I have a 2017 J45, and they are really wonderful. I’ll be 60 soon & it reminds me of the sound of the 1960’s. I just love Gibson’s lineup of Acoustic Guitars.

Nice vid, Norm. Great story with Herb and nice playing on a dealer's (!) Gibson. It's a beauty !
Wow, heard a few notes and thought "This will only get better the more its played".
A second later Herb says "It sounds and feels like its been played for 10 or 15 years".
    I can dig that.

I have a 68 Hummingbird that I bought new. Back then they used an electric guitar nut width, I think because the world was moving away from acoustics. The top bracing was not as refined as they were in the early 60 s and no comparison to today’s versions, thus the lighter weight. In 1970, Gibson was sold to a non- guitar company and the company tried to avoid warranty repairs by doubling the x bracing which, essentially, really killed the tone. My HBird is 52 years old and sounds nothing like the new ones they make. The aging of the top overcomes some of the deleterious effect of the heavier transition top bracing. I got rid of the adjustable bridge saddle with an intonated bone saddle which also helped a lot. Having tried some of their newer J45s and HBirds , I would only compare them to the late 50s or early 60 s versions. I believe they are also now making some versions with torrified tops which would simulate some of the aging process. I agree with Norm that things are much better at Gibson under their new management.

A nice Gibson J-45. One of my Favorites. Always wanted one, but boght something else when the time came to make a purchase.
Called my wife over to take a look at this one, telling her this is one I would like to hve. She never even got up to take a look at it!
Think it was something I said? Must be my "past" catching up to me?
    But, nice guitar.
