Really enjoyed that one Paul. Brought back memories of when we were there a few years ago. Hoping to get back next year.

Totally agree with you about dentists Paul. Like you it hasn't been necessary for me to visit a dentist for a good number of years. Now however I need treatment and like you having to go private as NHS dentists are rarer than dobby horse crap these days. It cost me £70 just to register with them and that's before any treatment I might need. Guess I'll have to sell a kidney! Hope you managed to get your tooth problem sorted. Some really nice images of the tower at Lake Vyrnwy there Paul. Looking forward to the Elan Valley 📷👍👍

Nice video, Paul. Nice shots too! And well done for getting down onto the beach. I drove up and down that side of the lake a couple of weeks ago, looking for a gap in the trees, in between the showers, and eventually found one, but it was a bit rushed, as I was parked on a double yellow. As it happens, I was just editing some pics of my own from there, Dinorwic and the Elan Valley, so it will be interesting to see your pics from there too. Your videos have been really helpful to this relative newcomer. Cheers, Paul!

@@paulcomptonpdphotography I’d seen a glorious shot of the tower on Photohound, by Matthew Browne, and knew there must be a way to get that angle looking through the arches onto the water, but in his shot the water was up to the top of the base of the tower and provided mirror like reflections of the tower and trees around. Sadly we both had different weather conditions, but I enjoyed trying to get some shots and seeing yours reminded me what an epic place it is. I just love the architecture of all those dams and towers across so many reservoirs in Wales. Maybe a great project to carry on with…..

Enjoyed the video as usual Paul.
Well done for getting out the van in that rain.
I think i would have been in the van until the rain stopped lol.
What a fantastic tower to photograph.
I liked nearly all of the image's.
With regards to the cracks in the mud image's, i wasn't very keen but as you said you weren't happy with them anyway.

Great location again Paul, didn't feel it with the mud shots although I could see the idea 😀 the rest though were very good, another location added to my ever growing list. Take care, Steve.

Some lovely photos Paul. Thanks for another good video. That tower is fabulous. What is the story behind it, I'd love to know.

I know how you feel about the toothache and no dentist. Try using orajel dental pain relief gel it actually numbs it and you can buy it in Tesco/ coop etc. I always pack some in my first aid kit

The reservoir tower I think is perhaps the most beautiful building in Britain. They got the scale and dimensions exactly right ... the Victorians knew something about building public structures.
My understanding on dentists is that they are all private, its their choice if they take a state subsidy to take on extra work. As we don't have enough dentists in the UK they're not short of work ... supply and demand. Most big cities do have an emergency dental hospital, which is free, you just need to get your doctor to refer you ... if you can get an appointment with your doctor ! (I'm lucky, you can turn up any weekday morning and you'll be seen within the hour).
People going on strike ... fact of life. If you're in the private sector belonging to a union is still useful if you're in the sort of job where you might still need legal representation i.e. direct contact with the public ... see it as public liability insurance. As public sector pay hasn't kept up with the private sector (in general) then when negotiation don't get anywhere all you can do is make the point that the job doesn't get done without people turning up .... or move job, which is why the NHS and Social Care is on its knees, eventually people vote with their feet.
I hope the toothache has improved, you get to a certain age and bits start falling off your body 😣

I must admit, there is something about 'Rain' I could sit there for hours listening to the 'Pitter/Patter' of the rain.........

Hi Paul, well done for getting out of the van in that rain you made it well worth the effort. The tower did loook like something out of a fairy tale, it looked and reminded me of Dunrobin Castle which is up near where I live, it too looks like something from a fairy tale with the towers etc. Your photos were beautiful and the colours of the trees surrounding it were lovely. I liked the cracked shore even though the tower wasn’t as prominent in them but it showed how litttle rain there has been for the reservoir to be that low. Another smashing video, thanks again for sharing it with us 😁👍

The mud pictures would work better if the tower was bigger in the frame. Might be hard to find that angle thought.

Great shots Paul. I like how you have started showing the Raw file and then the final edit. It let's us 'play along' by imagining how we might crop and edit the same image. Not sure what time of the year this video was shot, but I imagine that the fall colors behind the tower would look spectacular.

Regarding tripods, the Ulanzi & Coman Lightweight Travel Tripod looks very interesting. According to the specs it adjusts to a height of 156cms and only weighs 1.1kg. Looks like a nice option for longer hikes and biking. I see that you have reviewed other Ulanzi products in the past, to maybe you could get them to sent you one to try out.

Thanks for the info! but do not buy a tripod that goes high and lightweight it will fall over haha
