  • ►David Greco walks us through the process of how to change the oil on an Audi S5 with the 4.2L V8. He'll also show you how to properly use LIQUI MOLY Engine Flush and Ceratec additives during the process.
    The LIQUI MOLY additives featured in this video are not a required step but will offer additional lubrication and wear protection for your engine. Even though this DIY was performed on a 4.2 V8, the same process will apply for any S5 with the 3.0T engine.
    Read this DIY on our blog: blog.fcpeuro.com/how-to-chang...

    Also, I know someone who had to change the oil pan gasket(b8.5). He drained the oil of course. But while removing the pan, he was suprised that there was still about half of court of oil left. So it seems draining it doesnt seem to drain most of the oil.
    So using a pump to suck out the oil would be the best. Since the tube will go down all the way to the bottom of the oil pan.

    I normally locate the filter in the housing and then screw the cap on which clicks in place as the cap is screwed down. It ensures that the filter is located correctly.

    Great video! For the engine flush do you need to remove all the old oil first? Do you just add to existing warm oil? 2 cans is close to 9.3l which is what the s5 takes. I’m just unsure as to how many liters total should be in the can and how many parts oil/engine flush fluid?

  • @connorsutton
    @connorsutton Před 2 lety

    I’m sure you do a engine flush before you change the oil?

  • @aikz5
    @aikz5 Před 2 lety +3

    I’m not sure why he didn’t remove oil filter while sum plug was off? It should have helped to get rid of that extra dirty oil.
    Audi doesn’t recommend to add any additives in engine oil. They can even void your warranty. It’s an official warning in Audi owners manual.

  • @trotter1del
    @trotter1del Před 3 lety +4

    Wouldn't it be a good idea to refill the engine with oil after the flush and idle for a short while, then drain and refill again? Also the oil pan should be dropped and residual sludge cleaned out after the flush.

    Why *exactly* do we need additives?
    (Time and time again, all additives have been proven to either hurt or do nothing for your engine, except make someone ELSE, richer!).

    • @jediali221
      @jediali221 Před 3 lety

      I agree. Sounds like this additive product has additional friction modifiers and AW or EP (fatty acids or ZDDP). If the oem approved LO made is compliant why decide you want to change this? Just change oil more often.

    • @mastalee1776
      @mastalee1776 Před 3 lety

      I'll admit I added the ceratec.
      Who knows it might be snake oil lol.
      But maybe the car industry doesnt want people to use additives (good quality like liquid moly. Assuming), to prolong the cars life.

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  Před 3 lety +2

      There are in fact many additives that actually do nothing, we've found that to not be the case with the LIQUI MOLY line. Their additives stem from years of research with friction modifiers and their creation of one of the most popular friction modifiers - Molybdenum (or Moly). They make many specific additives for many specific purposes - none of their products promise to do it all like other brands may claim. Each product is backed by tons of testing and field use in high stress environments. For example, many of the BMW drivers and engine builders who deal with motors that see lots of bearing failure swear by the MOS2 product because it actually lives up to its claim and reduces internal engine wear - extending the life of the rod bearings in BMW S54, S62, S85 engines and more. While you likely won't notice drastic differences with these products, if you use these products over hundreds of thousands of miles, you'll likely have to do less major services on your motors.
