Crushed carborundum stone , oil , and a section of plate glass ... will true up that oil stone.
Dont know about the block though, as you approach a perfect true ,air pressure starts to clamp everything together , making it hard to slide the piece .

What is that lapping tool called? I know i can make it as u have done but have seen bought ones. Also were u using a sand paper inbetween the plate and block?

It’s just a piece of mild steel plate, nothing specific, I was using Valve cutting / grinding Paste between the plate and the Block

It’s about 20mm thick , 120mm / 400mm
