    Overall the rims were in a lot better shape than I was expecting! The actual rim appears to have held up well; the main disappointment with these wheels were the spokes. Our recommendation is to make sure your spokes are tight before every hard ride.

    Nice video Bros :). I have been using my Sur ron for trial, just going over the top of rocks and longs (beginner level). After 3 h of use all the spokes of the rear were very loose. I run at 15 psi.

    Does anyone know the spoke tension for Surron wheels?

    My wheel is never true no matter if spokes are exact same tension all way around + slight pull on drive side ..

      @emotobros  Před 2 lety

      It’s always possible the wheel is physically bent. That’d prevent truing from fixing it

    Tap the spoke with the spoke wrench..you "torque" by tone..

    That's interesting... I broke a spoke on the supermoto wheelset last year when I was commuting. I figured the Chinese didn't really design these bikes to be ridden hard or even off road. This was evident when the first couple of years they didn't even sell them with fenders.

    • @emotobros
      @emotobros  Před 3 lety

      If they weren’t designed to go off road then why did they give them 8 inches of travel and knobby tires?

      @@emotobros RST and DNM forks are also the pinnacle of downhill mountain bike engineering... as well as the ball bearing Walmart headset that eventually had to be replaced with the tapered bearing headset. The way they’re sold now is much better due to the years of people complaining about stuff breaking on their first rides out.

    Cmon....you said the wheelsets were no good..I call bullcrap on that statement...they are actually by mountain bike standards a tank. I have had no issues so far, and I could see @1:39 of the video that despite having many spokes loose, the wheel was still pretty round!..I would call that a pretty good wheel. Nothing will survive abuse, so what you should have done is compare this with an overpriced so called high quality wheel and subjected that to the same abuse and compare.

      By any measure able metrics these wheels are no good and we stand by that. You’re right in saying that for MTB wheels they are good, the problem is they’re on a dirtbike. For MTB wheels they are way to heavy, for moto wheels they are still heavy but far weaker than anything made for a dirtbike.
      We’ve been running “over priced” wheels for about half a year and not only have we never needed to tighten the spokes, they’ve never even slightly came out of true and are noticeably more rigid when riding.
      So much of wheel pricing comes from the labor involved in building the wheel. The components themselves generally are fairly inexpensive.
