    Bought a new one in '91 and used it while backpacking through 15 countries in Europe and Morocco. Bought another "repaired" one cheap recently in a moment of nostalgia. Just love it!...:)

    I've seen a lot of comments on many channels complaining about missing focus. I've owned two of these and I never miss focus. I thought it's because I come from the film days and I understand how the early '90's somewhat primitive auto focus works. Carefully focus on the specific target, half press the shutter button until the green light stops blinking, focus is achieved, shoot. (Not like today's advanced smart phones with blindingly fast and accurate everything in focus). However, I 'm beginning to think that on some of these older P&S cameras, the focus mechanics are no longer working properly. So, it's not user error (sometimes), it's unit error! The lesson is; if you do all of the above steps then your shots should be in focus. The key is to lock focus! Otherwise, the camera is faulty, try another unit.

    I briefly had a Stylus Zoom, and there was an issue I encountered that I imagine the non-zoom could also suffer from. The flash unit would not charge, so that made any flash mode (other than flash OFF) unusable, not only in that the flash wouldn't fire, but also unusable in that the flash modes would block any image from being taken, EVEN IF it's bright enough to where the flash wouldn't be needed. Super frustrating - I definitely prefer P&Ss which opt for a simple flash override.

      DUDE WHAT?! No way...! I didn't even know that that was possible. That stinks....yeah it's the finicky thing about all these old point and shoots. It's nice when you get them for 30-40$ and it's okay for them to break, but as they're starting to get more expensive it really stinks when they malfunction...

      Same with mine. No issue just twice press the "flash off" mode after opening the clamshell cover. I don't the need flash anyways but the camera always fires if I follow this sequence. Easy work around...:)

    I have the mju i & ii.
    Mju ii focusing stopped working so will only fire if the subject is 2m away. At 2ms takes good portraits still tho. lol
    Mju i gives too many out of focus shots. Put over 10 rolls though it. I get 5 to 10 photos out of focus each roll... very annoying.
    I now use the Olympus XA, focus to infinity never misses lol :D

      How did you know that it stopped working? It’s all depends on the green light if it steady then it’s in focus. That’s how I nail my shots.

    • @fishmonkeycow9246
      @fishmonkeycow9246 Před 2 lety

      @@cliffordcastillo8598 I know because the shutter button won't let you press down unless the subject your focusing on is 2m's away. Any distance that is more or less won't let you press the shutter button.
      Sadly the two repair stores said its likely the focus motor has failed and can't move. No parts available so it can't be fixed. :(
