This was such a fun game, especially since I'm a big Garfield fan. Great music, excellent graphics for a Sega Genesis game, and fun gameplay.
Damn right, this game was a real treat for Garfield fans when it came out on the Genesis.
Huh. A Garfield game that doesn't suck.
Strange
I'd say this game, Garfield and His Nine Lives on the GBA, Garfield's Fun Fest: The Game, and Garfield's Nightmare on the DS are the only good Garfield games.
The rest are either mediocre, or total garbage.
Oh believe me it does
This game, Nine lives, Tail of Two Kittes, Lasanga World Tour, and Fun Fest don't suck
sorry, what do you mean by that? are you saying that GARFIELD KART sucks? invalid opinion
I absolutely love the artwork and animation in this game. Garfield looks so expressive!!
This was one of the only 3 games I ever owned for my sega. Second game I ever fully beat from start to finish after Donkey Kong Country. The music makes me feel like I’m a kid in my parents basement again.
Used to rent this game all the time in my childhood. I don't think i ever beat it, but nonetheless i loved playing it all the same.
Damn, the nostalgia is too strong.
I beat Garfield
WOW, the animation is lion king (SNES) tiers.
I hope so.
and Aladdin on Snes and Sega and maybe Earthworm Jim ;)
+conejo pestilente Jim Davis himself animated the sprites for this game.
It feels more like a PS1 game than a MD one
Whack a mole looks fun
Overused sentiment, but, my god, this game looks beautiful, even for it’s time.
I only recently found out this game existed, and I watched a video on it, describing how a large majority of PAWS, Inc. had involvement with the game, right down to the point where Jim Davis himself had a huge part in the game’s development.
The animation is very fluid, much like a Disney game on GEN/MD.
Reminds me of how fluid Aladdin on Genesis was animated, and that game had been made with a lot of professional Disney artists, and the devs converted every image into sprites.
Just from the outset, I can tell they used a very similar animation technique, and that’s always nice.
As an art critic, seeing things that look absolutely beautiful years later, or just I general, it makes me happy.
A lot of hard work goes into drawing each and every individual frame, which is why I appreciate these kinds of games more and more.
It’d be awesome if this game got rereleased
This is a great game, despite it’s flaws, but, then again, everything and anything in existence has a flaw.
Either way, really good game.
I never owned this game until 2018 but I knew about it since back in the day thanks to the magazines!
Beautiful graphics.
I heard jim davis and some other paws crew oversaw the animation which explains the quality.
He actually detailed his involvement a bit in a book that came with the game
I had this game this brings back so many memories for me
I remember watching the original Garfield & Friends animated series when it aired on CBS and in reruns in syndication.
Holy crap how have I not heard of this the animation is some of the best ive seen in a 16 bit game and the gameplay doesnt look bad
40:19-I agree with Garfield.
Jim Davis's name materializing on the TV was indeed a *Nice touch!*
You can tell by the way they play they are a seasoned Garfield professional
this is almost like an episode of the old cartoon
+krystalfan The second level in particular feels like the Garfield's Halloween Adventure special.
Loved this game, beat it many times when I was younger.
Eu tbm já zerei umas 10 vezes
The dance Garfield did at the start above the logo made me think of Dumb & Dumber.
I was obsessed with this game. The concept. My little 9 year old brain was so happy
Fun game, very underrated.
Oh God! This brings back so many memories!! I felt like a kid there for a second 🥺
Damn this game is in the deepest reaches of my memory lol
My childhood favorite back in the day. I've never gotten past the first channel until now. I beat it twice.
Bruh this soundtrack is epic
as a kid i could never figure out how to beat the first boss lol. i remember i kept messing with the password screen and some how figured out the code to the last stage and ended up beating the game that way lol.
I stuck at the pirate boss for months and finally my cousin came to visit my home and he straight told me on the spot how to beat the boss. Was using winMe PC back then.
same! I was able to play ancient egypt and caveman levels for some reason. maybe pc port had those level first. then got stuck at dracula but was able to find the password like you did!
@@ctackins8874 nice! yeah this game was confusing as a kid. i think i eventually look up how to beat it in my teen years but yeah. what an annoying game lol
Back when I played this game I was like 3 and had no idea what was going on so I never got past the first level.
A real classic for the Genesis! Loved this game
♥🧡🧡
We never got past the vampire boss. We didn't know how to pull the curtains down.
true
I bought this game because of this video. It's super fun and the graphics are awesome.
*N I C E*
Great Sega Mega Drive / Genesis game 🕹👍🕹👍🕹👍
Of ALL the Garfield games, from A Week Of Garfield to The Garfield Show game on Wii, This game stands out because it's not horse sh*t.
this looks really fine!
Garfield taking damage was always creepy lol.
I had it on PC when I was a kid. Count Slobula was the 3rd boss and I could never beat him. It was locked away as a mystery in the back of my mind. 20+ years now, glad I could put the mystery to rest. I also never saw Xargon the end boss in Xargon episode 3.
This is a game that put 70% of it stats into the extremely pretty graphics and animations, another 20% into the sometimes good but ultimately hit-and-miss soundtrack, and the remaining 10% into the controls and level design.
If only the lost levels + the PC levels were added to the game...... Come to think of it, that would've been the 32x Version.
Whoa!! I didn't know this game, was amazing !!
Omfg! I remember playing this garfield game on my sega genesis, a real banger 🔥
wow those animations and art are f a n t a s t i c
but...why?....its a garfield game...
Sega logo with Garfield dancing, LOL
GLC gon' be as stoned as Angie
- Into the abyss earth goes as the sun rotates
I luv this game.
That continue screen is one of the scariest things in a video game
excellent. Gorgeous music
Игра детства так и не осилил её, может быть пройду когда нибудь
Wonderful.
That Sega Interactive sound, so many memories.
I hated this game as a kid.
Bring back memory 😊
this is the plot of gex
O.O howd i miss this i love garfield the original fat cat
this is awesome i need to get this when i rebuy a genesis
When cartoon based video games were good
That actually never was truly the case. There was 1 good one for every 5 shit ones, just try to remember all the really bad Garfield games (like a Week of Garfield), the bad Flintstones games or everything made by Infogrames, because tehy sucked up one license after another to make horrible games (like their bad Asterix, Smurfs, Lucky Luke games) or other really bad ones like Marupilami and so on. Easily 80% of them were crap.
@@melaniel.4269 The only good thing A Week Of Garfield gave us was it's level clear theme.
@@melaniel.4269 That's complete BS. Infogrames games are a lot of fun from back then. Marsupilami wasn't too bad either.
@@pferreira1983 No, it's not BS. Go back and play their crappy games and that goes for all comic licensed games. The usually all follow the same boring, generic by the numbers gameplay, were shit out with little care or interest by the developers and especially the shit from Infogrames was known for their ludicrous, bordering on the cheap and unfair, difficulty.
And you know what? User Ratings and Media Reviews from back then or later proof it. Mediocre to bad across the board. Put down your rose tinted nostalgia glasses because they are always pathetic.
Most games based on cartoons, movies, comics and etc, sucked even back then, watch AVGN, it's just that you only remember the good ones.
If you ever want to co-op on retroarch let me know!
dangwoot damn I’m still trying to sort out retroarch on my mac
awesome game!
Cave Cat is my favorite level 👍🏻👍🏻
Reminds me of gex in a few ways.
Fun fact:Somebody put the coffee break/Continue theme onto a sonic.exe game
“I would ask: Did they even test this Game out? But the Answer is Yes! According to the End Credits, there were 2 Lead testers, 4 Assistant lead testers, and 14 Regular testers! There’s no way!”
-AVGN
Gex before Gex was a thing
40:15
This ending is very irony (of fate), because Garfield say "Fun! Let's do that again!"
But THIS made up for it at 40:19
Ahhhhh the nostalgia
Maybe they should add dinosaur heads as platforms and a tyrannosaurus who roars to chase away the cave dog in the remake of Garfield caught in the act
Bruh.... you've unlocked some random memory
Nostalgia.. 😢
There was something about levels not being in Dos or genesis, and Dos starting with other levels... Always thought it was weird starting out with the horror theme..
Nevertheless, I beat it but never returned to it. Good game still.
PC version is a Windows game, not a DOS game.
" Cough up a lung where I'm from Marcy son ain't nothin' nice. "
I couldn’t get pass the first level lol I had this game back when I was kindergarten back in the 90s
I still have my game gear and my Garfield game.
It is 5am and I’m petting my cat and thought, Garfield, that game… never ever finished it… let me watch a walk through 🤦🏽♀️
I always love to read the comics of Garfield
The Mummy boss and Final boss my favorite 😍
Am i the only one who hears the cutescenes in the voice of lorenzo music? XD
I never got past the first level bc I didn't know about the window shade thing
This is random but do you have a Rocket Knight playthrough?
Good game.❤
Im all so a big
garfeild fan
I miss thise game
Sold as a Sonic The Hedgehog/Garfield Double Pack
Can you choose which order to do the levels in?
This game reminds me of Gex!
Cool Cat
I go hard in the pain't leave you stankin'
Good game but i'm stuck at the Egyptian level
Really? I love Garfield and I'd like to play a decent game of him.
@@filiberto9729 The game's pretty decent, and as you can see in the video, the animation's top notch. But here's a warning. The third boss can sometimes disappear and leave you trapped, so if that happens to you I'd recommend looking up the level skip code. As far as I know that's the only spot you'll need to worry about.
@@robertanderson9447 Ok, thanks bro.
Garfield and the Genesis 🙂👍
I got this game
I had this for Genesis and it had a glitch where it'd get stuck during the saber tooth level 😬 like 50% of the times I played it! PTSD
10/10 perfect 💯👍👏
Garfield caught in the act
What do you think of this game? Sega Lord X recently did a piece on the Mega Drive's Disney games and he said the Talespin game was made by Interactive Designs, who made Greendog, Eternal Champions and this, making it a red flag! Greendog and the Talespin game aren't so good, but I thought this and Eternal Champions were both rather good! Not the Mega Drive's best games, and Eternal Champions was a bit unnecessary as the Mega Drive got a rather good port of Mortal Kombat around this time, but I still think Eternal Champions is a rather good fighter! I can assume that Interactive Designs had improved their craft by the time they began work on this!
Nostalgico
Vampire Odie ❤
can u still get the game for the sega genesis?
Looks great. I hate the modern animated garfield.
ugh I can't get through that darn pendulum thing in egypt even though we clearly see it
better than cyberpunk
1:33
how did they make that slam sound effect so clear
I want this game so bad but its £30-£50
Faltó el sonido del principio...cuando Garfield baila en el logo de sega...
This game plays better on pal
Seemed vaguely confusing a game. I couldn't figure out what some of the parts collected were for. I suppose it's for the mallet key, but I have no idea what that is for.
The malley key is for the whack a mole bonus round
The game is good,The lost levels are good for The game is good in ALL
Garfield caghut in act
10/20 hank:9 A+
so literally we just wait and do nothing with the final boss ?
What happens if you stack this game onto Sonic & Knuckles?
You'll be able to play one level of the Blue Spheres game.
U transport Garfield to Mobius and Eggman turns Odie into a badnik so you have to get the chaos emeralds to turn into hyper Garfield to beat him. But watch out for Metal Nermal
NO WAY!
