    Hi Sean, can't wait for your Aberdare trip, I was born there in '53 and left in '65 for Canada where I still am. Last trip to Aberdare was in '83 ,wow, so long ago, I bet so much has changed! As a youngster my uncle would take me to Aberdare park to watch the motorcycle racing, and net fish for tiddlers in the park pond. Wonderful and innocent times!!!

      Nice to see you put up the other curtain looks good. You could put up a mirror in that corner where the desk is. My grandparents were welsh ,but I don't ever rember going to Aberdare, be nice to see what it is like.

  • @user-lr2wl5sp1b
    @user-lr2wl5sp1b Před měsícem +23

    Hi Sean, to really reap the curtain’s potential you need to gather the header tape. First, and VERY IMPORTANT, secure the header tape strings together at the centre edge, then on the outer edge pull the strings all at once until the curtain top is half the width of the rail then tie off. Distribute the gathers evenly along the top edge. You can use this type of curtain with the poles you bought, you just need rings to go on the pole and then there are curtain hooks suitable for hooking into the rings, just so you know for next time. 😊

    I personally don't think you need anything on the walls in your bedroom as your lovely curtains are patterned and take up a whole wall. You don't want the room too enclosed. Looking forward to seeing your trip to Aberdare as I have never been there

  • @suecox2308
    @suecox2308 Před měsícem +7

    The curtains look very attractive. I would put a single large piece of art on the wall above the bed--and by large I mean at least three feet wide. It won't be visible from the bed, so you would still retain that peaceful quality when you wake up. The right picture won't close in the room, in fact it would be almost like an additional window. I'd look for something in a thrift shop--either a landscape or a still life in colors that will look nice with the lovely greens in the curtains and on your bed.

    That's a lot of hassle for you to return the bread maker. When i have a problem with anything from amazon i get in touch and speak to an advisor, explain the problem, in your case the plug and how it is not convenient or a problem to return. They have either organised an up lift, or credit or refund without having to return. Ive had a double bed frame sent twice, told to keep the second one free as too much hassle to up lift. Ive had a second table sent free, i had returned a double air fryer twice as had problems, i left negative feedback, out the blue the company got in touch and sent me another for free, no strings. I could go on but my point is you should not have accepted what they said re returning it and where you had to go. Sometimes it pays to complain.😉👍

A stark bedroom, I believe, can be an inspirational asset for any keen writer, like a blank page, just waiting for something. To gaze out of an upper room window or any window, in fact, and catch the simplicity of a moment is artwork in itself.

As you mentioned Aberdare Park is worth a look, the Market is great too, then there’s Dare Valley Country Park which is such a beautiful spot. There’s a little museum and cafe up there. (I think the museum is still there) You could also check out the Cynon Valley museum near Tesco too. St John’s church is a must see and so is St Elvans (the one with the spire) have a great day.

    I loved the three outdoor swimming pools there as well - nearly drowned in one mind!

    I'd rethink the need for an automatic breadmaker, Sean. Most of them have non-stick coatings in the pans, which you've mentioned before you are not a fan of. There are some great no-knead recipes these days and you can just buy a plain bread tin to bake your bread in.

    Making bread by hand is a lovely process. It’s a really useful and marketable skill to learn. The kneading gives you some excerscize and works your core muscles. It only takes 15 minutes and it’s quite mediative and relaxing. The bread makers are; ok but you will never better a loaf of bread that you made yourself fresh out of the oven. It’s a great way to warm the house in winter too. A simple old British recipe I’ve baked all my life is a good place to start and easy to remember. 1lb flour, 1/2 pint water, 1tsp salt and 1tsp dried yeast.

    I like the smaller bedroom, it’s a cozier place to sleep, here in California the "master" bedrooms can be ridiculously Huge! May as well sleep in the middle of a dance floor, the opposite of cozy.
    They make led light strips (and light bulbs) so you can change the color of the room and walls to fit your mood, they usually have a remote control, the infinite colour palette and brightness (that some have) is a good way to experiment with mood lighting, the small room and white walls, perfect for that.
    Cheers

    Bedroom looks nice now👍. Perhaps you could have a draped throw over bottom of your bed. Perhaps a cream colour? Then in winter you would be really cosy🔥🌻🍊🍋🤗

    I too have plain walls and eye-catching curtains in my bedroom. When I did my photography course I had to get 4 of my pictures framed for an exhibition. I've hung 1 on the wall between 2 wall lights opposite the window. I'm sure you have plenty of your own pictures you can enlarge and frame to an appropriate size. 1 picture doesn't make an art gallery, but having 1 of your own is pleasing.
    A mirror in a dark place reflects light and makes the space look bigger.
    I love your oranges and lemons.

    Sean I love your curtains and think they provide not only color but a cozy vibe to your bedroom and the Roman shade in the kitchen is perfect at that window.
    Enjoyed your little trip and glad the bread maker is finally done with for now. Enjoy the week.❤❤❤

    In between making your own bread, take a look at frozen bread, Ezekiel is a brand sold in California - 0 sugar and far fewer “preservatives” and other chemicals. Im sure the UK has an equivalent.
    Your’e right, modern bread is Garbage.
    Personally I like Sour Dough, it naturally lasts longer, if you make your own then certainly portion it and freeze it. A local bakery may sell you "starter" since they throw some of it away Every day.
    Glad you improved your sleep quality.
    Cheers

    When you got home and put down the kitchen blind, I noticed the leaves in the print look like the leaves of the plant! I have to agree about the walls being too blank for my taste, but I understand the idea of minimalism. You want a bedroom to be a restful place. Maybe instead of pictures on the wall a couple of accent pillows, solid colors, to pick up the colors in the curtains would be nice.
    The saga of the bread machine provided us all with a bit of entertainment! Have you considered trying to make bread without a machine? It really isn't as much work as you might think. I have a bread machine, too, and make bread both ways depending on my mood and time.

    I love your curtains in your bedroom, and I think a lovely big mirror, with a lovely frame, would look great on the far wall, by your John Boy table, and it would reflect light into the room during the day. I think pictures are needed on the walls, and the glass cover on them, again will reflect light, and will make your room feel wider. Hope you managed to get the Bread Maker gone at last? xxx

    Sean you do know making bread is just as easy without a breadmaker ;) I used to make mine without a mixer. About 6 loaves a week! My kids are all grown now and now I'm gluten intolerant so I don't bake bread anymore :( 😂

    Love the curtains. They really look great in your bedroom. To draw all the colours together,and have a focal point, you might like a simple watercolour that brings the colours together.

    Spartan is a thing, but an evenly spaced set of paintings at standing eye level looks and feels nice in a bedroom too. I'd keep considering that.

    It's definitely better with two curtains, Sean. I'd leave the walls bare for the sake of serenity. I find mirrors a little startling as I keep catching reflected movements.
