      The best advice I can give you is not to compare your journey to other peoples. There’s some people that will be better singers, better actors or a better dancer than you are. Don’t let that bring you down or discourage you. Just focus on yourself and strive to be a better YOU everyday.

    Hi ! Loved the video. So I have some questions. I wanna go to AMDA like in a 3 years time, but I have tons of problems. First I am Brazilian, so I am an international student and I don’t know how the rules works for me. Besides that I don’t know if I will be able to pay, so I really wants some tips... I saw something that international students can’t work while studying on AMDA it’s that true?
    Do I need to know how to dance SUPER well? Like I obviously dance, but I don’t know tap or classic ballet (I am kind of afraid of ballet actually)

    • @KimDiaz
      @KimDiaz  Před 5 lety +1

      Meal prepping will depend on what your scheadule is like when you get here. But it can be done and i recommend it 100% percent because it keeps you from wasting money (nyc is really expensive) you are coming for the summer semester which is when the school has the least amount of people in it because most people take the summer, so lucky for you the kitchen will be mostly empty

      @KimDiaz  Před 4 lety

      I didn’t do the summer program so I don’t know much about it, if you have the money I would say go for it. But it’s really not necessary, it won’t give you any sort of head start with your actual classes but if you want the experience and have the money I would say go for it.

      Sorry for the late response! But what do you mean by core classes ? The acceptance rate here is 21.8%. The showcases we have here are really good! I love watching them. The only chance you really have to perform on the stage in the NY campus is only in 4th semester when you do a musical showcase and a drama showcase. That’s unless you do school shows like cafe series which is a show in which people do anything they want in. No, I did not go to the summer camp.

  • @witchplease77
    @witchplease77 Před 4 lety

    Doesn't AMDA require their Musical Theatre students to learn to take piano lessons and classes in music theory? IMO, that's just competent musicianship. Ear training--a common music class--along with certain vocal exercises (e.g. flexibility exercises, such as stacattoed HAs on various intervals) are typically required when teaching sight-singing; so, I'd be interested to know how Sight Singing is taught without this training as a foundation? Those exercises are also GREAT when singing technically difficult songs, such as Sondheim. ;) Also, I had heard that one must re-audition in order to be accepted into the second year. Is this true, or perhaps it's been phased out? Either way I'm fairly certain that one had to be invited back to attend the second year. I'm also totes with you girl re: those white walls!

    • @KimDiaz
      @KimDiaz  Před 4 lety

      I don't know if that was requirement before but I was not required to take any piano lesson classes. we did have a music theory class but it was on reading music and memorizing different scales stuff like that. we didn''t have any ear training classes. You also don't have to re-audition for amda if you want to go to LA after having graduated from NYC you just go straight into it. hope that answered all of your questions! :)

    • @witchplease77
      @witchplease77 Před 4 lety

      @@KimDiaz Hmmm....I wonder why they've changed their policy requiring a student to either re-audition or be invited to the second year of study. If I could give you some advise: Learn to play the piano! In traditional music programs, regardless of what instruments one plays (even for singers), being relatively proficient at the piano is essential. :)
