    It means it's time to change the brake fluid. It's supposed to look like a rotor and pad. DO NOT ignore the periodic fluid changes if you have traction control.

    The small clock signifies that the car is due a service based NOT on mileage or driving style, but on length of time since the last service.

    If you are talking about the numbers above the inspection lights that is the odometer and trip meter. As far as oil/inspection lamps they are based off of engine rpm and mileage. Sorry if I'm not following lol.

    Know nothing about cars...lol....and I need assistance. I just bought a 2001 z3... Nice toy! HOWEVER....it has a feature that I need to press a button just so that it doesn't turn off....a stabilizer? Lol...no clue? The button is next to theshiftstick...to the left of it....
    That was question number one....second question, without taking the cart to an alarm store and paying a bundle, how do I know that the original factory alarm still works or ever worked? Any ideas?
    I'll take it a step further, is there number where you can be reached?

    • @DaytonCarCare
      @DaytonCarCare Před 5 lety +1

      4 years old but the button is ASC or traction control/stability control for your rear wheels (steady amber triangle or circle light in center of cluster if deactivated, flashes if working when driving during wheel slip) . If you hold your ASC button for 10 seconds it will deactivate your electronic traction control until you cycle the ignition key again. You will still have mechanic torsen limited slip differential though. If your alarm doesn't work it could have been deactivated because there is a bad micro switch in the soft top or the hood sensor is bad. Those are the most common problems anyways. Note: the alarm control module is typically mounted under the lower knee bolster right under the instrument cluster. Remove bolster to access it.

    Good day. I have a BMW e36 316i.
    The issue I am dealing with us that only 3 out of the 4 spark plugs are firing. Like any rational thinking person, I changed the spark plugs, but the problem still persisted. I was able to test the ignition cables and I found that they are perfectly fine.
    My coil pack on the other hand was suffering from drastic overheating, so I bought a brand new coil pack, but the problem of only having 3 spark plugs firing persisted.. What could be possibly wrong? Might I need to just buy a new computer for the car?
    Because it also doesn't respond to any diagnostic tests.
    This started a month after having put a new m43 engine on the car, which is the exact engine type the car uses.
    Please help me out, this car is my baby, my love, my beastly e36.

      @SheldonMedia  Před 7 lety

      I'm sorry to hear that my friend. Have you ran it through a code reader? Do you know which cylinder is not firing or misfiring. My next thing to try, if you haven't already, would be to change the plug wire for the cylinder that isn't firing.

    He means the clock between the written text in the textline above the green, yellow and red digits for service. Its between "service" and "oil", if you have only the yellow or red digit left (so you have to go to the service).
    I THINK this clock means, that the service is due, because the last one was long ago and not because you have made to much miles / kilometres. I'm not sure

Today's scanners are very sophisticated and I want to make sure the one I purchase is comparable with 1998 Technology. Is there a Scanner capable of this without breaking the bank and what scanner would be your suggestion?

      I would highly suggest "Carly for BMW". Search for it on Amazon. It plugs into your OBD II port and works with an app you download on you smartphone. It's a little pricey, but it works very well for trouble codes and diagnostics. Additionally, it's made directly for BMW's and if you have a newer BMW it can reprogram electronic functions. God bless!

      There is a way to change to miles to kms or kms to miles... Need a computer to interface a cable to obd2. You will need to access from F2 to enter the BIOS to see the EPROM-ROM it a program memory inside you will see all the menu and change it... Other wise cann experiment with a scanner can read the menu... It is the same thing.
