Just proves the fact that its not the age of the house, it is the quality of craftsmanship that counts! Excellent episodes. Thank You for sharing!

There should be a central body where every home inspector must be registered and also learn the latest home building regulations every year to renew their certificate of competence and where you can report whether they have done a good or bad job and this is also visible to people who need a home inspector so you can immediately fish out the bad inspector.
Every home inspector should also be held accountable if he or she has not done a good job.
The consequences of a bad home inspection can destroy people and make further living in a new or older home almost impossible by having to make repairs that the home inspector should have been able to see and or know about.

If this show ever gets rebooted; Invite the home inspector who failed their job to the house to they can see what they should do.

I don't think any of these would own their failures. I think you should be able to sue an inspector for damages if the problems could have been seen by an inspector. Often enough there are problems Mike sees without doing any damage.

@@seanthiar Not every mistake is made on purpose. It could also be that someone really did not see a defect. So I thought of the positive approach by showing a home inspector what he missed instead of immediately throwing such a person in court.

I just want to know who the supposedly "Quality Builder" was who built that home...want to make sure I never consider one of their homes. This is a quality failure that starts at the very top with the owner(s) of the company, then works its way down through supervisory levels. Very sad!

I'm glad they finally showed the problems with spray foam. Good product but it's difficult to scrape away for renovations. I noticed Mike didn't remove all the spray foam in the garage. It's too much work. They sprayed new foam on top of the old junk.

How can so many wrong things be approved by a building inspector on a new house?
The inspector and his company should be held immediately liable and all costs resulting from this should be recovered from the person and company and his permit should be revoked immediately.
Each phase of the construction should be signed off by an inspector who is authorized to do so and should be liable for it and this should not be someone who is in any way connected to the builder.

30:00 If those spots of the house were installed incorrectly then the rest of the house is built just the same and in the future the house will continue to fall apart. Sell it or demolish it and rebuild a new house.

2nd comment, it costs less to add a few screws, put some tape on and just do the job right in the first place that to rip out everything and redo it. I don't get the mentality of people today. You can't replace quality with quantity.

When a new home has the kinds of obvious issues highlighted in the first episode, that points to corruption of the building code inspectors of the local government.
There is no way any of these flaws could have passed if the inspectors had actually looked at the work.
Only cash can divert the eye of a competent inspector................................
Edit: The bracing in the attic looks like the work of a five-year-old. Disgraceful.................

Put a panel ceiling in like they have in offices so you have access, photos and permits easy. I do agree with inspectors having to hold a licence and renew it every 5 years with a yearly course to keep them updated. Similar to how we have a cpc in the UK for hgv drivers

Finished basements are awesome because it’s like a whole other level of your home just below ground. The big thing is to do it right water is the big factor in basements you have to make sure everything is watertight from the foundation to the floor to the walls. Every basement will have water intrusion and that is usually managed by a sump pump or the weeping tile also known as a French drain. People look for homes with finished basements because you can do whatever you want with the space you can put a living room down there a kitchen a bar bedrooms bathrooms. Me personally I’d like a house with an unfinished basement then I can do what I want with it.
