    WHY COMPARE THE CLP745 AND CLP 785? We’ve found that many buyers who are looking for the best possible replication of the touch and sound of a grand piano in a price range of under $6,000 will narrow it down to two models, the CLP 745 and the CLP 785
    In this video, we'll attempt to show you the differences between these two models and hopefully help you make the right purchase for your family.

      @@midnight4109 Yea I totally get that.. There is just something about having even more control over your piano, that is worth the extra money.
      Like, yes for that price I could almost buy an upright acoustic piano, but that wouldn't have that beautiful sounds of a CFX or Bosendorfer.

I’ve just tried clp775 and cvp 805/809 and thought that clp 775 is lacking that grand piano feel keyboard and the sound but cvp series isn’t very minimalistic looking with loads of buttons but great to touch and listen to! … looks like clp 785 is the way forward 🙌🏻🤩 if I can get hold of one in Dubai 😅

    You guys should pair the 785 with an actual Yamaha CF concert piano for fun. See how close the 785 actually comes to the real thing. Get professional pianists in...see if they can tell which piano they're listening to. :) Or a Bosendorfer Imperial...or a Yamaha C7X...

    • @Instrumental-Covers
      @Instrumental-Covers Před 2 lety +12

      I have played the Yamaha CLP795GP, which is the top of the range Clavinova in baby grand style, in the same room with acoustic grand pianos, including a Yamaha C7 and a Yamaha CFIII (two generations behind the CFX). The difference in sound is very obvious, particularly if you are close to them. Speakers have trouble producing the amount of midrange clarity and presence real pianos produce. A piano like the CFIII will just overpower the CLP795GP in a gigantic way. Plus, digital pianos typically sound boomy compared to real pianos. You get a huge bass from the CFIII, but it doesn't sound boomy. Part of the reason is that real pianos behave similarly to Open Baffle speakers (search Open Baffle speakers and see how they work), but digital pianos usually rely on little built-in ported subwoofers to produce the bass. Ported subwoofers produce air shuffling and the bass is punchy but fake, not like a real grand piano. Real pianos produce bass by the sheer size of the membrane (soundboard). The amount of color and harmonics you get from the CFIII cannot be matched by the CLP795GP either. The sustain is another area where digital pianos don't compete with real pianos. Piano notes decay too fast in digital pianos because they are probably not fully recorded samples. All in all, digital pianos sound great, but you can quickly discover their shortcomings when it comes to sound in a live comparison with acoustic pianos.

    It is unfair to pair up the 745, a $4000 middle of the road Clavinova piano to an $8000 top of the line Clavinova 785. To be fair try to compare the Clavinova 785 with the GP 795 a $10,000 piano. I am happy I purchased the Clavinova 745 it is a solid middle of the road Cavinova piano. You are paying $4000 more so that the sound is slightly better because of the speakers and it is more artisan, you can open the back. You might as well pay another $2000 and get the top of the line 795

    • @cyph3r473
      @cyph3r473 Před 2 lety +1

      The point is to compare the two models so people can decide if the extra cost is worth it. The 785 sounds significantly better, but also costs significantly more. If you're on a budget, this video helps decide if the extra price is worth it "to you".
      Also the 795 is exactly the same as the 785, just in a grand style cabinet. To most people, the 2k increase for essentially a cosmetic difference isn't worth it.

    • @thebig12conference73
      @thebig12conference73 Před 2 lety

      @@cyph3r473 That is good information you have given me and don't get me wrong this video is useful. So there is also a 775 in between the 785. I know the 775 is more artisan and it can fold up. Well I am on a budget today but in a year i will not be. My next upgrade will be the GP795. It is a pretty penny worth about $10,000 but they have a Yamaha CF feature and a Boosendorfer, they do on the 745 as well but they have more speakers.
      For my budget and my current sitaution, as much as I love the 785, I think the 745 was the right buy. I also did not know they had a 7.95 but it has a grand style cabinet. I agree with you that if the 2k is just cosmetics, then it is not worth it. Would you say though it is worth it to pay the difference to improve from a 745 to a 785?
      Reason why I am not looking at a 785 or a 795 is you might as well just get a GP 795 because it is going to be about the same cost most likely. If you are going to pay $8000-9000, might as well spend $1000 more and get a top of the line.
      Now I will tell you one thing I am glad i did not cheap out and go for the 735 model. The 745 should hold me down for the next couple of years, until it's time to get an upgrade. Ultimately, I would like to get a 6ft Yamaha CF series but those are acoustic, and they are around $45,000-60,000. Your video is helpful.
      I would also some videos that compare like for like for example the Yamaha Clavinovaa 745 is probably comparable to the Rolland LX 705. The 775 is probably equivalent to the LX 706 and so forth. Just a suggestion.

    • @themike97_58
      @themike97_58 Před rokem +1

      the 785 also has a better action. the keys are individually weighted instead of group weighted, it has better/more bells and whistles, and, yes, it sounds better. The cabinet looks like an acoustic upright as well whereas the 745 has the classic spinet digital piano look. i think a big reason people don't buy the 795 is because its $2k more for a nearly identical playing experience, and space usage is really inefficient. being able to put the piano out of the way up against a wall is really nice. tbh im not really sure what market the 795 serves. youre getting to the price point where you might as well just buy a baby grand acoustic piano if you want the baby grand aesthetic.
