I am so impressed that Cleetus immediately defended Steve Morris and Pete and didn't leave out the details that would shade himself in a no fault light. I am a shop Forman and I can't get people to tell me the truth on a daily basis and Cleeter is sharing everything. Even the stuff that most leave out. Thankyou for this.

Garrett knew he was leaning hard on the Brodix block, Steve even told him he was. In the refresh had Garrett swapped the block out, might have survived another season.
He's pushing 3000+ hp through it, well above design limits. Needs something beefier to contain the power. SMX engine incoming.
Cleetus has ALWAYS been really good about accepting the blame when he needs to. I recall when Mullet was LS powered and everyone wanted to trash the engine builder then too. Just like now, it wasn't the builders fault.

@@-LK34- Pro fab designed it to be a jet car, but then they also turned it back into a normal drag car.
Kevin did extend some 4 link brackets and add a couple bars that were missing to get a higher chassis cert, but at this point the car is a conglomerate of shop work. Pro Fab had it, then Kevin had it, and now Tye's taking care of it.
That catch pan is a huge help!!!

I think everybody wants it to happen. The problem is that there's a wait list for the SMX as far as I know. So the rest of this season is quite the unknown, especially because I doubt he will run some kind of LS or lesser big block that will more than likely blow as well. There's a big 150k bill waiting around the corner now.

When you look at everything, Garrett blowing the refreshed engine is a very smart business decision.
Not only did he give Steve more view's from his fan base, Steve's channel has blown up btw, he's going to get a newly built SMX engine at discount.
I am happy to have run into Steve's channel, he's awesome. So knowledgeable and honest about things, teaches others, gives other's vaulable info.
But this is content, for sure.
A fully built SMX block was going to happen no matter what. Sooner than later. Garrett wants to push 50 lbs of boost and see 6's. Not going to happen with this Brodix block.

Yes steave. Is an amazing guy and has a great channel. That's to cleet I checked out his channel and love Steve's channel.
10lbs of boost over max design spec sounds impressive, but when you realize that the motor was designed to be a reliable and consistent race engine at just over 2000HP, and they've been running it at 3000HP, it really puts into perspective how much they have been asking of that engine. Even going back to last season when they turned it up over 35psi for the first time, I literally waited every pass assuming they were going to at least lift a head, more likely bend a rod enough to send it through the block, and then they turned it up to 45psi and it still held together, and then they hit 50psi boost cut and it STILL didn't explode. I really don't think people understand what Steve Morris built here, who else is building engines using that Brodix 540ci aluminum big block with Brodix Headhunters and a lunatic like Garret behind the wheel making tons of passes at 45psi? Absolutely no one that I'm aware of, they're all using full billet setups.

A month late (been catching up on your channel whilst pressing on with a new venue so way behind!) but thanks for the video and being honest about the whole situation. Honestly, I wouldn't worry with what anybody says about what your team does nor do you need to explain it to us in the first place; we aren't owed an explanation in the first place. I don't believe any blame game needed to be played there, Mullet has been a serious contender, even multimillion-dollar NHRA top fuel cars break with people tearing engines and transmissions open EVERY round, plus, your crew is always having fun, learning your setups, and killing it on day one first passes, BTW. It still a HUGE win with what your team creates, builds, and accomplishes atop all odds against you.
Moreover, you inspire the rest of us to build the craziest things and break the rules to make things work better. Those inspirations to the younger crowd bring about the coolest new inventions and modifications to our passion that is racing. That's the best part of it all I think. As someone who has raced cars in the 800 to high 900 hp range, it is a roll of the dice every run. Seeing guys dog the Cleetus team, who race and drive cars well into the 4 digit range on Sick week and Drag week is comical.
When you get to the hp level of mullet, one misfire or a hung injector can ruin the engine in a second.
While Garrett firing the engine with no oil could have caused a problem.. . He owned it. He could have hid that but he put it out there. So good on him for that.

Damn straight! A good weekend of racing is one you walk away from, a great weekend you can still use the equipment. Anyone who tries to blame Pete or Steve just doesn't have a clue. When you run equipment hard it breaks, I honestly wondered how long that block would last knowing the limits of cast blocks.

Integrity isn’t rare, as a species we have a propensity to remember the negative fat more readily then positive leading many to look at everything in a negative way which reinforces the inherent bias.

It's the legacy of this channel to break everything by pushing too hard, and incrementally upgrade. Unfortunately that means it takes a lot of breaking before they get what they originally needed. It's clear that Cleetus likes it that way, to keep a story going and make lots of content. He admitted to that with McFlurry, which they pushed too hard, too quickly, wasting the opportunity to make weeks of videos, before they turn it way up and probably break something, like they just did.

Seems that way, but it's also easy to be that way when you have a customer with a lot of followers and fans who keeps breaking expensive engines that need to be rebuilt or replaced.
That's not a knock on Steve. He does seem to be a nice dude from the content I've seen of him, and he puts a lot of information out there about engine building and his own engines, which is great.

In most industries they impliment a +15% margin of error. In cleetus industry theyre told. "Dont go above 35 pounds of boost, its already pushing it" and then they do +1/3 🤣

McFarland team is the best! That's why I have watched Cleetus for several years now. Yeah, I want to participate in the merchcontests but I don't think they ship the cars to Sweden. A big dream of mine is to go over to USA and watch Cleetus & Co live when they are racing. I have wanted that almost since I started to watch them. But the economy as usual. I think more got the same dream as me. Not only the ones watching Cleetus McFarland outside USA, but even folks in USA that want to see them live.
Well, most hp in a car I have driven was an old Dodge Royal -59 with 320 hp engine. Truckway, I have driven a truck with 650 hp as most, or well rumours said that one truck I drove had over 1 000 hp. Fully loaded it accelerated as a damn car even faster then my Volvo 740 with 115 hp at that time. So I had to shift 12-speed manual quite fast.
That moment of silence was real. Every man there knew the mission and took there hats off. Team Cleet is strong.

I watched a Ryan Martin who has won no prep kings and he showed his oil primer which you put a socket on a drill and spin the oil primer for a minute and it gets 60 psi of oil through out the engine before you start the engine. Cleatus needs this
33% more boost and 800hp OVER its max for several rips is pretty damn impressive. And think of all the views you're gonna get from us watching what you'll possible be working on as an upgrade for that motor!
