      Sadly all dwarven holds since LotR have looked like Moria, the great Realm and City of Dwarrowdelf.
      Luckily I love that style but I can understand why people might be sick of it at some point.

    Pretty sure the collective hate for Athel Yenlui is due to the shared trauma of a million lost full book runs due to the giant forest area that makes you weave back and forth across the map to get both tomes & the grim.

    • @jtcLIVE
      @jtcLIVE  Před 3 lety +14

      Fair enough, although I’d argue the bigger cause for wipes in this area is people splitting up/wandering away from the group and getting separated

      That forest portion is as fun to play as it is cancer for the run itself. I love sniping and pushing forth in that forest portion and I hate how much time it forces you to waste going back and forth.

    I love Righteous Stand. It’s gameplay is great and always a nice way to wind down after a frustrating day. But what truely ties the map is the grand scale and the feeling like you went through a long way. Something very fitting of getting the treatment of bearing the “warhammer” title and something that is unique to this map.
    The feeling of looking back from the temple to back where you started make you feels like you went through a pilgrimage.

    I am quite the opposite. I love any kind of underground dungeon-themed close-quarters map such as Blood in the Darkness and Into the Nest and find open maps like Athel and Grain to be kind of dull.

    I listened to an interview with the fatshark devs where they discussed the righteous stand sigmar statue and they said that it was a decision they made a week before game released to add the sigmar statue killing everything to make it more exciting because originally it was just gonna be a holding out for a certain amount of time/ waves like horn of Magnus finale and they thought adding the raising statue and flash of light killing all the enemies made it way more exciting. I reckon Because it was so last minute I don’t think they had time to get the 5 voice actors to do some more dialogue reacting to it

    The story JTC tells about Against the Grain is so magical i only WISH i could've experienced it that way!
    Against the Grain was also my first Vermintide 2 map, and I played with my best friend. Thing is, I was previously acquainted with the Skaven through Total War: Warhammer so I wasn't too shocked.
    What DID get that reaction out of me was when I got my first veteran deed, where if we got knocked down once, we were dead, and only elites spawned in the map. Seeing that many stormvermin legitimately made me think, "We are NOT living through this."

  • @alexmcd378
    @alexmcd378 Před rokem +2

    I disagree with a lot of these, but only because we have different priorities on what makes a good map. Within your framework, all your placements make sense. You highlight a lot of things I miss. Like the destroyed towns with corpses everywhere are just dressing to me, but when you mention stopping to think about the far reaching tragedy and death that comes from thinking of them as set dressing but as former people, it opens up a lot of environmental storytelling I was missing.
    You've got me tempted to do my own breakdown to see how they compare in other ways. For example, I do hobby caving, and hunger in the dark does caves really well. A video game cave that doesn't have mood lighting everywhere because darkness is bad? Fantastic 😊

      I actually like the dark section in Blightreaper more than hunger in the dark just because you can spread out your light more thanks to the braziers and torches. It gives just as much feeling of a fight in the dark but with less of the not being able to see a damn thing because you strayed a meter or two from the cart while dodging.

    You're going to have to make a video justifying why you like Nurgloth because he is a giant useless sack of garbage of an encounter. Easily my least favourite boss in the game.
    ... okay he's mostly fine except for the final 3rd of the fight where he just becomes nigh on unhittable because he has 1 attack animation that can do 3 different things so you never know when you can go in and get hits or not.
    ((Aka: please make a guide to fighting him because he sucks.))

    In my humble opinion, it checks all the bad game design marks for a game like Vermintide.
