So this friend of my dad worked for an Italian tv channel back then and he went to London for an event. They went to a dinner in a restaurant with his crew one night. Freddie and some of his entourage and friends were there at a table pretty close to them. My dad's friend recognized Freddie, and being a fan he asked a waiter to deliver a bottle of wine at Freddie's table. When Freddie noticed the bottle was offered, he stood up, went to my dad's friend table and shared it with them. They spoke for a minute and then Freddie asked my dad's friend for his home address. He didn't realize why Freddie asked for it but he wrote it down for him. Then everyone went back to their business. A few months later, 2 tickets for the Wembley '86 concert came in the mail. That's how Freddie Mercury was
My favourite Queen song and has remained so since 1978. I saw them 8 times back in the day and always hoped they would do this one, but sadly they never did. So happy to see this live version so thanks for posting. ❤
3:19 bro how did Freddy not only make an amazing song in general, but put on live performances that both sounded unique from each other and are absolutely fantastic? My man is legend for real.
@@spider-man120 I didn't say that! I once heard he didn't like it. But I don't think it's true, because in the studio, he gave body and soul to this song.
@@spider-man120 la dificultad de la canción es ciertamente una posible causa de por qué no les gustaría hacer en vivo esta cancion. Pero de todos modos, en la gran mayoria de las grabaciones se los escucha muy animados
@@annabelej8021 its 1978...Jazz Tour December 1st. The one you're thinking of is the last show of the Game Tour (November 25, 1981) and they never played It's Late live again after the Jazz Tour ended in 1979.
@@kilgore1863 Yes, you're absolutely right. To be honest, I wrote it hastily, but then something didn't add up, something bothered me. 🤣😂 Thanks for correcting my incorrect comment!!👍🏻😘
Brian just kills it here, awesome solo! Unfortunately its not Freddie's natural key so he has to duck out a lot of the high register stuff. Still mind blowing though.
John Deacon played guitar on the original recording, in my mind he should have done so when they played live. Brian's playing style doesn't really work for this song. He's more ornate in his style than John who plays with a more rounded sound.
So hard to make this one live.... They were so brave!
There are better versions of this one.
@@marriusmal lemme see
@Nick Xero long song, quite demanding for any vocalist: intense singing, high tones etc...
@@jc-13 Detroit 1977, Stockholm 1978 is the best overall even if the quality is a bit rough but mmmmh
Great live performance of one of Queen's best songs. Wowww.

You should check out Staying Power studio version compared to Staying Power live at milton keynes bowl/ june 1982. It's awesome.
@@matrixman777 Definitely yes!!! This whole concert (Milton Keynes ) is perfect!!!!!
He's not Freddy, he's Freddie. And not Freddie, it's Queen make an amazing song in general, and Brian wrote the song.
An extremely difficult song in such a high key. The videos show my favorite live show phase.
Holey cow what a rocker!
I have seen so many 'big' bands over the years as I worked on 'security' in the 70's and 80's. But not one came close to Queen for entertainment.
just a pity we did'nt have actual footage of them playing this one, my absolute fave Queen song 👑✊🇬🇧
Montreal 1981
My absolute fav Queen song too! Should have been a huge smash hit world-wide.
Band threw themselves 110 percent into this one!👏
*BEST QUEEN SONG EVER* period!!!
Freddie, sweet Genius!!!
Huge talent!

Yeah!. Thank you!. *QUEEN*
Amazing!

That’s haw Freddie was💯🥰
That is fantastic
Freddie in one interview I cook on stage I have got every ingredients what built up my personality I am very frivolous and volatile
William Fox,I just wanted to tell you that my name is Chris Fox and my dad and granddad were both William and that's about it peace out ✌️
Goddamn
The intro Freddie sounds so aggressive 😩
Because he hate sing this song in live. Maybe because this Queen retired this song from setlist
@@TheQueenSpace um idk how to tell you this, most of the recordings you can tell they are having a good time

Video footage doesn’t match the audio. Still pretty cool in a way
most the concerts werent filmed so we have to make do
I absolutely love this song, but I think they butchered it. But then again it’s not the best quality video
Montreal 1978 is probably one of the best performances of Its Late, sadly there is no full video of this song.
