  • The Washington D.C. Metro's Silver Line is one of those lines that puts the A Train to shame in terms of length. It's actually 10 miles longer. One would think an airport an hour away from the downtown core would be a perfect terminal for the line but nope, the line keep going deeper into Virginia to serve Ashburn Village. The weird part? The highway the line runs along has provision to carry the Metro even further! The Station itself is beautiful and a short walk from the Main terminal so no need for those chinsy Airport Monorails or people movers.
This make the second airport connection to Metro since the Metro reach Ronald Reagan National Airport in 1977. The line was originally going to be built in 1990 when the initial 99 Mile system was constructed but delays with the Green Line and it's almost cancelation delayed the Dulles Metro project into the 2010s when shovels finally hit the ground. The highways, Metro and even Airport had provision to allow for the line to be built. Almost all of those provision were utilized. Today the Silver Line is vital link to D.C. even if itakes an hour to get there.
