Mirabella Imbaccari :: Sicily :: NeSpoon :: 2024

Mirabella Imbaccari is a small town in the heart of Sicily, proudly known as the "città del tombolo" - city of bobbin lace. While searching through the archives at the historic Palazzo Biscari, formerly home to a lace school, as well as the collection at the local museum, I came across a distinctive ornament called "riccioli e rose." A beautiful doily featuring this motif served as the inspiration for my mural.
I am very grateful for the invitation and the extraordinary two weeks spent in Mirabella Imbaccari with Daniela Marcì. Thank you to Angela Terranova and her family for their care and personal approach. My thanks go to all the organizations, especially La Fondazione Horcynus Orca, La Fondazione INCONTROcorrente E.T.S. and Foundation MeSSInA and people involved in the creation of my mural. Thank you to Mayor Mirabella Giovanni Ferro and Vice Mayor David Granato. Finally, I am very grateful to the people of the city for their extremely warm and cordial welcome.
