That bird is a Kill Deer aka Kee a Dee and they lay eggs in the gravel to disguise them from anything that might want them for lunch, and are very protective of them.
The strips interlock together to make a solid landing strip
That bird was not trying to mate with you. She was pretending to be injured so as to draw you attention away from her nesting site! (If she was able/even wanted to mate with humans her nest site would be much easier to spot, the eggs world be huge 🫡🤭)

The big metal plate with the holes in it, Pierced Steel Planking. Used for military airfields and by construction companies.
The rectangle thing with the wires is an electrical ballast. Scrap yards will usually pay for them separately from scrap iron, just like they do with electric motors.
Your ramp is probably what it's used for nowadays what it was originally made for was Landing air strips for World War mostly in the Pacific
Your big metal ring was a wagon wheel the iron portion around the wooden hub-and-spoke

So if you are trying to avoid the extreme heat, why don't you head farther north where the heat is less extreme. It would be nice to see you in a state you haven't magnet fished before. Why not some places like Illinois, Michigan, or Wisconsin.

The steel ring in a wagon wheel rim. I'm you can find a hit and miss engine or tractor guy in the area he'll probably pay you more than scrap. It is a little hard to tell diameter but I'm thinking 20 to 30 dollars/
