  • If your mandarins are bitter and dry here are some simple tips on how to restore your mandarin tree and sweeten the fruit. This is a story of restoration of a Mandarin Tree that was filmed over the period of 1 year. My mandarins went from inedible to sweet and juicy! The tree was restored mainly using free stuff from around my garden. This episode shows how to use worm castings from your worm farm and discusses the benefits of compost to add potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus to your soil - which are essential for delicious and juicy Mandarins.
    Episode 25 - edible plant 25

Thank you for the tips. I'm looking after my daughter's little mandarin tree in a pot. It produced about twenty mandarins and looks tired. I'm going to follow your tips.

Being in the mid north coast region, my citrus have the opposite problem. My oranges are too sweet that they dont have the acidic level to give the flavour. Mind you, they are right next to the chicken pen which gets hosed down once a week.

I really didn’t know if I was going to be able to restore the fruit on this mandarin tree - but I kept filming and kept up the care and I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. I hope you enjoy this video - it represents 1 year of happy garden filming for me on CZcams as well.

@@katu9393 they like cool damp places so the compost is a popular spot - gloves and closed shoes help. They like under the lid and I just leave the lid upturned out in the open for a little while and the magpies like to eat them.
