As part of my music class we had to learn about composers. Verdi was one of them. I have listened to this song about 15 times in the last 2 months. I cannot get this out of my head. One of the best songs to learn in school of all time.
I seriously doubt having an aria where a villain and libertine tells what he thinks about women would be an appropriate national anthem. Now, "Va pensiero" from Nabucco was actually a candidate at one time, I believe.
TheEarlOfRitchester It'd be interesting, but I suspect some Italians will find identification with an opera villain objectionable, not when there are so many beautiful arias sung by "heroes" available. BTW, "Va Pensiero" was actually proposed by an Italian senator in 2009.
I dought that the Italians would not like this as their national anthem because this song translates to women are so fickle and are always wanting a lot
jesus salvador Yes, and in addition to it it is sung by an opera villain who seduces women and then dumps them. See the girl in the window. This girl was a virgin who was seduced (and maybe even raped - we don't know it happened behind the stage) by him. He is an absolute ruler of a province in 16th century Italy and he amuses himself by seducing virgins and married women and the fathers and husbands are helpless.

Невероятный, божественный голос. Неземное исполнение. Лучшая.
Danke dass Sie das wunderschöne Lied ins Netz gestellt haben. Gruß G.B.
Luciano Pavarotti was the greatest tenor of all time!
100% he sang like thunder until his last days.

How is this 15 years ago? I still remember it so clearly
I can't even fathom what any of the people who downvoted this absolutely beautiful song were thinking. Do their ears not work?
If this man's face doesn't make you crack a smile than I don't know what to tell you
The definitive performance of this classic piece.
Why the fuck is this not the Italian national anthem?
I seriously doubt having an aria where a villain and libertine tells what he thinks about women would be an appropriate national anthem. Now, "Va pensiero" from Nabucco was actually a candidate at one time, I believe.
TheEarlOfRitchester It'd be interesting, but I suspect some Italians will find identification with an opera villain objectionable, not when there are so many beautiful arias sung by "heroes" available. BTW, "Va Pensiero" was actually proposed by an Italian senator in 2009.
You should expect that kind of comment from a classless person that lives in a house on wheels.
He is an absolute ruler of a province in 16th century Italy and he amuses himself by seducing virgins and married women and the fathers and husbands are helpless.
i cant stop listening
