A quick clarification to new detailers: Rotary buffing on "painted boats" specifically Awlgrip painted boats is a no go. Buffing (and waxing) Awlgrip painted boats will destroy the finish. Awlcraft, Awlgrip HDT and Alexseal are fine to buff. Be sure to talk with the owner to finds out exactly what paint product finish is on the boat.

A couple of questions about applying products over previous applications (assuming the substrate is already in good shape and does not need further compounding) - the first is what about if your boat has already got a waxed finish? Do you need to get that wax stripped and how to do that? And second, say if I have the HyperHold on there, can you then put on a ceramic sealant, or would some stripping have to be done there first?

How effective would using a yellow pad and a cutting compound on a machine like the Rupps 21 be? I own this machine and use it on automotive applications mainly as a DIY (not a business owner). My boat is in decent shape with no oxidation just not a lustrous as it was new.

A rotory is NOT necessary for polishing. I have been doing boats for almost 25 years, I can get through boats faster with my Rupes 21 with a Lake County purple wool pad and Starke Restructure.

tHIS IS FINE AND GOOD, IF YOU'RE INTOPOLISHING BOATS. sO WHAT ABOUT CHEMICALS TO KILLOFF MOLDS, FUNGI, AND OTHER THINGS THAT DEPRECIATE A BOAT?

I compounded my 25' SeaCraft with Level R, Elevate then finished off with Hyper Hold. Now, I have water spot staining from pollen season. What can I use to remove it without stripping the polymer sealant? I looked into the Venom, but my concern is, does it strip the sealant?

I would never use a double pad nor a buffer that big. I see too many people burning through gel coat

What tools and supplies would you recommend for an owner with a brand new 25 ft bay boat?

Thank you for your previous response. I'm still a little cofused. What would you recommend doing to my new boat when I first get it home prior to putting it on my saltwater lift? Should I just wash it? Compound and wax it? Ceramic coat it? I expect to have it delivered in late March or early April. It will be a 25 ft center console bay boat with a steel blue hull and white bottom and white interior and non skid. I'll have a full boat cover, however, it will not cover the hull sides and bottom. I live in Tampa at the base of Howard Franklin Bridge. Thanks.

@@marinedetailsupplyco.-tamp3457 excellent! Thank you Michael. Please give me your contact info. Depending on my schedule when my boat arrives, I may just have you do the first cleaning and pick your brain for me to do future cleaning. I am a diy type, but have no interest in doing it for a living!!! Grateful for those of you who do!
