almost 10 years since i watched this series, but the soundtrack still gives me feels.... i think it was the first anime i watched that was so beautiful but unspeakably tragic.
its been several years since I first seen the series, and I must say the music still hits me even to this day. it's just beautiful and I loved the anime! shame it doesn't continue on, I have the manga but I would love to see the anime continue on.
Personally I find this song to be the happiest most positive thing I've heard, litterally - when I listen to it - no matter how foul mood I'm in -this always makes it allgo away. Anime is also great - I really don't see how there is much sadness in it (with some exceptions obviously) this anime brings really warm and good feelings IMHO. love it ;)

Gunslinger Girl is the most wonderful anime I ever saw. I strongly recommend to everyone how saw it, also to read the manga. I always read it while listening the soundtrack of the two seasons. Hopefully they release the third season soon. Implied they do it at all.
Also... I LOVE THIS SONG! Ive dreampt of a song like this for years. When i first saw the Opening to GG2, my mouth dropped... I cant hear enough of this song. It brought tears to my eyes when i first heard it. I had found THE song... Ill never forget this song, as long as i live :D

I have most of her albums and many others like her as half my family including my wife and 2 of 3 kids are Japan born and raised. I also minored in Japanese in University and have lived there for over 10yrs, so I am fluent in both traditional, regional ( we have a 2nd home in the Tokyo suburbs ) and in slang Japanese.
I'm probably one of the few people who didn't mind Teatrino. It's different but I learn to enjoy it. The art style changed a lot, but after reading the last chapters, the art style in the manga also changed so I guess that Teatrino's design was to fit its time. Not in a good way but I eventually liked it. The music are as good as ever, Pino arc was one of my favorite, Jean has more developments and Enomoto Atsuko as Triela (really love her in Kare Kano). I don't know about you guys but I need a season 3

+Takatora Toudou I couldn't care less about the art style. I actually liked Teatrino's art style and music more than the original's. BUT! Story-wise, Teatrino was one of the most uneventful anime I have watched. Basically, you can watch episodes 1, 2, 4, 12 and 13. Everything else is pretty much skippable, except some Angelica bits. I get that it was supposed to develop Pinocchio's character further, but the thing is, it didn't. There's a lot of episodes where nothing really happens, and that's the problem, not the art, which in my opinion was quite good.

Everything about the 1st season was all around better, animation and music. It set a tone and reminded you that it took place in Italy. The 2nd season wasn't horrible but I'm against fixing and changing something that wasn't broken in the 1st place.
I find that I can't judge between either one. I feel like the art, in addition to stories added that don't exist in the manga that explain situations that suddenly develop in the manga/develop the characters more, in the 1st one and the seasonal plot in the 2nd make them dead-set equals.

Ba B Quyết Thắng It really is underrated compare to some other Anime that I've seen that people have recommend I watch (High School of The Dead was one that really disliked and is more popular than this). Besides the fact that it's underrated it also has lovable characters and a good plot. I would have to say this is one of the best anime I have seen that I wouldn't mind watching more than once.

Ive seen many anime and read many manga, but this...is just touching. Its violent and all but if u think really deeply, its an inspiring story. I mean if i was on the verge of death, id like a new life! The relationship between the handlers and the cyborgs is just beautiful. They respect them like normal girls (exept marco and jean). This anime was just so awesome. The should make a season 3!
Look, just because people watch anime, doesn't mean they don't have a life. I have friends, i go to school, i play sports and the piano. Anime is like a hobby for me, i enjoy watching it, but i do not cosplay and i am not a "tard". This anime is a great anime. I personally like season 2 better since they made it much more colorful and strengthened the storytelling of the characters. So for all anime fans, dont feed the haters and just watch this awesome anime, Please.
My wife and 2 of my 4 kids are Japanese born and raised. I met my wife in University while she was in Med school anyway after college I joined the US Army and spent 5 of my 8yrs in Japan. I also spent 12 months in Afghanistan as a AH60 pilot and retired from active service as a Capt. I'm still in the reserves and now work in Fed Le. Anyways my wife has some family who works in the Anime and Manga industry. I myself was born and raised in Germany I'm half Japanese tho my dad is from Japan and my mom is German. So we all speak, read and write 3 languages fluently. All my kids are adults or near adults we had kids maybe a bit young. As 2 of our daughters are MD's and one is starting university my son as well as their twins, but my wife and I are in our 40's yet. Pardon the rant just meant even tho were all so busy we all love Anime and Manga. Our favorites Evagalion, Vexlle, GSG and tons of others we own a very large dvd and bluray collection I hate showoffs but its in the low 6 digit range. Same goes for our music collection and we own every album Akiko Yoshida aka Kokia has put out, you should listen to her other work she is very talented I play drums and keyboards myself as one of my hobby's so I love music. This song is much better than Season one's into song. But I like season one's artwork better you could really see the characters emotions back then, II Tearino is in the Anime world the oldes and cheapest CG Anime style there is hence why the girls look very creepy at times. Hate the art on SE 2 and the story is not as good. Well the US or the West see's only about 10-25% of Anime shows so lots more to watch. If you ever go to SF's Tokyo Town their was (not sure if its still there) a great Japanese media import store. Also check out the various online shops sadly the only way is to order direct from a Japanese store most are NOT in English nor do they speak it but I do have some contacts as I said I have family in the biz. So easy for us to get anything we want. Oh and we hate subs and dubs they are always wayyy off its like you are getting a different story. If you want the full true experience learn the language its not that hard. Again pardon got a cold luckily getting over it before Xmas so freaking bored. But actually watch Elsa's episodes she was a great character a sad one to some but those 3 episodes were the best of season one imo.

Totally agree. I just loved Pinocchio and Flanca. In my opinion, Pino was a better character in my opinion, but Catarina deserves recognition as well. Even if they were the "bad guys," they were just too damn likable to be considered villains.
RIGHT? It's actually my favorite anime dub of all I've seen. I've also never seen the dub writers get so close to the original script. Except episode 4. Never watch episode 4 in anything other than Japanese. (They removed one of Triela's defining characteristics!) I don't understand why some people shit on this dub. I actually find the dub actors more dynamic in tone and overall more interesting to listen to than the sub ones (who, btw, ALL SOUND THE SAME). After seeing it in sub on Netflix, I bought the blu-ray box set for the dub, which I was surprised at how good it is. Conversely, I would buy the Soul Eater blu-ray box set for the sub only (that dub is SO trash).
I absolutely loved this series. I have never questioned my views on this whole thing so much, especially concerning Pinocchio...I have never had so many conflicting emotions about him, and any of the girls for that matter.

domdon950 Watch the original or 1st season the art work is very different and very good. I have family (wife and 2 of my 3 daughters are Japan born and raised) that work in the Animation industry btw NO ONE in Japan calls it Anime its a Yankee term. Anyway I know for a fact the budget on the 2nd series or season as some see it was almost cut in half. Its why it has very old and outdated animation you gotta watch the 1st one and you will see how the emotions and expressions show so much better back then. For example Henrietta looks creepy now. Oh and I did another post about half a year ago here about how subs and dubs change this and a 100% of other shows not matter the country in fact. But for Japan's Animation? Lots of Japanese words and phrases do not translate well and many not at all to english. Also the American writers while still having to follow the originals guidelines make huge changes that change lots of emotion, anecdotes and expressions and in the case of GSG? Even changed parts of the story or how a character really is etc. I am fluent in 4 languages and Japaneses is one of them and let me tell you 70-90% is NOT what is really spoken. And the Dubs OMG...With the language problems (errors) and improvising aside NONE of these US voice actors can act. They sound so monotone and no where near a good voice actor just listen to the Japanese actors they sound so much more professional. And here is another example play a pixar or dreamworks Animation film and listen to the acting. Or listen to video game and their voice actors. I just don't get why the US has the worst voice actors in the biz. I, a lot in the industry and even amongst the majority of Animation fans ( most Japanese and some non Japanese speaking types I mean) all agree they are the worst actors no one even on radio sounds as bad as they do even on commercials. HINT: You want the true Animation experience? Learn Japanese its not that hard I minored it in University along with Korean as we have a part of the family that is Korean. Only took me 6months to a year to learn it. Some people only take half that to learn it just depends how good you are at memorizing. But learn as subs and dubs ruin it. And its why I or we (my family) only buy Japan import bluray or dvd's. And with our new Sony XBR 4k sets season 1 looks and sounds awesome I may be a FED but I am a huge electronics freak. Next to flying and my cars and guns. Electronics are a must have and by that and not showing off but I always need the newest and the greatest no matter the cost. But damn 4k is great. Tech is maturing so damn fast it will be outdated in a year tho but oh well hehe.
Because a million others have come and gone since this one, and that many productions competing for people's attention makes it very hard to pick quality out of all the dross.

There is one Anime called HellGirl that I fell in love with the main girl. It starts out slow but by the time a reporter and his daughter enters the story it picks up. I will look into Lost Canvas
....Considering I know how Triela and Henrietta both *actually* die.... Yeah, I think the GFL collab was more than a little perfect.... and seeves us a happier ending for the girls, considering how soul crushingly despair inducing the source material is...

first and second opening are great im gonna look more into each artist and listen to the rest of their work may sound weird coming from someone whos english but its just japanese music has this special thing to it that i cant explain but none the less the music is still great also taking into consideration that ive listened to rock since i was able and the fact htat japanese music was able to change that proves it

Dude. You completely left out Claes! There are five that really count, and she is one of them (though I personally really like Beatrice and wish the author had developed her character a lot more instead of only featuring her as a main in the volume where she died).

I completely agree with you. Stuff like One Piece and DB get's the attention and money to produce about 500 episodes and the productions of high quality are dependent on how much DVD's are sold. Sad world…
@reddragon01369 That is true, there are some really good anime out there that don't have enough credit for being so well made and to move your emotions to new levels. Mostly becouse a lot of kids watch those type of anime but when they see something complicated for their minds to follow they close the window.

gunslinger girl season 1 and 2 are on netflix but only in sub and not dub. The dub for this anime is really good
RIGHT? It's actually my favorite anime dub of all I've seen. I've also never seen the dub writers get so close to the original script. Except episode 4. Never watch episode 4 in anything other than Japanese. (They removed one of Triela's defining characteristics!)
I don't understand why some people shit on this dub. I actually find the dub actors more dynamic in tone and overall more interesting to listen to than the sub ones (who, btw, ALL SOUND THE SAME). After seeing it in sub on Netflix, I bought the blu-ray box set for the dub, which I was surprised at how good it is. Conversely, I would buy the Soul Eater blu-ray box set for the sub only (that dub is SO trash).

I absolutely loved this series. I have never questioned my views on this whole thing so much, especially concerning Pinocchio...I have never had so many conflicting emotions about him, and any of the girls for that matter.

Watch the original or 1st season the art work is very different and very good. I have family (wife and 2 of my 3 daughters are Japan born and raised) that work in the Animation industry btw NO ONE in Japan calls it Anime its a Yankee term. Anyway I know for a fact the budget on the 2nd series or season as some see it was almost cut in half. Its why it has very old and outdated animation you gotta watch the 1st one and you will see how the emotions and expressions show so much better back then. For example Henrietta looks creepy now. Oh and I did another post about half a year ago here about how subs and dubs change this and a 100% of other shows not matter the country in fact. But for Japan's Animation?
Lots of Japanese words and phrases do not translate well and many not at all to english. Also the American writers while still having to follow the originals guidelines make huge changes that change lots of emotion, anecdotes and expressions and in the case of GSG? Even changed parts of the story or how a character really is etc. I am fluent in 4 languages and Japaneses is one of them and let me tell you 70-90% is NOT what is really spoken. And the Dubs OMG...With the language problems (errors) and improvising aside NONE of these US voice actors can act. They sound so monotone and no where near a good voice actor just listen to the Japanese actors they sound so much more professional.
And here is another example play a pixar or dreamworks Animation film and listen to the acting. Or listen to video game and their voice actors. I just don't get why the US has the worst voice actors in the biz. I, a lot in the industry and even amongst the majority of Animation fans ( most Japanese and some non Japanese speaking types I mean) all agree they are the worst actors no one even on radio sounds as bad as they do even on commercials.
HINT: You want the true Animation experience? Learn Japanese its not that hard I minored it in University along with Korean as we have a part of the family that is Korean. Only took me 6months to a year to learn it. Some people only take half that to learn it just depends how good you are at memorizing. But learn as subs and dubs ruin it. And its why I or we (my family) only buy Japan import bluray or dvd's. And with our new Sony XBR 4k sets season 1 looks and sounds awesome I may be a FED but I am a huge electronics freak. Next to flying and my cars and guns. Electronics are a must have and by that and not showing off but I always need the newest and the greatest no matter the cost. But damn 4k is great. Tech is maturing so damn fast it will be outdated in a year tho but oh well hehe.

Because a million others have come and gone since this one, and that many productions competing for people's attention makes it very hard to pick quality out of all the dross.
because they are ashamed at liking a anime cartoon about little cyborg girls that are assassins that brutally kill people yet still have the emotional range of a naive 8 year old girl and dress in cute dresses .
People like me never out grow of liking something so wonderful. I tell my friends about GunSlinger Girl a lot.
@Jackie Schneider I'm glad you are with a good looking man you love. I watched both Ghost in a shell Anime/movie..Anime was better. I like L in deathNote and the movie was awesome too.... There is one Anime called HellGirl that I fell in love with the main girl. It starts out slow but by the time a reporter and his daughter enters the story it picks up. I will look into Lost Canvas

first and second opening are great im gonna look more into each artist and listen to the rest of their work may sound weird coming from someone whos english but its just japanese music has this special thing to it that i cant explain but none the less the music is still great also taking into consideration that ive listened to rock since i was able and the fact htat japanese music was able to change that proves it

Dude. You completely left out Claes! There are five that really count, and she is one of them (though I personally really like Beatrice and wish the author had developed her character a lot more instead of only featuring her as a main in the volume where she died).

@reddragon01369 That is true, there are some really good anime out there that don't have enough credit for being so well made and to move your emotions to new levels. Mostly becouse a lot of kids watch those type of anime but when they see something complicated for their minds to follow they close the window.
