- Dr. James White speaks on History of the Christian Church has been filled with glory and moments of great error. But through it all, fallible men and women have recognized the infallible truths of Scripture like the doctrine of the Trinity, the deity of Christ, and Sola Scriptura. With each passing century we gain a fuller picture of the magnificence of Christ's Church. Truly the gates of hell have never prevailed against it.
This is the first video of James White that I watched as a Fundamentalist KJV Onlyist, so glad I listened more and got out of that whole belief system.. God Bless

@@PInk77W1 I don't exactly know what you mean, I assume you are a Catholic. About a month after I left this comment I reverted to Catholicism, so you guys won! But the original KJV had the apocrypha in between the testaments, not as scripture. I now believe the deuterocanonicals to be scripture, but the KJV translators did not. What matters is that Christ's Church has recognized them as scripture.. peace and thanks

“It took time to collect these things”. Who was it who collected them and when were they collected. For scripture to be “God Breathed” don’t you have to rely on the Holy Spirits inspiration on the “collectors” as well as on the authors?

@@robertofunk673 Yes of course. My point is that the Holy Spirit inspired all the men throughout the entire process from Christ to the Codex Sinaiticus to give us Scripture. Those men are called Apostles, Disciples, Saints and Church Fathers who were also similarly inspired to give us the Church. It’s simply unreasonable to believe they were infallibly inspired to create the Bible but completely lacking similar inspiration or just plain wrong in every other aspect of their respective ministries.
@@SaltShackIs it possible to identify an infallible book without being infallible yourself? Yes. One of the gifts of the Spirit is discernment. John the Baptist was able to identify Jesus as the “Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” because the Spirit revealed this to him. Later, while in prison, John the Baptist questions if Jesus is the Christ who was to come?

Sola Scriptura is a reasonable tradition because it’s “Possible” the fallible men who’d created the Bible were singularly guided by the Holy Spirit in that work and absent any similar inspiration or wisdom or succession from the Apostles and therefore in error, in fact, heretical in the creation of Christs Church? I suppose it’s possible but for it to be probable you have to ignore significant parts of Scripture while at the same time arguing for it being Sola. The Organization of the Church is Scriptural, Bishops, Presbyters and Deacons. The Fundamental Organizational Principle is Enduring Consensus Scripture defines as Pleasing to The Holy Spirit. Scripture commands that the Church Be of One Mind and Judgment. Scripture has clear direction for the consequences of Schism and precise orders on what’s required for schismatics to return to the Body of Christ. Beyond ignoring just Scripture you also have to ignore more than 900 years of Church History and in fact believe that there was no True Christian Church until the Bishops of Rome discovered it in the 9th or 10th century or likewise Calvin and Luther discovered it in the 15th. Based on that ability to determine Truth by recent revelation we should be arguing the validity of Mormonism or the ridiculousness of Baha U Llah or Joel Osteen’s “Prosperity Gospel”. The Papacy and every Protestant and Evangelical tradition is anathema to these principles and have in fact replaced them with new rationalizations. Discernment, for Roman Catholics is provided by the Papacy, for Protestants the individual, for the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church it’s the Biblical principle of the resounding voices of the many.
But the biggest stumbling block to Sola Scriptura is the fact that those who defend it don’t practice it. Luther had his 95 theses and various “Statements of Faith”, Geneva, Westminster…….Calvin wrote “Institutes of the Christian Religion” and every Protestant/Reformed/Evangelical Sermon I have ever whitenesses has been a 12 second reading of scripture followed by a 20, 30, 45 minute explanation of what “the plain text” means and how it’s relevant to my life. Tradition formulated from Heresy remains heresy regardless of how many Bible Quotes accompany it. That has always been the case even when the heresy was spoken by Bishops and Patriarchs with much more credibility than Luther and Calvin combined. The constant antidote to Heresy has always been the Church that has remained faithful to Scripture and the traditions of the Apostles and the fingerprint of the Holy Spirits continued inspiration on the Body of Christ remains the enduring voices of the many as described Fr. Panayiotis Papageorgiou.
