were saying the brightness wasn't as bright as the A90J but I have to dial it back because it's too bright.
@@Bill-ck3lo thanks for sharing your experience I m really thinking to get a80j 77 inch tv this Summer I hope it will be great choice for me
Very good review. Good work
Tried many before finding this gem just a great panel!
Got my Z9J this week based mostly on Calebâs review. The most beautiful TV PQ I have ever seen on any TV. Very organic and natural looking.
Tell me more about the TV. Are the details better than an Oled??
@@kevinahmadi4167 I regret not getting a LED possibly a Z9J instead A80J 77 because of brightness
Playing with the settings is a large part of teh fun with modern tv's. I remember the days when the only things you could change were the horizontal and vertical hold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely the best tv review channel. Clear, accurate and easy to digest information unlike most other channels. Great job
Thanks Chris, the feedback is appreciated đ
Kind of wishy washy for me, just too generalised and blasĂ© đ
Great video review, Jonathan!...While waiting for my 77" A80J TV to be delivered next week, what are your thoughts with BURN-IN?
I just bought this tv, but am waiting until Christmas to open the box. If it is half as good as this review and others claim, I am sure to enjoy it. My current tv is 14 years old.
Just bought one this week, at more than half the price it was when it came out (55", 1099âŹ). I say it's a pretty good deal! Image is truly superlative, Star Wars looks gorgeous on this TV, and I don't think the premium for the same size for the 2022 model is worth it. Sound is excellent for a TV, coming from an old 2011 Bravia with CCFL backlighting, the difference is stunning! I'll probably get a soundbar down the road. This is bargain, especially in 2023!
Just bought it for 888⏠(55").
Thanks for the review. Itâs helped me make the decision to get one. I still have a 40â Sony Bravia thatâs 20 years old and still works perfectly! But it is time for an upgrade đ
Bought to replace our KD55XF9005 which we though was an excellent full array backlit. Best LED picture weâve seen until the backlit array failed after just 4 years! Risking an OLED hoping it lasts longerâŠ.this is the best review yet on the A80Jđ
Very informative video, thank you! It helped me with my decision. I just bought 65-A80J and I am looking forward to test it at home, this will be my first OLED TV đ
Let us know what you think
@@ralphalberti6851 I still feel it's a bit too soon but I wanted to give you at least some initial feedback after two weeks with the TV. I am very pleased so far and haven't run into any unexpected issues. Of course picture quality is amazing, especially in dark environment. Also during daytime for me it is bright enough to watch TV without any problem and closing the blinds etc., I feel if you do not have direct sunlight coming at it - it should be just fine even on a bright day.
I am very pleasantly surprised by the sound system, and honestly I am now thinking if buying a soundbar makes sense, I suppose for a lot of people what this TV offers will suffice. I am not an audiophile but from my perspective bass is deep enough, produces clear music and also I can hear dialogues without any problem.
Google TV works well but is a bit less functional if you live outside of USA (like me). However this is not specific to this TV but Google TV platform in general. This TV just asks to be watched in complete darkness, very immersive experience :) In such conditions backlit remote would be very welcome and that is one disadvantage I see. Probably not everyone will notice or want it, but I am considering buying one.
I was cross-shopping this with Samsung QN90A and I am very confident I made the right choice :)
@@MirekZyzak Thank you. I am moving to Florida (The Sunshine State) and was a bit worried about OLED in the daytime. But there won't be any direct sunlight on the screen so I think it will work out fine.
@@ralphalberti6851 @Mirek Zyzak
It doesnât sound like you got that Wow factor đ€ anyone I ever spoke to that had there first OLED experience were blown away. With that said. Yeah you wonât get a wow out of this tv. I couldnât be more disappointed. Comparing my 65 C8 to my new 77 A80J there really isnât any comparison. I donât game just watch Netflix prime plex CZcams and cable my C8 looks spectacular and this Sony is a dud. The A80j looks fuzzy, too green too blue very bland. Itâs got bugs đ đ đ· once and a while I get a pop noise while navigating. As of yesterday powering up the Sony doesnât power up the marantz at the same time. Nothing changed and it worked 2 days ago. Navigating can get frustrating, sometimes your flying around then it just kinda stops like it canât keep up. And again back to navigating youâll be in tv settings making your changes well DONT hit the back button or your starting all over again. You gotta hit the arrow button. This tv leaves a lot to be desired and at $3000 they coulda done better đ„ș
@@MirekZyzak I got the same TV absolutely awesome. Out of the box, better than the C1
Bought the 77 inch. It is unbelievable. The picture accuracy is something you need to see in person
I bought the 55 inch and Iâm not impressed, Itâs too dim, vivid is the only mode I can stand watching, I made a mistake I should have gotten the qn90a

Jonathan, I canât say enough about the excellent reviews! You are the best! I truly hope the firmware update has or will occur with the A80J since Iâm just purchased in early 2023. Love your review because the are so straight forward, detailed, and easy to understand!!đđœđ. Iâm old school, so not sure whether Iâll use most of these features, but good to know. I plan on ordering the backlit remote for the A80J as I will likely use in my dark master bedroom in the evenings/night.
Thanks for the feedback itâs much appreciated. The current A80J firmware has fixed all elements.
@@smarthomesounds You are the best reviewer Iâve ever seen! Thanks for sharing the information regarding the firmware update. My A80J will be delivered and set up this week and looking forward to it! Thanks again for the helpful videos!
Did it fixed the gaming experience?
Really not sure if the firmware update fixed the gaming experience. But I think the update included VRR support, so if this has anything to do with gaming hopefully it did. Not much of a gamer myself.
dont laugh but im coming from a 32" tv that still has the RED, WHITE, and Yellow plugs. Im picking this TV on friday.
Mine is being delivered tomorrow đ
Realize this is reaching back into the past. If Iâm not already in the Sonos ecosystem, would the Sony HT-A5000 + sub be a better fit for an AJ80 than an Arc + sub? Not sure how much weight should be put into the TV as a center channel. Many thanks and appreciate all the great content!
Hi,
Thanks for the good review đ What is the difference between XR55A84JU and XR55A8OJU ?
I just bought the "Sony A80J" and I am impressed with the image quality! I worried about my bright living room and almost bought the Full Array X90J, however, now I am 100% sure I made the right decision! I tried your "Custom" configuration but went back to the "Vivid" configuration as the brightness works better in my living room. Great youtube content as always! Keep up the good work!
Hi Friend. Can assist to see any flickering on your sony A80J? TY.- Kelvin.
@@Phuamt hi there⊠I have not, the image is perfect and I did not purchase any extended warranty as I thought the cost was too high. Flickering could be for many reasons and you can google some tips on how to fix it, even the cable connection can cause that flickering and is a easy fix.
Hi Arthur. Thanls for sharing .

Seeing as they are similarly priced would you get the 55â G1 Or 65â A80J?
Was a toss up with this TV but i decided go with panasonic tx-55jz1500 huge difference in price
Just ordered a 77 inches from Costco. Hope it will turn out fine.
Can you help answer what seems like an easy question?
What 55-65â TVâs do upscaling best? We watch 95% terrestrial/ satellite basic broadcasts and basic online streaming on things like More4 or BBC etc⊠very very rarely push the TVâs 4K or 8K resolution with blue ray etc so what make and models do this best? Itâs almost impossible to find this out as ever review or TV demo in store is geared to push the TVâs high resolution capabilities
Does the glossy screen make for a better picture. Compared to this more matte screen ?
Loving my A80J. Iâm considering the Sonos Arc at some point, however, in this video I canât tell how much itâs covering the screen. Do you have the Arc on top of the stand feet or does it fit in between them?
The max stand width on the A80j is 40inches(65 inch version) while the sonos arc is 45inches wide and about 3.5 inches tall so you will have to use the raised position on ur stand and put the arc infront of the stand as opposed to between the stand. :)
Enjoying the review so far but the soundbar covering the bit of the tv at the bottom is kicking my ocd into high gear wish you would of set it up on the high stand setup lol. I'm getting the A90 or A80 in the next couple of days but still can't decide if getting the A90 at 65 or the A80 at 77 is rhe better option. I'm about 3 meters away from the tv stand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that both have the screen as a center channel but is that batter than using a standard sound system. Please help!!
What do you mean low latency mode, These tvs are still waiting on the update for that along with VRR.
Its insane how much price came down in one year. I just bought a brand new 65" a80K, the newer version, for $1700 all in out the door.
Love this TV. Recently upgraded from an LG B9 and even my wife, who has absolutely no interest in the technology involved, can see the difference.
Anyone with eyes would be able to see it, no need to know about technology.

Great video, but can you just clarify if the A80J has enough hdmi 2.1 to have a ps5 and a sonos arc Dolby Atmos? Donât want any messing around unplugging each time. Whatâs the difference again with the LG C1. Is it an extra 2 x hdmi 2, meaning 4 ports over the A80Js 2. Looking to buy in the next couple of days. Iâm just a full on Sony guy but seen so many good reviews for the LG C1, especially gaming, but for me the sound arc compatibility and having no issues with ps5 hdmi 2. Iâve heard the firmware will improve for gaming anyway on the A80 so can hold out for this.
Ordered it yesterday from John Lewis, they also do Accidental damage cover which includes burn in protection for 5yrs for ÂŁ140. Not bought the cover yet as I got 60 days after TV purchase to buy it.
How are you finding it? Mine comes tomorrow
I do hope that all of the Sony 2021 models have an ATSC 3.0 / NEXT Gen DTV tuner for over air reception of 4K video where available? If any model you review does not have it, please mention.
What is the depth of your TV table to accommodate the A80J legs with the Sonos Arc placed in front? It seems you would need at least 45cm of table depth
Itâs all good but sucks for not having 85 inch screen size thatâs the size I want but Iâm gonna keep to the x95j 85ââ
Hi Friend. Can share your experience with X95J? How is it better than X90J? Any flickering? Thanks. - Kel

Great review thanks. Will any of the OLED models this year from Sony be availble in 48" ?

Great video review! Can this TV play video files from an external usb drive? Also is it possible to turn off or reduce the motion as well? I prefer to watch movies with more motion blur over the higher frame rate/TV studio look that some TVs apply. Thanks!
Yes you can play content from external drive. I assume you were asking about disabling motion smoothing? There is a 4 step (including disabled) control to do that, you can also enable or disable black frame insertion. You can set it up as you want it.
The 55â A80J is on special here in New Zealand for NZ$2544 which is ÂŁ1288.75 ⊠seems to be a really good price! Iâm trying to decide if I should go 55â OLED or 65â Full Array LED because the 65â X90J is also on special for NZ$2298 which is only ÂŁ1164.13 then đ€ #FirstWorldProblems

Iâve had one , a 50â model and it has grown on me a lot. Sounds good(supplements mysurround sound) and looks great, and the remote works on my old Sony HD, and vice versa when I loose one, normally daily one gets misplaced.
I have this tv. Is there a way turning off the base for late night viewing? I can only adjust the equalizer but, even with that set to the lowest the bass is still very high.
Hello Thank you for your time, I actually want to buy this Tv in 2024 and I'm sure this is a good choice for my usage, I just have a question about it and I believe since your working with the company you are the right person to ask, some of the 65A80J TV's has 2 Satellite input and 1 antenna input on the back of the tv like you can see in the video 11:40, but some of this exact models has just one regular Antenna input, I wanna make sure that I'm buying the right one, I want all inputs, so please tell me the exact model of this tv that you showing in the video đ

Hi There, what the difference between a80j and a84j? Would be good know if its worth going for a84j? Thanks
How is this for fast action sports, football etc , does it have any stutter or lag issues with the fast moving action, thanks

At 4.42 you show on your tv these beautiful like marble effect when you are not using the tv. How can i do that? I have the a80j but cant find it.
Hello there.
I bought the model A83J 65", and a day after i noticed that the panel of the tv is bended on left and right sides, it is bended backwards.
My question is it suppose to be like that or it is an issue and i need to claim that this tv will be replaced for another one for me?
Thank you.
I ordered up the 77" A80J to replace a 2006 46" Sony KDL-46XBR2. I mainly watch sports on TV and bigger screen is going to be awesome!
How is the upscaling of normal low resolution TV content on such a large TV with such a high resolution screen⊠is it acceptable, good or great or even terrible??
Do you have any issues watching sports with the A80J? Concerned ABL would ruin the viewing experience. Iâm currently looking into the 55 inch
@@anthonys.1374 The sports are really good on this TV as Sony has done an exceptional job. I find myself watching sports I had not watched in years such as baseball and college football. Go with the LG CX1. you won't regret it!. And I'm a big Sony fan
Are they making a video comparing soundbars?
Which is better? This out the lg c1?
Would be nice if you had an in depth LG C1 vs A80J comparison. Others have pointed out that the Sony screen is more reflective and would show more glare than the LG, which is probably an important factor in a real world room situation. What is unclear is if that is across the line on all sizes or if the Sony is only reflective on the smaller sizes than the bigger ones.
Unless it's next to the other TV, you'll never know the difference.
3:18... so the real question is... what picture was the original intent/content?
Bright, perfect greens or a variety of green/yellows/browns?
