    Fantastic documentary! I do wonder because of how many tribes we have if we followed Kapwepewe's suggestion of schools teaching in indigenous languages, it could have perhaps fragmentised Zambians to their tribes/ethnic groups, so I understand why KK disagreed. Whilst English was a colonial language it was the only single language Zambians could speak without out tribal linkages, we didn't have a universal lingua-fracna like Swahili that unified Tanzania. I think either English or simply creating a native lingua franca was the safest option to avoid tribal/ethnic affiliation at a time when the idea of 'Zambia' as a nation was simply artificial because after colonialism people had to develop a sense of oneness to identify as Zambian and not simply as a Bemba or Lozi or Tonga etc. All in all, I think Kapwepewe, Nkumbula and KK were great indelible pillars of our history and define who we are as Zambians esp as Zambia turns 58 soon.

    • @ChannelTENthousandBC
      @ChannelTENthousandBC  Před rokem +3

      Thats very true but is idea was not about language but about culture preservation which we are having a problem today. English had to be the primal langauge of the country but in our schools we had to learn about each others history and culture, the Bembas learning about the Tongas, the tongas learning about the ngonis, so on and so fourth. We are at a point in Zambia were we now know about Western civiliazation that our own... That was his point, our children are adopting another mans culture which us not their fault but ours because we dont know even know our own story. Am somewhat a Kaundalist because i agree with thw big man but am also a Kapwepwelist because i agree with him too😇😇😇😂😂

    • @zenge.simakoloyi546
      @zenge.simakoloyi546 Před rokem +2

      @@ChannelTENthousandBC yeah from that angle I do definitely agree. His ideas of cultural emancipation was important and I actually think now is the most pertinent time for that. Making Zambians aware of their heritage is important to overcoming any inferiority complex one might get from not knowing who they are. It’s hard to defend yourself when you don’t know who you’re even defending 😂. I think as Zambians we are grounded in our cultural heritage but also products of history - Zambia as a concept is a collection of distinct to not distinct groups and tbh I’m proud of how’ve stayed intact w decades of uninterrupted peace. Hahah yeah I get that Kaundaist-Kapwepweist complex…I feel I’m more a Kaundaist, like there’s a few things I’d have done differently to KK if I were him. Hbu ?

    True leader the father of hard working daughters, Sampa, Chilufya, Chileshe, Mulenga, etc. All what the big man said has come to pass. Kapwepwe supported preservation of culture and indigenous forms of farming. He differed with the Kaunda government and he strongly felt that in Africa we shouldn't adopt systems of governance of our colonial oppressors. Its unfortunate that he was oppressed by his once bossom friend Kaunda himself (Fonkofonko). Real heros never die. May his rest in eternal peace.

    Wow what a leader Zambia lost back then... But thanks to president Micheal Chilufya Sata the 6th Zambia republic president for naming the current built "Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe international airport" right there in Ndola .
    Such leaders need to be emulated always... Surely the history of Africa defines who we are and not the western culture 🙅🏾‍♂️🌍. continue to R.I.P mr Kapwepwe🙏

    Kaunda robbed us of this intelligent man.
    He could have been great for Zambia

      If Kaunda had stepped down in 1978 & allowed Kapwepwe to take over ,Zambia wound have taken a spin for the positive.

    Zambia, African going back to the roots is the key. We have lost our culture,our language, our God the God of our ancestors,we are worshiping the God of the foreigners.The God the same colonials brought to us and this is why we are not enjoying the fruits of our land.
