Rick was initially told that people wouldn’t want to watch a show about employees of a pawn shop, but the millions of fans have gone a long way to prove that notion wrong. Meanwhile, the store’s business has increased exponentially due to the popularity of the show.

What fans don't know unless you have visited their shop is that it just your average crap filled pawn shop no different any pawn shop in your home town

About 20% of their pawn shop is nothing but their own items, t-shirts, posters and other stuff. I used to like this show, not so much anymore.

They're not paid actors. The items are real and the transactions do take place, but that is done behind doors. The shit we see on TV is the scripted part of the whole thing, whether a transaction is taken or not.
For instance, the Japanese Swords they have are 100 percent real. You don't just get 1600 era swords worth thousands to be a stand in prop- and most of the experts we do see have been on the scene for years even before the show. Also you can literally buy the items on the Ebay and websites. A couple of the Katanas I was talking about are on there.

The experts always give the retail or auction price. Even still, most of what you see on this TV show is fake. I worked in a pawn shop several years ago and there's NO way in hell a pawnshop owner would call in an expert to appraise the item right there in front of the customer.

Yeah, I was at Fan Expo in Toronto in 2013 where for some reason Chumlee had a booth. No one was there. He was sitting by himself and he looked so depressed I could have cried for him. No one gave a shit about him.

The acting got a bit cringy but in did love watching this show.

I happened to be in Vegas for work and I walked to the pawn shop on this show.
Nobody from the show was there and there seemed to be nothing of value in the store... Only souvenir merchandise about the show and the store.
Pretty much a waste of time.

How to run a pawn shop:
Determine what you can sell the item for.
Offer the sap half of that price.
If he sap won't take it, run the item down and find fault with it.
And then bring your offer up, but only slightly. And make your decision look as dramatic as possible.

I stopped watching the show the night I went to the shop and saw it was all a big tv scam. They aren't ever there. And they don't sign autographs. They are there for filming then leave. And no not some of the pawn shop is closed during filming. All of it is, hardly anything is for sale and when you ask to buy shit they say you have to contact the show and aim a contract to purchase anything due to filming and show rights.
Not to mention it's a pit and small as fuck. My bathroom is bigger than the old mans counter. Your bedroom is probably half if not more than than half of the entire shop.
